studpid rediff
by Rajeev Kapoor on Mar 06, 2007 01:31 AM  Permalink

rediff is reacting in a stupid manner to icc schedule. the schedule is clearly drafted according to then icc cricket rankings and is only indicative.
rediff has either fully failed to understand what icc meant by schedule or it is trying to create a news out of nothing.

I cannot believe Rediff made up an article as asinine as this. Is this a comic or what? I've read better Suppandi jokes on Tinkle.

Stupid rediff
by karthick gfgf on Mar 06, 2007 01:22 AM  Permalink

"If you aren't done laughing already, here is the clincher. You thought the purpose of the preliminary group was to figure out who tops which group, yes? The more fool you -- the group games do no such thing."

Hey foolish statemnt. What the heck man? the author didnt even understand about the format before he comments anything.
If a team wins all its games it will still have the advantage irrespective of it being A2 or A1. it will carry over the 2 points to the group eight stage and will not meet its own group qualifier in super eight stage as it will be considered winner due to its group stage win over the same opponent. So even group matches cant be taken lightly.
Moreover this is not new.. thats how the last two world cups are played.

I think you didnt understand the word
by Padmanabhan Venkataramani on Mar 06, 2007 01:19 AM  Permalink

A1 and A2 means something and not what you say...Pls. go back and remove such articles...just for the sake of creating sensation...you do such things...which is highly irritating...Earlier i used to think rediff site is good. Its quality has gone down. I am planning on suggesting my friends to get away from this site.

Come on Rediff
by karthick gfgf on Mar 06, 2007 01:12 AM  Permalink

Thats the way it was announced. Infact it was a good decision by the ICC so that we can know who plays when. Its not an eye was as the author says. What if Kenya wins both its games and come first or second in the group.
The idea is to atleast predict which big team plays whom and when as the group eight itself is a round robin game. So why do we need surprises when they are all going to play eachother. Infact this was done for the convenience of the public.
its not ICC's mistake if you think India will top its group. Rather it makes clear abt the big matches schedule.
And in this format No team has an advantage. Its advantage public.

depend on rank
by srini tla on Mar 06, 2007 01:03 AM  Permalink

It seems to me that you people have not noticed the rank beside the team name in the world cup time table. All the teams will be arranged in that order only, top ranking team top of the table and low ranking team finishing second wheather its seeded team like India, Srilanka or non seeded team like new comer Bermuda, Ireland etc.

Super 8s : India vs Pakistan, April 15
by Jerry Thomas on Mar 06, 2007 12:39 AM  Permalink

I completely agree with the author since I've been a victim of this SCHEDULE TAMASHA!.I booked tickets and accomodation in Grenada thinking India will top the group and be B1.This was hit for a six when the ICC decided a couple of weeks back that India will be B2 irrespective of what happens in the preliminary matches.I would lose a lot of money b'cos of this turnaround by the ICC.These b******s should be taken to court.

Anyway kudos to the author for bringing it to the public domain and to rediff for publishing it

by techie Jr on Mar 06, 2007 12:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

HI Rediff,
Most of the people did not even realize what you are trying to say. I just visited ICC site again, they changed the schedule. This morning I saw on ICC it was like as you said.

I am curious to know what you going to do now? Do you have any proof
