Sayanora Chappel
by Hinoo Bakra on Apr 04, 2007 10:19 PM  Permalink

Indian cricket will get a chance to be on track again. The Chappel Way was to take two steps back and throw underarm comments to destroy the team you were hired to coach. Talk of biting the hand that fed you !

Why Should Sachin Saurav Dravid Retire?

Why Should Sachin Saurav Dravid Retire?

Tell me India why should any of the three

retire? Tell me India which newcomer you can

rely upon?

Utthuppa, Kartick, Raina or who better than

these three?

Unless you find suitable new players you cannot

simply ask the old guards to take rest.

I feel the coach and the captain failed to perform the role they were supposed to.

1. Coach must keep watch over the old tested players.

If someone is failing it is not always prudent to remove him.

You analyse as a coach the reasons of such failures. Give him confidence. Dont make him shaky.

Tell him to change his batting stance, tell himto change the weight of the bat.

With age people lose a few things but gain many, like experience and confidence.

This you will have to honour as a coach.

It is very easy to simply pass on the buck to senior players or players.

It is more difficult to extract the best ouf your limited resources.

It requires prudence and patience.

Chappel lacked both of it.

Dravid was equally hopeless.

He did not make up the lapses and lacuna of the coach.

As a batsman Dravid Sachin and Saurav has still left a good amount of cricket in them but may never be upto the next cup.

Bangladesh was playing with 12 players in WC win against India. whereas India played with 10 players.

Ganguly played for himself and Bangladesh.

Partition of India- A second time
by on Apr 04, 2007 02:55 PM  Permalink

It's not just the WC-2007 that India seems to have lost. What chappel has very successfully managed is not just breaking the team but also public opinion and belief in their own team and its members. Just look through all the entries and see for yourself how within an Indian team support base there are the Dravid-11s, Die hard Ganguly (read bengali) fan base, sachin lovers and sachin loathers, and 100 such divisions.

Cricket is a team game and we probably were never one to qualify for such a sport at the first place. Forget winning the cup, be happy we got embarassed by only a Bangladesh & Sri Lanka rather than 6 more better teams in the Super 8.

For all those baying for the blood of a sachin, ganguly, zaheer, sehwag... please suggest the reinforcements! (It's not as if an RP Singh or a Raina was not given enough chances).

Mr. Chappel might be just be passing the buck and rooting for the Aussies (coz 2 good but maverick teams in India & Pakistan who could have possibly upset the applecart are gone).

The 'experiments' and the clinical aussie way simply does not work for Indian cricket. Like everything else we play this game with heart and sorry to say but with such an atmosphere within the team, it's unlikely that the player's heart would be in the game.

For the future, please reinstate what works best for Indian cricket

1. Sachin-Sourav, was, is and will be the best opening combination (stop fiddling around with sachin's role)

2. As for Ganguly. now it's your time to support Dravid like he did during your captaincy and selflessly made possible all your great records as a captian.

3. For Dravid, u are a grt guy, but for Godsake , realise now that it's sachin, sourav, yuvi and the likes who are your own kin, not a certain Mr. Chappel. Stop being used!

And for team India start playing like 'India' rather than trying to become a professional south africa and ending up worse than bangladesh.

4. Dravid-Ganguly-Sachin in combination is the best think tank we can have. Guys get together and groom someone like Yuvi for the future skipper. (how seniors like jayasurya and murli back jaywarshane)

It's sad but true. Chappel's home team is still in the cup. Our's isn't.

So all you dravid, ganguly, sachin clubs... stop making us all feel as if Chappel has managed to part this nation a second time.

Tendulkar and Chappell
by on Apr 04, 2007 02:07 PM  Permalink

Tendulkar has served the country for around 17 yrs which is a great achievement. Over the last 5 yrs his performance has been bad by his own standards and he was down with lot of injuries. He also set high expectations in the initial 12 yrs and people forgot that its a team game.

Hence we cant blame Tendulkar for India losing matches but the whole team as they also need to stand up and be counted when it matters. There have been numerous occations in the past when Tendulkar has made a big score and India have lost because others did not contribute enough.

Instead of continuing this debate on Tendulkar, we should allow him to choose when he will retire and how long he will play.

As far as Chappell is concerned, what he contriuted to Indian cricket before he became coach is far greater than what he contributed after he became coach. That speaks volumes of the damage this man has done to Indian cricket.

I feel he is just trying to follow the policy of divide and rule much like the British did more than over a century ago and if we give in to Mr Chappell its nothing more than a NATIONAL SHAME!!!

Dravid is best.
by Suvendu Sahoo on Apr 04, 2007 12:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

when dravid made captain team was broken ship and ranked NO8th in ICC rankingnow even after so many defeats it is ranked NO 6th( till yesterday's varified)
dravid is still No 12th in odi ranking.

Throw Tendulkar, Harbhajan for their performance. And Ganguly for starting his politics inside the team. We are watching because our national team is playing. Not because of tendulkar or ganguly is playing. And give some chances to Sehwag and Agarkar. if they fail, kick them out.

if everyone goes against one, that person can't do anything. Players like Tendulkar is useless right now. He very well knows he is of no use. But he is in the team for his past performance. People are not blind. They have been watching Tendulkar's performance for the last few years. His last century in a test match is about 2 years before. Isn't showing his lack of form? But Tendulkar is now fully money-minded. I guarantee you if he would be in Australlia team, he ould be thrown out of team many years before. In our country noone has that much ability to say something against him. So he is playing. And consider about Ganguly. How was his performance during the period 2000-2005. He was thinking himself as a king. He was only the placeholder at that time. At that time the success was because of Dravid, Yuvraj, Kaif, Shehwag, Harbhajan, Zaheer. But now noone of them are performing to their ability. We have got some respect from overseas because of Dravid's performance. if you see the tests we won on foreign tour during Ganguly's captaincy, that's because of Dravid's performance. Most of the time he rescued us from disaster. He has also scored more than 10,000 runs in one-day cricket. In test he is sort of 800 short of 10,000. He is a gift to india team. In most important matches and matches against great teams he is the only player performing. Match against SL in this world cup is a best example. The great test win against Australlia in Kolkata, that's because of Dravid and Laxman. But we are saying that because of Ganguly. But we have remembered the century of Tendulkar against Australlia in Sarjah. And he dedicated that century to his wife. If you see Tendulkar's performance, most of the century's are against minnows. And the century against better teams are in sub-continent pitches. But I am not favourite of any single player. I love my India team. But now everyone is saying against Dravid, so I can't sallow that. Tendulkar is in the team for his past performance and Ganguly for his success in captaincy. But if you think of Dravid, he is also no less to them. He was also doing very good captaincy till west indies tour, because our team was winning. But after that, shehwag lost his momentum, tendulkar is below average. In 30 matches he scores a good score. Dhoni is out of form. Pathan lost his form. Harbhajan is playing just as a gully cricketer. If every player is not doing well, what a captain can do. Can ganguly win matches? Be practical. Australlia has thrown the players like Mark and Steve waugh after seeing their decrease in performance. If you look all the test match wins in overseas in Dravid's career, that's because of great contribution from Dravid. But we are always ignoring him Please respect him. From my point of view, he is the best player from India till now. Dravid is reliable, rock, the wall. Without that much support, he is performing till now. But compare the support for Tendulkar and Ganguly. But what they are doing right now. Look the performances of Tendulkar for last few years. He is trying to make us fool. Ganguly was also thrown out of team because of his performance for 4 years. Not for politics. You can also look at the performance of him during that period. Just think the wellness of Indian team. Not support individually for the past experience, on the basis of region. When India wins, we are bcoming happy. If India looses and Tendulkar scored a century, we are not feeling well. So think of the whole team. Believe Dravid is best.

BCCI
by mohan on Apr 04, 2007 10:15 AM  Permalink

There is a point to be noted...

The board president and his team should step down after the poor performance of BCCI...you may ask why? BCCI's management has done very little to see what is going on the actual Team Indian. They were mostly looking forward for the commerical parts only and they never bothered about management, example...selectors are there, coach were there and the players. If any one of these segments are not doing well the board must act immediately and solve the issues. It all started from the Chap - Gangu spat, till today team india is divided due to various reason and board watching things and give interviews only now & then.

Lastly let a sports persons be the president and the key memebers, then sure TEAM INDIA will win 2011 (hopefully).
