Chappel Says Ganguly Deserves a Good Farewell Written by Rasesh Thursday, 11 May 2006 Soon after the warning issued to Virender Sehwag by the BCCI comes another controversy. Now its the coach Greg Chappel talking about the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. In an interview with Zee, Chappel said that that Ganguly deserved a good farewell and labelled him as a 'wonderful player'. He also stated that the selection of the former captain was upto the selection commitee and he only has a small role to play. Greg also said that media was unnecessary hyping the issue, that is dead and burried. Now lets see what the BCCI will do after these comments, did Chappel mean Ganguly's career is over by saying 'he deserves a good farewell'. Well the matter is open for controversy! This is what greg said in may 2006 and after colliding with Kiran through cricket academy scandal which was swept under the carpet by BCCI as usual. Now he is claiming credit for ganguly's comeback There are so many naive people in india who feel greg is honest.

I see captaincy as a great honour and have enjoyed it, says Rahul Dravid
`As long as you are willing to improve and are constantly improving and looking for ways to improve then I think you become a better player'
http://www.hindu.com/2007/03/10/stories/2007031003662200.htm
Indian captain Rahul Dravid emerged the clear winner and polled the maximum 97 per cent of the votes while nd Tendulkar got 95.3 per cent votes. ( Times. Of India)
Statistics show that the 'Wall' is India's most successful One-day captain among all those who have captained India in at least 20 matches.
http://cricket.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1653872.cms
Dravid did not loose any series at home. Dravid has record of 18 winning of chasing odi games. Dravid%u2019s team beat Srilanka 6-1 ( when murali and vaas with team) England and Pakistan drean series againstin SA in India. When Gangauly 76 odis win records 31 matches are against weaker teams like Zim, Bangladesh keny and Namibia, when ganguly was captain team India lost to bangadesh and humiliated defeat against NZ, ( 56 all out) aussies, Pakistan and in SA team never won sereies irresptctive of whoever captain and playing XI
When dravid appointed as captain India was ranked 8th ICC ranking now after 16 months it is moved to no 5th.
ICC recognised his captaincy by shortlising his name for ICC captain of year award.
NDTV - Pitch Battle
Richard barry, dean jones and imran khan placed dravid as No 3 captain and batsman next to stephan flaming and ponting. Even ganguly praised the captaincy of dravid
Even ganguly praised dravid%u2019s captaincy. Dravid leads by examples by pefroming and scoring runs under presuure and against good team. He is less authorative and less falmeboyunt. He is very cool, calculative and methodical and whiel ganguly has support of dalmiay and board. But dravid was criticised by board members. Chief selector is only crating problem by giving some crap statement. And two ex captains sachin with strong Mumbai lobby and ganguly with his political support are breathing dravid%u2019s neck in duel fight for captaincy. Ganguly as captain or batsman many times was not there when team required. But dravid odi batting averageas captain is more than 45 better than his normal average 40.06. statiscis prove dravid success in 16 months better than any other captain. And in tests dravid won tests in multan, SA, Sabina park and proved he is classic captain like wadekar and kapildev,..
Lastly ganguly was captain for 5 yrs and dravid only for one and half year so how much is relevant is coamparison? Ganguly treated team as his own property while dravid never dispaled his authority on the field or infront of media. Dravid always shared the victory with his teammates whiel ganguly success was b%u2019cuz of contributions of laxman, kumble, sewag, sachin and dravid. Dravid shared dieas with his teammates while doing press brief that never happen before. Media always unfair to dravid batsman and captain
Some ex cricketers, cricket experts and media ppl and selectors and board officials must have faith and confidence in captain and player and should support team rather than creating problem, pressure by giving crap statement in front of media

Dravid is still supporting Sehwag. So there is no use screaming against Sehwag. So guys let us just wait & watch. God knows, this gamble which Dravid is playing could get us world cup. But he has to sacrifice either Robin or Pathan for Sehwag which is sad.

3 nemesis for Dravid
by Kabadan Y on Mar 11, 2007 08:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There are 3 nemisis in this team for Dravid. Number one is Sehwag, and as rightly pointed out by Prem, sending him as an opener is shooting on one's own head. Second is Irfan Pathan, with the speed of 120 range, can never seriously threaten any quality batsmen. His figures will read 10-70 runs and using him against quality teams, mean we just have to chase that much more or loose that much quickly. The third nemesis is Anil Kumble, he has the power to increase any bowlers run average with his fielding and has really reached the use-by date.

1)Don't forget that Sehwag is a match winner. A 50 from him can turn every thing around.
2)Pathan took three important wickets against the hosts and my dear friend! pace does not matter when there is accuracy.
3)Anil Kumble is the highest wicket taker for India.

Suggestion: CRITICISM IS VERY EASY.

Friend! Cheer the team and do not criticise them as you may have to eat your own words up when these players will perform well.

ALL THE BEST TEAM INDIA AND DRAVID.

Thanks!!

I agree with you. We just need to show confidence in our team. Kumble will be a real threat for other teams & Pathan will emerge an outstanding allrounder in this WC. On his day Sehwag can destruct any bowling attack.
