Mr. Bundra what are the odds of wining against Australia, south africa.....so on when you loose to bangladesh and srilanka....may be 1 in 100. So I doubt with this performance they would have gone to next round even after 10 matches.
I thought there was only one good day or was it? India won only one game and lost two. They were out for 199 and 185 and that to my count are two bad days. Third one I am not sure that was good at all as it was like central govt vs gram panchayat. India played horrible in all the matches. Lack of attitude to win and lot of attitude otherwise resulted in exit from world cup not just one bad day.
Its ironic that the format is being criticized after the fact. If this was really an issue, how come this didn't come up before India got thrashed? Stop making excuses for the pathetic performance. Just step up and accept that this team comprises a bunch of spineless, greedy and selfish cricketers who have their minds on money more than the glory of representing their country in a world sporting event. This team deserved the hammering they got. Interestingly enough, we don't see any other teams complaining. Don't add insult to injury. Followers of this game are not stupid. Lastly, we have also just seen the shameless bozos you sent relaxing in the beautiful carribean, some in the pool, walking on the beach, etc. Any self-respecting sportsperson in the world would be hiding in the bathroom and not be showing their faces in public, but of course this team comprises of "true gems". Boy, what a well deserved and hard earned vacation this is. For their splendid performance, all you collective morons (organizers) need to do is send in the missing elements for further pictures and to complete a perfect vacation - beautiful models to serve the players vodka martinis by the pool and groom their beautiful hair and delicate nails.
U mean to say that India wud have to play another five games to multiply their agony before they wud have seen the same final exit after compounding the anger of the already burning fans. That wud have been horrendous proposal to wait for such a huge ignominy. It has rather done world of good to show them the doors at an early stage when u know where u stand. Should we not realise that we r too overrated and pampered a team worthy of actually called as real minnows of cricket and most of our wins here and there including 1983 are near freak cases.
This is the most stupid point some one ever made since the India's exit. He wants to have 7 matches for each team..owaooo... why? so that world cup will be a never ending affair for the advertising agencies? India knew about the format before they set foot on west indies. If they didn't realize before that a single loss could be fatal, especially to a team like Bangladesh, then they should not play in world cup. In any case, a runner up team loosing to a team like Bangladesh means there is something seriously wrong in the team; no argument can be in their favor. They simply do not deserve to be in Super 8. You can not loose twice in a group match. You do not have that flexibility in any tournament.
to blame the cup format for India's miserable showing. Mr Bundra, accept the fact that India lost 2 out of three matches to teams, all of them below India in WC ranking. Lord help Punjab cricket with you ath the helm !
How can a great team like India get eliminated due to one unfornuate bad match? A few dedicated key players scoring 0s or single digits? A excellent set of fielders dropping a few catches? The strongest batting line-up not chasing 254 runs in a do or die match?
With so many achievements if a team gets eliminated the format must be wrong.
Hopefully they will realise the mistake and change the format to keep the highly committed team like India in the game.
So the bottomline is, keep watching cricket while killing all the local sports in your area!

What do you guys mean one match, what about all those matches that we lost before the WCUP,are we like AUS to have won everything in sight? What about the match against LANKA?Did we beat them and were narrowly kicked out by Bangladesh? So what do you expect,Bangladesh to make way to Indai despite winning 2 matches to Indias 1,that too agains the WORLDS strongest team BERMUDA?

Hey Harinder, It's all sarcasm and nothing else. Which team is giving this kind of ridiculous excuse?
My larger point is, Cricket has wiped out money from lot of local sports. It's time Indians and India media seriously encourages those sports. Just one sport and that too played with set of commercial junkies is not a very healthy sporting scenario for a people of 1.1 billion.

true.. and the other day i had someone talk to me in person who said well look at china.. their population is larger than ours but they dont play cricket.. and a third person in the conversation responded, what about all the "golds" china wins during the olympics.. If an indian wins a 'bronze', they will be treated as gods. Its not so much the players that are to be blamed but its the media, the politics, the people that treat the players as gods. Leave it as a sport and play it with discipline and I am sure you will see positive results sooner than later. Cheers!

As per you what makes India a great team, how many ODI tournaments have we won with the so called Great Batting line up,please tell me that
Finally, someone presents the most important point behind India's exit.
Granted, we did not play to our potential. It does not warrant elimination after just one game. The idea behind the process of elimination (even the idea of world cup) is to choose 4 best teams to go through semi-final to battle each other. Remember here! The idea is to find the 4 "best" teams. Every team thinks they are the best, so the only way to find out if they all play against each other.
Even math teaches us better than to have just 1 or 2 bad games decide the outcome of the groups. The very first rule of statistics and sampling is to have "BIG ENOUGH" sample to rule our "flukes".
Just based on one game, it is decided that Ireland is better team than Pakistan; and Bangladesh is better team than India. Almost everyone in world except for people from Ireland and Bangladesh knows that's not true.
Let's for the sake of argument say, India plays 10 games agaist Bangladesh. I think, given that Bangladesh has improved a bit, the results will be India 8 wins - Bangladesh 2 wins. It just so happened that one of those 2 loses happened to be in the prelim. group match.
Many people are saying India did not advance because they lost to Sri Lanka, when they should have won. Not so fast, I say. There is no shame in losing to Sri Lanka. I think 10 games between India-Sri Lanka would go 5-5, so it's fine. So, we only had one bad game to put us out of world cup. NOT FAIR!
South Africa lost to Australia, England lost to New Zealand. There were always going to be 4 good teams losing to 4 other teams in respective groups. So, it's not India losting to Sri Lanka or Pakistan losing to West Indies that put them out of the world cup. It's their ONE BAD DAY that did them in.
And statistically speaking, no matter how you churn the butter, ONE BAD DAY IS NOT A BIG ENOUGH SAMPLE TO DUB INDIA (and Pakistan, for that matter) AS A BAD TEAM!

If that was the case, then South Africa who loose so narrowly every time by a TIE or Rain Rule would never accept their elimination
Just dont be such a bad loser,we talk about Aussies being bullies, now talking like this Bindra is trying to bully ICC,where was he when the rules were first made.

I get your points, but I had said the same thing when Pakistan lost to Ireland (A few hours BEFORE India lost to Bangladesh. And mind you, when India lost, India weren't out of the cup, Pakistan was)
What I am saying is, even then, assuming India would make it through, and only Pakistan being the Big Gun out of the cup, I said that the format is wrong for a big team to be out based on one bad game against a team like Ireland.
Moreover, what's even more interesting that all these people that are jumping with excitment because Bangladesh and Ireland "deserves" to be in super 8 would really get a slap on the face when they don't win any one of their 6 games, and in turn making it a SUPER 6.
So, what's more interesting? 8 good teams fighting for Semi-Final birth?
or
6 good teams and 2 "so called good-because they had one good game" teams making a complete mess of the points table in super 8 stage?

1.) Do you know the meaning of do or die? 2.) How long world cup should run a year or two may be?

Well said, just Imagine if Pak or SLanka got elimated instead of India then will Bindra talk like this or will these fans say that the format was wrong?

this happens in football. Czech republic which was ranked 2nd in the world was eliminated in first round of last year's soccer world cup. it is unfortunate and though i don't agree with the format, you have to accept the fact that not all good teams get eliminated in the format.
