Even bangladesh were able to win two matches, its a sorry state of India couldn't win. How can a former president can give a comment like this. I guess Indian cricket is in poor state becos of people like Bindra still in BCCI
Its' all about axing Rahul Dravid. I hope its good for Rahul to have not captained India all this while. He was an earned captain for India by playing good cricket in both forms and was being considered as a Wall for the team in building partnerships. How any one can axe him for playing good cricket in all the cruch games.
And one should remember its not a single man army, its a team of 11 members, one should understand his role in accepting responsibilities. Eg: Sachin played so beautiful to make 7 against minnows Bangladesh, coming down the order at 6 against much lower team Bermuda and scoring 57 not out, good thing the overs were complete or else he would have gone on to score 200 hundred in 50 balls to make it a world record and a beautiful "0" getting out bowled seems he is been running with cactract, needs an eye check up immediately or else his endorsements with "Boost" for loosing energy will be be cancelled. Ganguly shines in low end matches and wins man of the series to score 7 from 23 balls in the crunch games. Dhoni's and yuvraj's get out cheaply and rest are so called bowlers can bat, do not even contribute 20 runs each or 40 runs all put together. This is the team Poor Dravid got for this world cup and went on to have a sole fight and scoring 60. Axing is a must for Rahul for accepting Captaincy. Poor Bhindra in compensating for this Indian team, went on to say the format was not right in this worldcup for getting elemented India in five days. Absolutely bullish, needs no explaination.
Here is my team for bangladesh series(16 member squad) as per batting order, have ur say, 1)Robin utthappa. 2)sachin tendulkar. 3)rohit sharma. 4)yuvraj singh. 5)rahul dravid. 6)ms dhoni. 7)virendra sehwag. 8)ramesh powar. 9)zaheer khan. 10)sreesanth. 11)munaf patel. 12)dinesh karthik. 13)gautam gambhir. 14)piyush chawla. 15)irfan pathan. 16)chateerjee,cant remember his name, but the man responsible for making bengal play the ranji finals, the one with a poney tail.
I think this at the moment is the best team which can be tried, ganguly fans i am extremely sorry, cause although he has scored runs,he is a poor fielder and doesnt rotate strike enough and moreover he is not able to increase his strikerate even when set,so frm the future point of view this step is a must. The same thing applies on sachin and rahul but i think dravid is the best commited cricketer india has ever produced plus he can control innings in the middle order and increase the runrate as per requirement,i do think he should remain as a captain for a while, sachin is only included in the team so that india can get 3 part time bowlers which can bowl atleast 15 overs between them i.e sachin, sehwag, yuvi.as far as sachins batting is concerned he should just be played as an opener and if he persists to fail or if it looks like that he is no more comfortable at top, then he should be replaced by gambhir and should take retirement.I think it was a mistake in world cup to send sachin at4 cause he has very seldomely performed under pressure/won matches for that particular position, and has delivered his best as an opener/have won many matches for India batting at the top.the same thingh applies on sehwag,if he fails karthik is an automatic choice/pathan.pathan can also play as a pure bowler in 7,4 combination,I think pathan should just concentrate on his bowling,India needs him more as an swing bowler rather then a great allrounder, anyway he has enough batting talent that he will play good knocks in between.HAVE YOUR SAY AND ONCE AGAIN SORRY TO GANGULY FANS,IT LOOKS HARSH BUT FOR THE BETTER OF INDIAN CRICKET OR FOR FUTURES SAKE ,THIS SHOULD BE DONE.LETS US ALL HOPE SOME GOOD THINGS R DONE THIS TIME.
Saabji naachna nahi ayee tho angan theda??? Sir this is a competitive world, you wont get a second chance, so stop blaming the format and start to think about improving the game standards in India, which you of course failed to do during your tenure as BCCI cheif.
:-) There is no such format known to me where a team will loose and yet progress higher in the tournament. Irrespective of format, One has to win matches. If the team looses against Bangladesh, whose test status is often debated upon, then it is wrong to blame the format. Ya, Ofcourse untill one decides to award points to the loosing team. Ha ha haha...
Secondly, the matter of new/old/Foreign/Indian coach... My question is why a coach? Are you telling me that these players are still learning, when many of them are about to retire. I can understand coaches for under-16 team, under-18/19 teams... They still have things to learn. But sorry, I cann't assume the fact that Sachin, Sourav, Rahul are still learning. And for that matter any one in the Indian National Squad should be expected to know well about there field specialization(Batting/Bowling/Keeping). And if any of them is having a particular problem with say footwork, action, special weakness(Playing against spin/pace, incorrect action from some special delivery) then he can seek help of peers/seniors or can even be sent to a relevant academy/specialist in the country or outside for a month or two. That should charge the team lot less and we can have a good psychiatrist, manager with the money. What say? We know that in soccer teams there are managers in the team that take care of the adminstrative works, and often brings in a new thought process very distinct from players. Just like, say, Sachin being not a regular bowler brings in a fresh variety and element of surprise in his deleveries. Anyways, just my opinion... :-)
It is politics of KIRAN MORE, he started it. Now he opposes to fire Dravid as captain. The ONLY REASON is he does not want Saurav as captain. Kill MORE.
Mr. Bindra it is easy to point out mistakes, loop holes after any debacle. FYI, this format was already pre-released and known and India lost not one but two matches one against minows and other against Srilanka chasing modest target.
You are just trying to grab attention out of cheap and useless comment.
i would like to know, why draved chose to field first? this question is to be answered first. when we know that our strength is batting, for all along the years we have been depended on our batting then why the hell he chose to field first?? in 1987, we did the same mistake with england in semi-final. in 1996, we did with Srilanka & faced an angry crowd in kolkata. then, in 99, the first match in super six was with australia in wich we chose fielding first & lost it. WHY CANNOT THESE ppl. realise their mistake & play?? please make it sure that ur strength only, would help u to win matches & not any RISKS. keep it in mind...

Common yaar! Why is it difficult to understand that tosses don't win matches... Else why to play the rest of the match after toss? Decide winner or looser from the toss itself. Ya, they do make good excuses...

do remember that, we lost against bangladesh while batting first. For a quality team, it doesn't matter whether batting first or second, winning attitude is very important and our team doesn't have it. period. Only losers think superstitiously.

Sir, if ur strength is ur batting then why does it crumble under pressure...
Is it more pressure to score a 300 while batting first nd then to defend with a weak bowling or to chase 255 with all at stake...
While batting u can exactly plan ur chase..u can put short term targets...but what do u do while batting first...bat out the other team out of the match...today when 400 have also been chased down...can u really feel safe batting first and that too after the debacle with Bangladesh batting first.
Perhaps, if it were to be left to this Bindra guy, he would handover a world cup trophy to each of the "top eight teams". How can an ex-bcci president be so stupid and immature to say suchh a thing in media. I Guess, that's a reflection on our beloved BCCI.
Before he talks of the world cup format, what about the current selction format?
zonal selection is the worst thing to have happened to indian cricket. why not have a ranking system segregating batsmen, bowlers, keepers, openers, hitters (we need them na), spinners [something like this] and rank them with fielding and running between the wickets. the top rankers automatically make it to the team.
this way, selection will be 100% meritorious with no bias whatsoever
