indias future is bright if....................................
by SHAILESH PRASAD on Apr 16, 2007 03:46 PM  Permalink

bcci wants only the ready made plyers to come and join the team to strugle in winning the matches.bcci should mend the plyers such that they can cope with any types of situations and should have the good stocks of players who can be used any time as australian team is now having.bcci should not waste its money in wastefull activities.we should appoint only the already existing good old players as the coach of the team.

hi
so you all are saying that u need mr.x not mr.y not a south indian but a north indian. well its because of the same shitty thinking our game is like that. If you look at captain's gavaskar was a good player but kapil was a better captain. does that mean gavaskar is not a good cricketer he was a great cricketer. azhar had also won many matches when compared with the so called greats but he also had some bad things done. ganguly won many matches but had a attitude, sachin was a good batsmen but lost his game when was made the captain. Rahul is one who had been performing and also keeping decency. Cricket is a team game and the captain cannot do it all, rahul cant do it all by himself, sourav cannot do it all by himself, sachin cannot do it all by himself. All the team members need to play together. he has been doing a good job trying to keep the team together so give him time. And all of you try to get all your team which ever company you work for and organise a party and see how successfull you are. then you come back and talk about captaincy. Better u all learn first to manage a team and then talk about a team leader. Dont just shoot words with ur intelligence.

I think u r a little bit confused fellow, success of a captain is solely measured how many matches his team WON!!!
and individual player performence .... different people have different opinions and my opinion is...

In a team game , How many times your good performance contributed to success of the team or how many times u performed OUTSTANDING when team is in danger

Pls give your opinion then we go for further discussion

A spineless captain who loves back stabing teammates...
by Rahul Roy on Apr 14, 2007 04:33 PM  Permalink

Dravid is not a powerful leader and has no self belief. He is too introvert & self centered to be a captain. For his selfish act and self interest he (with the help from another two similar minded person Greg& More ) turned the 'Team India'( inherited from great Ganguly era) to a collection of great players. If you can%u2019t build a team then you can not be a team leader. Without a 'team' you can't win. Consequently we dropped from ICC ranking 2 to 6. He has no influencing power and doesn't have any charisma to be a captain. He himself understands that. That%u2019s why now he got another a couple of south colleagues (Prasad & Sing) to get the help, support and the 'power' to make the players agree to his silly plans. Remember if that plain fails he will complain like a child that his players didn%u2019t support him.

A person who can%u2019t lead himself how can he lead 1.2 billion people ?

If a simple man like me can understand, why all the so called experts and knowledgeable BCCI persons can%u2019t understand that?

I think they do understand. But this is the board politics and the part of the arrangement how they came into power. The current management doesn%u2019t care about Indian cricket . As long as they are in power and get the money everything else is fine. DRAVID IS THEIR YES MAN. They just want to put people%u2019s attention to something different, so that they are not judge by their own performance.

The players should go if they are not performing. But so do the captain, coach & the BCCI management. Because of their combined effort India has slipped down to ICC ranking 6, from ICC ranking 2, when they took power from the previous board.

Only in India we sack our most successful captain after a series win while the captian scored a ton in his last test innings. But we keep our captain (and probably our coach too if he wanted to stay) after such a measurable performance in world cup, champions trophy and so on%u2026.

I think we should change attitude towards cricket tournaments. Just like Olympics we should say participation is the main thing. We don%u2019t want to win; all we want our good boy Dravid as captain. The team won%u2019t win and the players won%u2019t demand. After all its BCCI who are there to control the players and show who are in charge. Not to help or listen to the player or sort our player%u2019s or support%u2019s problem.

For his introvert, selfish act he turned the 'Team India'( inherited from great Ganguly era) to a collection of great players. Consequently we droped from ICC ranking 2 to 7. Without a 'team' you can't be a team leader. He is not powerful and doesn't has any carisma .Now he got another a couple of southie collegues ( Prasad & Sing) to form the 'power' to infulence players according to his plans.

No more statistics please
by Atal Advani on Apr 12, 2007 03:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We have a lot of uneducated people here who pick up statistics from google and paste it here ....so when I play one match and win that match my average will show 100% is that performance?? if I play 100 matches and win 99 matches my average will show 99% so which performance is better 100% in one match or 99% in hundred matches ...dravid and gangulys comparison is like that ....dravid doesnt even know how to walk straight if you compare him with ganguly....i mean these are simple things which some idiots cannot understand ...there is no point comparing gold with cowdung dravid.....and this amazing argument that ganguly played slow in the world cup shows how ungreatful and ill mannered indians can get for people who are trying to serve the country....ganguly was slow because he was holding one end .....that was what any intelligent cricketer who has played any cricket will do ....that is what ponting did the other day against england ....he didnt do anything flashy .....i mean the completely illitrate indian public will neva understand these things ...they think cricket has to be played the way sehwag plays ....thats why indian cricket is in this position today the indian team cannot remembre the last time they lasted 50 overs .......hahahahaha and dravid takes advantage of this non cricketing public to shamelessly hold on to his position as captain ....look at lara look at inzimam ..they immidiately stepped down and took complete responsibility and not a single person had the guts to criticize them after they announced retirement ..where as our shameless dravid after disgracing India and cheating india now thats good cricket still wants to be captain , he wants to negotiate about endorsements with BCCI I mean how shamless can someone get ...and here we are trying to disgrace a former captain who is also known to be the most successful captain of all time for working sincerely to get himself a place in the team and doing a very successful comback and standing up for india when the whole team was falling apart like a pack of cards ....Suman Bhat I am not a communal guy I speak from my knowledge of cricket and awareness of simple statistics of mean median mode

chappell hold mirror for dark side of ind crkciet
by Suman Bhat on Apr 12, 2007 01:22 PM  Permalink

chapell hold mirror for dark side of ind cricket. he tried to push the players from comfort zone, treated all players alike and equal, and his alligation that sponsers play a role in team selection and stretgy is true and many players spend the time in crease as per sponser requirment / conditions
marketing agents of players in collusion with media painted a larger than life picture of senior players and would have done behind the scenes harm to the younger players by manipulating media.
todays DNA newspaper carried out report that some players have signed the ad commercials till 2010 and nobody in bcci has guts to speak against these players or put them out of team.
All ex cricketers are blaming chappell nobody in bcci has guts to remove these players.
Today's DNA newspaper carried out report that some star players who had major roel in WC debacle, had singed the ad commercials till 2010.. and these players will be in team and perform as per ad clause...chappell%u2019s alligantion that sponsers play an imp role in team stretagy / selection and also wants the batsman to spend more time in crease. Loss of Indian Team in WC is due to these egoistic rotten heads
Many senior players will treat themselves as leaders not wanted to be led by leader. Its great tht even after handing over easy victory by Indian legends(sachin, viru, dhoni ganguly), dravid handed over a bat to Iqbal Tamim. This shows dravid is a true sportsman.

TEAM INDIA needs YOUNG LEGS!!!!!!!!!
by satyadev gowda on Apr 12, 2007 09:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

OK.
But can someone explain to me these three things..............
During the Champions Trophy,Did team India under our great leader and Captain, Dravidji, have young players?YES

During the Champions Trophy,Did team India under our great leader and Captain, Dravidji,
had the VISION/PROCESS working?YES

SO WHY THE HELL DID TEAM INDIA WITH ALL THE JUNIOR/YOUNG BLOODED PLAYERS still LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND?
WAS it the media pressure?
WAS it the Championship format?
WAS it that the young blooded players were acting like MAFIA?
OR
WAS IT THAT DRAVIDJI is not a GOOD captain?

YOU TELL ME........

Team Loser
by Gorango Thakurta on Apr 10, 2007 11:30 AM  Permalink

Keeping Dravid as captain again shows the moral depletion of India%u2019s policymakers.

India is a country full of talent and ambition, but when anyone tries to put forward great ideas, they are met with politics and are frustrated. Then they just give up, and go away. So, at the end of the day, complete losers are left to call the shots.
I really had hopes that the BCCI would take this opportunity to axe all the current "stars" and build a new team with young and motivated players and announce a new captain. I thought they would show vision for the future (e.g., win WC 2011)... in which case, this was a great chance to experiment with a completely new team against Bangladesh. This would help build team spirit and a hunger for victory.

Kapil's 1983 team was much weaker than our 2007 team - on a man-to-man basis. But they worked as a TEAM, and their spirit was unbeatable. I cannot imagine this happening under Dravid - whose body language at the WC2007 was clearly that of a loser.

Oh well... I know there are thousands like me who want to see India become champions, but are totally frustrated by the politics that prevents success. And, finally, when the heat of the moment is gone, we just give up and become silent spectators.

by v viswanathan on Apr 10, 2007 07:00 AM  Permalink

We have been hearing that, TEAM INDIA needs young legs in indian cricket.

But let me ask you onething, IRFAN, SREESHANTH, DINESH are few of the young legs went to west INDIES. SO why were they not allowed even in a single match? Whose fault is this?
Chappel ?
Dravid ?
As we know everyone is blaming at senior Cricketers?

I also feel dravid, sachin ganguly and others are not just good players they are great and no one is taking the credit away from them they have given a lot to india but now the game has changed and we need to move on
raji trophy and these idiotic changes like ban on ads, match fees are completely useless we need to think out of the box here
we need to understand very clearly that IF WE DONT HAVE GOOD PLAYERS ON THE FEILD WE CANNOT WIN A MATCH and we dont have 1 international level player in India today...there is no youngster like the young tendulkar when he was 19 or dravid when he was 21 or ganguly when he was 21 ...we need to do something very different...we need to go to the remote places in india and hand pick 30 unemployed youngsters who are 6.5 feet tall people who are kapil devs height weight and build then we should train them to play cricket with heart and character and we should train them to play cricket hard
