Bashar still dreaming of SEMI FINAL Berth.
by Raja Sengupta on Apr 16, 2007 10:01 AM  Permalink

Yaa, that is true, infact he thought of beating IRELAND and moving closer for SF berth as because IRELAND too doesnot deserve a SUPER 8 Status.

But Now, Mr Bashar, IRELAND is very new to International Cricket, so who doesnot deserve a SUPER 8 Status.

After this, he went into hiding. He will be back to Bangladesh in disguise

Yes of course Ireland will played good cricket compared to Bangladesh. Bangaladesh also not so bad cricket team but they have to work hard and we shold know that u cannot predict in one day cricket which team going to win. I beleave Ireland can be like Australia one day but they have to work hard and ICC should give them more chances.

Pressure?
by George on Apr 16, 2007 09:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Take the case of Brazil football team..brazil is a football crazy nation.there is tremendous pressure and expectation from the media and the fans each time they take to the ground..but they deliver almost everytime..they perform on par with the money and honour they get, unlike the lazy foolish indian cricket team..if you cant deal with the pressure, get out..thats the right way to do it..its true for any proffessional field..sports or otherwise.

Why India lost ?
by Prasad Shastri on Apr 16, 2007 07:51 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India lost to Bangladesh because they were afraid of losing to an inferior ranked side. As an unit, India in the last 20 years have consistently lost key matches and finals irrespective who the opponent, coach or captain are. This fear of losing is due to the pressure and hype of expectations created by the media and fans. It is easy for us to criticise that if they earn the kind of money they do, then they should be able to handle it.

Bangladesh is going thru the same phase after beating India and then South Africa and they lost to Ireland ranked lower than them and a non test playing side because they tried too hard not to lose.

Bangladesh is also a cricket crazy country.

In the other countries cricket is not the only sport and therefore does not get hyped to that extent.

So fans would be dissapointed if Australia or South Africa lost key matches but would analyze the defats rather than behave in a crazy fashion.

this is absuletly true india lost mach against bangladesh because fear of high expectation from media and fans. thay never played actual cricket in Crunch maches. thay have not given there 100%. this i said in my eairler comment. hence environment and cycology and motivation (motivation is bette than pressure)is very important
because of lack of these thease two things though India have capability(potential) thay are not able to execute it. BCCI shold look in to this matter seriously. This will be good for indian cricket also. according to me there shoud be limitations for players to focuse on cricket thay should be froffetional. there should be pressure but pressure shoud not affect to there game. by keeping rest of the thong aside thay should have only thing in the mind is to win matches. in the games some times thay have to accept loss the match also thay should not bother about that. there is always win and lose in the games.

Dear Sanjeev,

Greetings,

What you said makes a lot of sense. Its not just losing.. its bout the way u lose. Furthermore, the way u pick urself after defeat n planning not to repeat the same mistakes.

Wat our team lacked is attitude on most of the occasions.

I believe lack of well defined performance criteria for players has led to this casual attitude.

I heard about BCCI is bout to announce their new compenstion plan where emphasis is on performance related bonus.

But for that they need to outline performance parameters for different positions/roles in the team rather than just Batsmen n bowlers.

Its got b more specific.

For instance, v have n opener who scores 50 off 89 balls (not taking singles, missing baad balls etc) n we have lower middle order batsman who scored 45 off just 20 deliveries.

The latter gets man of the match but...

Still, as per prevailing BCCI stupidity, the latter will not get the bonus.

BCCI will need 2 luk into this sooner or later.
