This is strictly my opinion on the subject, and since it is a tricky subject I do not want to suggest a solution.
Reservations by nature are "anti-democracy". How can you differentiate people based on their caste/sect/religion and call it a democracy? Democracy means freedom!!
Anyone who has more votes wins, similarly anyone who has more merit should win! If someone has merit but does not have the means to exhibit it, he/she should be given a platform to show it.
The government should concentrate on creating a social, financial and political infrastructure to facilitate equal opportunities.
E.g. If a person is willing to participate in civil services, do not give him a reserved seat. Instead give him means to get coaching to prepare for the exams, provide him facilities to gain more knowledge on his subject to improve himself. Back this up by financial aid/subsidy/loans where required. If this person has it in him/her, will get through in the selection process, if not maybe is better for some other job.
One argument by these groups demanding reservation is "we were oppressed by higher casts for centuries".... agreed....the Indian class system is a mis-interpreted concept used to exploit poor! But does that mean we should go back to old days? Should kshyatriyas start training themselves again with weapons and use it?
Give reservations, but then ask the person to walk with a broom tied to the back, so that the road is not made impure for a brahmin to pass!!
Feed the remains of the dead Gujjars to the vultures, they have been deprived of good meat. Anyone who rips open railwaylines & destroyes our National Highways deserves such treatment, screw that moron Gujjar leader.

ST status should not b given to Gujjars, irrspective of, whether BJP promised or not. Gujjars r better of and r already getting reservations as OBC.
The highly selfish and greedy Gujjars hv wrongly destroyed railway property and obstructing movement of trains and buses.

These are UPA's achievements. Sonia has her own achievements. 1. Taking 17 years to become Indian. 2. Running away to Italy during Bangladesh war. 3. Hiding in Italian embassy when Indira Gandhi was about to be arrested. 4. Brought the greatest bofors scam along with Q. 5. Systematically eliminating good leaders in congress like Jitendra Prasada, Scindia, Pilot etc through 'accidents'. 6. Lying to the president that she has 272 members support. 7. Blasts, Blasts, more bomb blasts. (Terror incidents during BJP rule pales into oblivion when compared with last 3 yrs). 8. Nearing double-digit inflation.

did you read the manifesto? They never promised at the time of election after election when gurjers were demanding the Govt said they will try as per law. The reservation policy is groomed by your so called Congress(italian)

Now time have come to all political party to think above the party line and try to abolish quota system & allow the competition system for pece & best develop country india in the word
The intricacies of the situation are as follows- a large portion of the Central Service (IAS/ IPS/ IRS) officers posted in Rajasthan belong to the Meena community. The Meenas in Rajasthan, though essentially uplifted (as every other family in Meena dominated areas like Bharatpur has atleast one member in the IAS /IPS/ IRS), do not want the Gujjars to get ST status as that would essentially mean that the Meenas would have to share their ill-gotten 9% reserved quota with another powerful social class, at all costs. Since they control a large part of the administration in Rajasthan state and also have many of their clansmen in Central Departments, they are trying their best to prevent the Gujjars from getting the ST status, by being as brutal and ruthless as they can be. I believe, though the ulimate resposibility lies with Vasundhara Raje, much of the killings have occured without her consent (no political leader wants to look like a villian directly in the eyes of his/her voters), with the Meena brigade in the administration proactively ochestrating the killings. The inclusion of Jats, who are a larger and more upwardly mobile class than the Gujjars, in the OBC list has queered the pitch for the Gujjars, literally squeezing them out of the quota benefits. SO they want ST status, which the powerful Meena vehemently are resisting. The Congress, as usual, is trying to fish in troubled waters, using Sachin Pilot, a Gujjar himself, to fan the flames.
Are gujjars so naive that they are unable to think what they are doing? whats all these tamasha for.. even if they get ST its not a larger section is going to get a job..and as OBC they are already enjoying reservations.. so it merely shows the sick mentality of these gujjars and their leaders..
