A very good observation & absolutely true
by S Narain on Apr 21, 2007 01:21 PM  Permalink

See the true & naked face of Dravid as observed ( agreat observation) by Maulik

India will know his true face soon. Dravid is spineless

better duo,

by Indranil Maulik on Apr 21, 2007 12:31 PM |

Atleast under the duo of Jagmohan Dalmia and Saurav Ganguly we were reaching more finals. but under Dravid and Pawar we seem to be no where. Under Ganguly's and Tendulkar's and Azhar's Captaincy look the style of dravid's batting. slow and sticky. but under his own captaincy dravid has totally changed his batting style. still we call him gentleman. f**k him.

He is retained even when he has brought so much disgrace not only in world cup, but champions trophy,Malsian series , ODI series in WI & South Africa . It is like making a Buta Singh primeminster of India ,ahead of Dr Manmohan Singh .

BCCI is crushed under pressure
by Shantanu Verma on Apr 21, 2007 01:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I hope all the people who wanted young team got their wish as this team is only fit to play Bangladesh not a world class team as Australia or Srilanka.

Somethings I dont understand:
1. Sewag is picked again even after not proving himself anywhere. Does not matter if he is only playing ODIs if you want him to improve drop him completely like Gangully was dropped.

2. The young team chosen is not the best team country has to offer. Teams should be based on performance and not because people of India say drop everyone BCCI drops everyone. Its not national elections.

3. Sachin Tendulkar why was he dropped? Who is going to replace him? Who? Why BCCI WHY?

Shantanu,
Just in case you are not in touch of cricket, Sehwas was the top-scorer for india in the just concluded world cup. Please let me know if you know that or not.

Very true but Sehwag has not been consistant. I bet if you gave so many chances to one of the youngsters aswell he will one day be a top scorer. Nothing against Sewag but when you drop people like Sachin & Sourav it just makes me wonder why he was picked. Curious. BCCI tries to make every Indian team supporter happy. If you hear the speech given after selection it goes like " this dude from delhi this guy from rajasthan, this gentleman from tamil nadu" who gives a damn where they are from are they top performers?? It should not be about state it should be about talent. I never heard anyother board mentioning all the states players have come from.

After all this we wonder why we didnot have best team. Its becoming more like a Indian soap opera with people of India who have only played Galli cricket making BCCI make decisions to keep the public interested. What is this cricket or WWE where the site puts out polls and whichever sportsstar wins most polls becomes the next Champ.

How the politics is killing Indian cricket due to regional & politics of BCCI
by S Narain on Apr 21, 2007 12:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why such details are not publiced by Media. Has BCCI purchased media also? I would like to put on board , the records of players as given here in 2006-2007( ODI)

:Unfortunate Selection
by Peeyush xxxxxxxxx Maheshwari on Apr 21, 2007 10:36 AM
Yes you are right letus have a look at last one year performance (Mar 2006 to Mar 2007)of our top batsmans:

Sachin: Avg. 41.24 S/R 81.04
Ganguly: Avg. 63.63 S/R 75.21
Dravid: Avg/ 38.46 S/R 75.21
AR Uttapha: Avg. 28.50 S/R 105.17
Sehwag: Avg. 28.78 S/R 90.67
Dhoni: Avg. 35.85 S/R 87.59
Yuvraj: Avg. 40.37 S/R 89.59
Raina: Avg. 25.68 S/R 67.87

So, if Dravid, Sehwag, Uttapha you are selecting then definitely Sachin and Ganguly should also get a place in Indian Team

I do not only agree with above but endorse that persons like Pathan ,Balaji must have got chance.

How you think makes me laugh.Raw Statistics is of no use till you dont know how to analyse it.
Siddu keeps uttering this"I lean over statistics like a drunkard leans over a lamppost, only support not for illumination".
The negative circket that Ganguly played in worldcup cannot not be seen in your statistics. Till world cup he was playing possitive circket. But once worldcup started he changed colours. Also the position one bats also affects the average & lot of other factors. And Pathan's economy rate was between 6.5-7 runs per over in his last 15 matches & he cant bat against quality pace or spin bowling. What do you intend to do with such players?

what do u know about positive and negative cricket? when no player is willing to stay on the wicket, wether holding one end is a negative cricket. If yes then you are excusing 10 players for not staying at the wicket and criticising the player, who is staying at the wicket and scoring, for playing negatively.shame on people like you for making such a stupid analysis. For people like u if Ganguli had scored 20 runs of 15 to 20 balls and got out, it would have been a positive cricket and the result-- India all out for 120 runs. And what the positive cricket of Dravid was doing? Can u highlight any contribution of Dravid in world cup either as a batsman or as a captain.

why are you living with these figures, do they matter when BCCI appoints captains [these days, new turnaround] or when selectors pick up teams..... they dont, sauravs fault, he performed, how dare he does that?

No Vice-captain
by Akbar Khan on Apr 21, 2007 12:42 PM  Permalink

The BCCI working committee and the selectors could not select a vice captain. Looking at the team, I can understand why. Pretty obvious that other than the failed captain, there is no alternative. Within 2 years, the board and its policies (that includes pampering the big-mouth Greg Chappell) have depleted indian cricket. This board must go.

Indian Cricket Team Selection
by amitava sarma on Apr 21, 2007 12:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A real horrendous job done by the bunch of jokers headed now by a so called colonel Why is Sehwag again included? Apacer like Ranadeb shd have made the grade. Rahul shd also have been dropped his experience and walling has got little significance. Just see Brian he loses accepts defeat and quits Rahul can never be Lara or Ponting!Make Mahendra Singh Skipper he may be inexperienced but one thing he has is Courage like what Sourav had when he was Skipper

Sachin & sourabh are talented player. Why They are agreed with Dravid. It is pure poltics to drop Sachin & Sourabh and Support to Dravid.Sourbh is unlucky.

With this Thinking Team ka kabhi bhala nahin hoga.

One thing more, every one Knows , Theree is no allrounder in Indian team. It is our good luck , That We have recd. good allrounder like Irphan. It is out of minfd , Why are selecters saying him to give hsi full attention only for bowling , If he can able to give best performance , We should support him in both area , not single area.

Best of luck for indian team

pathan exclusion is really ridiculous, these selectors really spoiling his career, i dont understand why he was dropped - may be his bowling not good at the moment, but he is in good nick with the bat, really this is upsetting.

why Sehwag ?
by abdul fahim on Apr 21, 2007 12:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I havent seen any selection committee in the world which is as blind as ours. Wasnt their any other option other than Sehwag in India ? Why BCCI and the selection committe giving him chance again and agian ? If Sehwag had little bit of shame left over in him he would never think of batting for India. Though Kaif and Pathan had done well they were not given a chance.
Shame on BCCI and selection committee, especially Mr. Vengsarkar who is still praising Sehwag and giving him a chance to play.

Shams, he's a wet bomb. If any player clicks, he wont be bad, really. That applies to Raina, Gambhir, and even Irfan.

Its kind of difficult to ascertain the truth in this .... "Agar chalgaya toh acchha hai" is not right. Chalna he hoga, esp when you are required to "chalo"

Sehwag is much better than many others. For exampe, he is at least much better choice than Uthappa. Please think before writing. I expect him to be top scorer in the series, as in the last cup.

AUSTRALIA IS ROPING IN YOUNG TALLENTS COZ IT PLAYS MORE CRICKET
by SURYAPRAKASH TATA on Apr 21, 2007 12:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

THE ONLY SUCCESS BEHIND AUSTRALIA IS IT PLAYS MORE TESTS AND ONEDAY INTERNATIONAL WHERE IT BLENDS ITS SENIOR AND YOUNG TALLENTS FORM TIME TO TIME ON ROTATION POLICTY WHICH IS PAYING THEM ALOT. MIKE HUSSAY IS IN AND AROUND FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS AS WELL MICHAEL CLARK WITH STUART CLARK BRACKEN HOGG WERE TESTED FROM TIME TO TIME AND KEPT IN AND OUT IN TOUCH.

IT IS POSSIBLE JUST BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT THEY PLAY MORE HENCE PLAYERS NEEDS BREAK ALSO.

INDIA TOO ADOPT THAT POLICY ONLY. 20 TEST IN YEAR AUSTRALIA PLAYS/ INDA HALF OF THEM. EVEN LESS SOME TIMES. IT IS LACK OF PLANNIN. INDIA IS VAST IN CRICKEING TALLENT HENCE WE MUST PLAY MORE AND MORE AND WE SHOULD KEEP BRINGING ONE OR TWO NEW EVERY SERIES AFTER SERIES AND TRIAN THEM AT THAT LEVEL.
