It is indeed great to see someone taking on the job that should have been handled by board. It is no secret that likes on Lalit Modi & Dalmiya enters the governing body due to smell of money with nothing to show in terms of cricketing brains or ability in administration. He needs to rope in test cricketers with ability to manage the show to take a run on the powerful board.Best of luck Mr.Chandra.
Its a good and excellent proposal for the growth of the game and young budding talent in India. But I strongly believe that BCCI wont allow this because it will end their monopoly (if I can use this word) and surely they wouldnt like somebody overtaking them.....

Let them goto hell! competition is necessary in India.. We will change one letter in the word cricket (crickot, may be) if that means BCCI is out of business. The votes of highly in favor of ZEE's initiative on www.cricketvotes.com
i m full y agreed with Vijay as some one also came up to take the other games also in such a way. ZEE's proposal is good one but soem have to take care of the other sports on the same line
It would have been much better if Zee had done the same for Hockey, which is our national sport. Already cricket is over commercialised by BCCI. We do not need another commercialisation of the same sport at the domestic level. It is hockey that needs immediate attention.

Excuse me Mr.Vijay who told you that hockey is our national game. Just because we were very good at it once does not mean it is our national game

For HOCKEY, ESPN-Star Sports is already doing the same, with PHL (premier Hockey League and already it is 2nd year of PHL now) ..... Dont get over excited... Before giving out some comments and suggestions, be sure what is going around you...

Sorry gentleman, Mr. KPS Gill(Kill) has already killed Indian hockey. Indian cricket is in the ICU, there is some hope, hockey is in the mortuary

Nothing better than this to control the mammoth oversized egoist board. What has it done for cricket ?? All other boards (ACB for e.g.) have outgrown on our money, if all the eleven players are removed from the Aussie team the new eleven would be as good or better than the previous lot. Thats the strenght of the bench. What about us? not yet able to find a replacement of Tendulkar.
Good Show Mr. Chandra !! BCCI here comes competition! The board members now have a choice of employment too !! Hopefully now the Kumbhkarna will wake up from its sleep.
this is really a good move and will help thousands of good players who dont have money or support to build their career. such initiatives will encourage cricket Similar steps should be followed in other games. such positive move will help to nurture thousands of careers and will build lively hood for millions.
Almost all the comments in this section is towards one direction of Zee TV's move on promotiong Cricket, specifically after the Indian Team's poor performance in WC 2007. Most the comments are with the expectation of some hope for better cricket in future.
I certainly agree that this is a good move, but we should not fail to note down the following points:
1. In any business/industry, when there is a monopoly enjoying the entire business prospects, naturally new players will come in to share the business. BCCI is making money in the cricket business (errrr..Sports). Zee TV's move is to share this profitable business?
2. BCCI will definately reject the proposal from Zee TV since it may not like any new entery in to their business scope. In that case Zee TV will have a parrellel set up with many youn tallented players, but those players will not be selected for national team because of ego clash of these two institutions. Thus there is possibility of wasting the young tallernts.
3. Zee TV being a profit oriented organisation, will try to earn money through advertisements and pay the players part of it and retain their margin. When it involves margin to them, definately, it will result in all decisions of improving cricket will have at the back of the mind, making money and it may become like another BCCI?
The above are the negative side of the Zee TV's move and if the above points will be proved to be wrong, then definately it is a good move by Zee TV to promote cricket in India.

Just another madness Mr Chandra. Invest these 100 crores to buid a hospital for poor, provide drinking water to thousands of villages, sponsor education of some poor upper cast children- we have enough of madness on cricket. Why add more?

Is the BCCI team our national team. I still remember Jagmohan Dalmia once quoting that "This is BCCI team, not India's team".

I agree with u in the sense that their prime motive may be money, but it would certainly add value to the game. I mean the standard of the game will improve, as these games will be aired live on Television )of course Zee Sports, it would be) and youngsters will get exposure. And Yes, I also fear it will create a parallel body, which would be the worst case scenario.
All this while there has been a debate going about whether india should have a foreign coach or not. how about having an exclusive set of foreign selectors who have absolutely no idea or give a damn to the internal politics. no north zone .... south zone basis. they can pick the team based only on performance. in this way, the selectors will be professionals.
now we will have ... Team Zee Team Star One Team Star Plus Team AXN Team HBO Team CNBC Team Sanskar Team B4U Team Sony Team FTV (Ex indian players) .... .... .... .... and Team INDIA (budding indian players, who would then graduate to Team FTV)
A tight Slap on BCCI and its selection process. Zee TV creates a climate of hope and expectation. Combination of Former Cricketers, International Cricketers, coach, physio, and psychological trainer will definately produce some world class cricketers.
