indian team in really poor shape.
by karthik on Mar 29, 2007 11:24 AM  Permalink

Imagine Mongia serioulsy thinks that he can coach india.. I think sachin should retire and become the coach and srinath/Prasad should assit him as the bowling coach. Ganguly should become the selector.

Coach and Captain in future
by Sashi Rao on Mar 29, 2007 11:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is now clear that the team members especially the seniors like Ganguly and Tendulkar let down the Team, the Captain and the Coach very badly.
Throwing out Dravid and Chappell is like throwing the "baby" out with the "bathwater".They both still represent the best hope for the future of Indian cricket.A younger vice captain ( no clear choice really ???)with intention to take over from Dravid in about 2 years time seems the best way to go.
And for the sake of Indian cricket,Sachin and Ganguly please go into retirement.Your past records and performance will only look better and graceful when you know it is time to go.

Dear Raj,

We are not concerned as who is in form, out of form, playing game or playing politics or so ever. What er want is that the team should give consistent positive results. If team looses and Mr wall or tendlya hits double century, it's vein for us. But if team wins and the captain himself gets out on a duck is welcomed. The result should be victory. kunki agar garv hai to sab kuchh hai, garv nahin to kuchh bhi nahin.

Raj,

What about, when the same Ganguly waved his shirt over his head after the famous Nat Weat win ??
You were not proud to be an indian when we triumphed over England & showed them that we can see them face to face and with our heads held high ??

Its not a question of bong or not..idiot..look at my argument its well put. not like you who doesnot understand head or tail of cricket and make personal remarks. I have tough balls to accept the reality but its only you guys who are supporting Dravid who kept on hanging with sehwag and kumble, destroyed a winning team, conspired against sourav and supported that idiot Chappel. Sourav atleast showed us the proud days of 2003 world cup where we reached finals and gave us hope of winning 2007.

Chappel and Dravid were a great combination. Ignorant Indian cricket fans cannot understand what is going on in Indian cricket right now. Sachin and Ganguly wanted Dravid to fail. Ganguly flourished when Dalmia was there. He did everything to remove seniors like Kumble Dravid etc. Didn't Ganguly force Dravid to keep wickets if Dravid wanted to play in the ODI team. You guys must understand the politics of Indian Cricket before blindly speaking against Dravid, or Chappel or even Kumble

You language speaks for itself.. this is the kind of culture you have. I'm sure you must be a bong. And we all know about the bongs i mean commies. They can't take critism. So you can't run away from reality.
It is well known fact that Ganguly chicked out whenever he saw fast balls.
You Osho.. have some balls to accept the reality.

Sourav was, is & will be non performer. He was just a good manipulator. When he was captain everybody performed well. Just look at his stats against good sides. You will understand. I hope you understand. Looking at your previous comments I doubt. You are man without brains. As you don't have brains you think from where people shit.

Dravid scored 60 against Srilanka.. how much did Sourav score in that match. Now don't talk about Bermuda match...Against Sourav scored 66 in 140 balls. If you are going to bat that slow that anybody would have scored that much. Actually Ganguly was playing for himself rather than for the team.

Stupid msg..whats the connection between bouncers and good captaincy? Sourav is an all rounder so understands overall cricket better than Rahul. Who looks like a chicken on the field all the time. What if ganguly was not playing bouncers well he overcame it and that too in style. Got runs against Australia and SA. Only captain who would have given us a victory in Australia.

Sourav is the best captain we had in recent past, under his captaincy we were atleast World No 2 if not 1 but now we are even below Bangladesh. This happens when you have a weak captain like Dravid whose first rule is to nod in support of a dominating coach like Chappell. Sourav is somebody who liked to lead from front & in full command that's why he was victim of Board politics backed by personal ego of Chappell.

Rahul should resign because of Chappel worship and creating negative effect in the team. He made a winning team into a pack of losers. All the things that you wrote about all players not performing was becasue of Rahuls negative captaincy. He should be sacked immediately and Greg should be packed off. Sourav should be reinstated as a captain asap to avoid further damage. Get a coach from ex indian captains. High time someon like Mohinder Srikanth Sunny or Sandip patil takes over

Exactly, Ganguly was a successful captain coz Dravid Kumble Sachin Laxman Yuvraj played well. It is captain's job to get the best out of his team members.
I'm not a Dravid hater or Ganguly supporter. In this world cup Dravid fumbled at quite a few occassions like second batting against Bagladesh, defensive field settings, shuffling of bowlers etc.

dada dadagiri betryed the team and ditched the dravid
back stage politics
ganguly is cunning politiician
he deliberately played negative criceker
played a big role in defeat
just to humiliate dravid and prove dravid
not good captain and ganguly's record will
won't harmed if one win, team would have gone
s/league THEN THERE WON'T BE CHANGEIN CAPTIANCY
GANGULY IS FRONT RUNNER FOR CAPTAINCY
BACK STAGE POLITICS
ganguly used dalmiay when he was in power
whole country knew how gracefully he backstabbed dalmiay everybody know his backdoor entry
ganguly is politician his dadagiri supported by
left pary mps who can influence pawar prsd of bcci
david is not looser he is still ranked 12 in icc odi ranking while ganguly moved down
2 places from 55 to No 57 even after winnin MOS
against Sl series at home
look at stat there is only 1% diff in odi winning average of ganguly 5 yrs tenure and drvids one and half yr tenure
ganguly is main culprit for team loss

Ganguly was struggling while batting against burmuda, and got 3 lifes
Harbajan singh went wktless in 2 matches
dhoni failed with bat
Zahirkahn was wktless in firest match and in he took 2 wkts against SL but he gave more extra runs b'cuz of erratic bowling.

captaicny myth and truth
by Suman Bhat on Mar 29, 2007 10:56 AM  Permalink

Ganguly -5 yrs
Team won 76 odis out of 147 matches when ganguly was captain

out of 147 matches India won 76 (51.70%) lost 66 (44.90%) Tie or no results 5(3.40%) won 74 (50.34%)

But Saurav captained 34 ODI against minnows Bangla Desh Zimbabwe Namibia Kenya Netherlands Canada etc%u2026..

Dravid %u2013 16 months
Team won 33 odis out of 65 ( including this WC matches) when Dravid was captian

India won 33 (50.77%) lost 28 (43.08%)no result/ tie 4 (6.15%)

But Dravid captained ot 65 matches captained only two ODI against minnows i.e. Bangladesh and Bermuda

VC sachin failed with bat but ganguly played negative cricket and gifted match to bangladesh
even one win would have taken team to S.legue and there was no change in captaicy
and odi winning average differen very just 1% when compared dravids 's 16 months captaincy with ganguly's 5 yrs achievement. one win means there is change
and also harbajan wkt less and dhoni is failure
if coach and captain has to go then sachin ganguly herbajan and dhoni shold be shown the door

If we recollect the past, in 1987 - kapil lost his captaincy due to a single bad day, when he could not pack the sweep shot of graham gooch and gave a catch over just over boundryline to mike getting. Besides these two mistakes, he led team india trumendouly match by match in all the area. but what happened, he had to loose his captaincy.

This time again, Team India was one of the favourites to win the cup and place in SemiFinals was assured by all the leading personalities. Only and Only due to inexperienced captaincy of dravid, team india take wrong decisions one after another until it was out in the preliminary round. Wo to shukra hai Bermuda thi, Koi bhi doosari team hoti to Teeno Match haar ke aate. Thus DRAVID SHOULD BE SACKED FROM CAPTAINCY, He may be allowed to be a team member.

In the past many great cricketers resigned from Captaincy taking the responsibility of their defeat in WC or other major tournament. Although all 11 players played with the captain.

So if Dravid is a gentleman he should resign from Captaincy taking the blame that he could
not lead the team in right way.

In Srilanka Jaysurya, Attapatu resigned from the captaincy after the team defeated.
In South Africa Shawn Pollock resigned after their team lost in last world cup.
Many other gentleman of other teams resigned from the captaincy taking the responsibility of
the defeat but continue playing for the team.

Dravid should also resign gracefully before he is sacked.

Captaincy is not all about one game Suman..its building the team. Rahul lost the plot in that. Greg broke the team from the word go. Rahul supported it. After that there were lots of experiments and the team did not stabilise at all. Players like tendulkar were made to bat lower the order and this was the beginning of the end. Rahul should be held responsible for all this instability in the team line up and should be kicked out of captaincy asap.
