Match Fixing controversies
by v giri on Mar 27, 2007 09:42 AM  Permalink

I personally opine with present strength of Indian Glamerous Batsmen (most of them having much experience of ODIs/WCs as also good number of runs and averages in their bags), INDIA lose Vs Bangladesh (setting a meagre target)and Vs Sri Lanka (collapsing like Pack Card Building throwing wickets of their own) is certainly leading to controversies of match fixing. There must be stringent probe in these two losses viewing the video clippings and initiate actions the people involved, as it's shamful for the country for which they are representing in other's soil and more so to cricket fans, who had great hopes of INDIA winning WC this year. Some fans have either commited suicide or some are affected with illness due hyper tensions, etc. etc. for which ICC / BCC / Indian Players should be hold responsible. Indian players are bothered about earning monies through Advertisements and participating in different Shows, and as a result the quality of cricket has been strangled to death long time ago and hence they are least bothered about INDIA's fame and Cricket Lovers.
Now, the question is not changing the Team Coach nor the Captain. The need of hour is to drop all the players who are earning monies throgh other Media (Advertisements & Shows) and select young and talented players who play Cricket and rebuild a New Team altogether.
ICC / BCC is aware that changing Coach & Captain in the present Cancer plagued Team will not fetch any fruit.
Thanks and regards,

POOR PERFORMANCE
by DAVIDSON JAMES! on Mar 27, 2007 09:33 AM  Permalink

It is really shameful to say that tigers gone down to rat. The failure of our WC entry to super 8 gone to the captain and the coach. We have good fast bowlers (Sreesanth & Irfan Pathan) who doesnt give any chance to play any of the match. What is the logic behind to take to West Indies. Just for a picnic. After the failure with Bangladesh, The coach and captain didnt learnt lesson that our bowlers is just jokers and they are commited to their work.

Also, the blame goes to BCCI, particularly, because our cricketers getting money from Advertising. So where the motivation comes in the sports. First this should stop and ban five players for at least 3-5 years (SHEWAG, SACHIN ENDULCAR, DHONI, UTTHAPPA AND RAHUL DRAVID). Give them chance to young blood.

Where is Mr. Clean Balaji. Why the board hesitant to induct such a nice bowler. There no need question coach or captain. If we want to question, please go to BCCI and ask Sharad Pawar and Vengsarkar. What they are doing.

If this highly profiled people dont have motivation, how players will get. I am very sorry and once again CONGRATULATIONS TO INDIAN TIME, SO CALLED TIGERS (BUT NOW THEY ARE RAT)

Divine Justice is Wainting to be delivered

The telegraph reported the possibility of Saurav

being the captain again.

All anti Saurav jealous guys will die if it comes true.

Divine Justice is Wainting to be delivered

Sourav comes into the picture

- Opinion seems divided within BCCI on Team India captaincy issue

LOKENDRA PRATAP SAHI

Sourav

Calcutta: While coach Greg Chappell%u2019s fate is as good as sealed, opinion within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seems divided on the leadership issue.

%u201CI think it%u2019s time for a passionate captain,%u201D somebody involved with the selection process told The Telegraph on Monday evening.

He wished to remain anonymous.

While Sachin Tendulkar was vice-captain till the World Cup, the gentleman indicated Sourav Ganguly stood a better chance of getting back the captaincy, which was taken away in October 2005.

His argument: Barring the odd innings, Sourav has been %u201Cmost consistent%u201D since his comeback in mid-December.

In runs and averages, that translates to 214 (42.80) in three Tests and 509 (63.62) in ten ODIs.

Yet, it%u2019s not that Rahul Dravid doesn%u2019t have support in the corridors of power.

Somebody else associated with the selection process remarked he would %u201Cfirst%u201D like to interact with the World Cup manager (and selector), Sanjay Jagdale.

This gentleman, too, didn%u2019t want to be identified.

%u201CIt wouldn%u2019t be fair to judge Dravid%u2019s captaincy on the basis of what one saw on the TV%u2026 Just how warm was the team spirit in the dressing room? Did everybody prepare as they should have? These answers can best come from the manager,%u201D he said.

Sourav%u2019s performances have been well documented, but where will a tilt in his favour leave senior-most pro Sachin?

Surely, he wouldn%u2019t have accepted the vice-captaincy (in mid-January), after yet another poor tour of South Africa, if he wasn%u2019t mentally prepared to again captain India.

Sachin, however, had been reluctant to take up the responsibility when he last got the job (July 1999) and relinquished it some seven months later.

It was a listless tenure. Moreover, appearing weighed down, he%u2019d even forgotten to smile in that short period.

Sachin never quite came across as a charged-up and innovative captain in his first innings (August 1996-December 1997) either.

A great batsman isn%u2019t necessarily an extraordinary leader.

%u201CLook, a knee-jerk reaction won%u2019t help%u2026 Isn%u2019t the captain only as good as his team? We%u2019ve got to make a rational and not emotional call,%u201D is what a key BCCI official emphasised.

Dravid%u2019s batting may not have suffered, but he doesn%u2019t breathe fire and is, well, conservative.

Then, how about accountability for the awful body language throughout a miserable World Cup?

Significantly, at the moment, there%u2019s no move to %u201Cgamble%u201D and give the No. 1 job to somebody young.

Sourav is soon going to be 35, while Sachin turns 34 next month.

The BCCI, obviously, is keen to play with bat close to pad.

Ganguly inherited a battered team torn by match fixing controversies which even Sachin refused to lead.

He hand picked players like Yuvraj, Kaif, Nehra, Balaji, Zaheer, Harbhajan.

He insisted Sreenath to stay on.

He made effective use of Kumble

Laxman in suitable situations and pitches.

Even Dravid was a very shaky and slow one day player.

Gangly protected him from being dropped and lost.

He even made him to keep wicket just to justify his place in the team.

Dravid Chappel from day one started disturbing the rythm of the Indian team. The team hand picked by Ganguly fetched initial good results for Dravid also.

As time passed by the entire enthusiasm

evaporated.

Everybody became shaky.

None was sure about his position.

All suffered from identity crisis.

Pathan was destroyed in the process.

So many mistakes they have committed

it would be another Mahabharat.

Only foolish regional robots like would disagree

with me.

Ganguly used his limited strength brilliantly.

He knew how to get what from his team mates.

He used his brain in field setting ball changing.

He encouraged everybody to perform.

Dravid is no no way near Ganguly,

you must admit today after the debacle.

I agree with you mate Ganguly was the best captain ever I had seen.....I am a punjabi, I dont believe in regoinalism.......I wont be happy if Harbhajan is retained but I seriously want either ganguly or yuvraj should be crowned as the captian, the other person could be the vice captain.......give one year to seesanth to mature and he can be drafted as the captain.....that guy has got agression and he is inspiring. He is a bit of an allrounder, just let him mature himself. Thats my opinion

I am satisfied with you comment but my friend cant you find that Ganguly is already 33 and above. And not able to field and bowl then till the next world cup how can he perform good as his age will not support him to perform good. But as you think I also agree that Yuraj should be made a long captain.

enough of oldies resting in past laurels
by Jack on Mar 27, 2007 06:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Horrified to hear that Sachin will be next captain. I think he should gracefully retire now that he is not even underperforming...
He has made his crores what will he do with more?
why selectors do not dare to drop him?
Is there a hidden reason behind retaining him ?
Those who mauntain statistics, please tell us how many times that India needed him to fire and he failed (as in recent game with Srilanks, even Bangladesh)
please respond asap

Mate you are absolutely correct. But this very people who are talking against Sachin will protest like mad burning effigies of the selectors, hitting their posters with footware if they happen to drop him. People are asking who will be replacing some one of the caliber of sachin. Why they forget that some day they have to replace him? Yes tendulkar was a great player and that player cannot be replaced. But Tendulkar of now who is scoring Zeros in crucial matches can be replaced coz anyone can score Zero.

India Cricket- Plan for future
by on Mar 27, 2007 05:24 AM  Permalink

the best way to make a strong team for the future is: Pick a good under 16 and under 19 players and send them ovarseas to play with other teams routinely to play on fast pitches and pace bowlers. They should also be encouraged to devolap other skills, positive attacking play and self confidence is very importent in ODI games. that would come only with experiance. KIRAN DAVE.

Who is the next captain?
by Somi Mathew on Mar 27, 2007 02:57 AM  Permalink

Tendulkar would be the next captain..and Agarkar would also remain in the team.. As he managed to do that for the last 8 or more years. Poor Dravid & Chappel is going to get all the blame..
This is Indian cricket..powered by Mumbai inspired by Saharth Powar, Gawaskar & Vengsarkar

A New team Should be formed.
by Suja on Mar 27, 2007 12:38 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There are lots of good players waiting for the opportunity, So the total team should be dismised and a new team of young, energitic team should be formed.

Our players cant play well provided with good salary, opportunity and Coach. We can find lots of better players in the streets of our country.

they can play very well than this team.

Everybody should raise against these players and bring in young, talented all rounders

RE:A New team Should be formed.
by Ramlal on Mar 27, 2007 12:41 PM  Permalink
Yes you are correct a new team should be selected. But my dear it will not be whole team to me because there are young and good players existing in the present team. Their presence will be a boost to the young(Freshers) players. As you think I also agree that all the players like Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Zaheer khan, Agarkar(Agarkar should be removed at any cost) Harbhajan, kumble etc. should be removed. But I read in papers and also by many persons that Tendulkar should be made captain. I think that if this happens again the selectors will be mistaken because till the next world cup he will become old and also other senior players, again the same will be repeated for the next world cup(an early exist). To avoid that, young players should be selected so that they will learn how to play in any condition or at any place(I mean that they will become experienced).
