Jyoti Basu is correct. The Governor ought to have taken up the matter with the Power Minister.
However, if the Governor wanted to suffer like other citizens, he could have instructed his staff to cut down the power for as many hours as needed for satisfying his sense of sacrifice. Being a grandson of Gandhi, he might need such acts of sacrifice. But, he should not embarrass the power minister and the WB government by seeking publicity for his acts of sacrifice.
As regards Jyoti Basu, the irony is he wants to talk about propriety of Governor's conduct. Heard of man living in glass house throwing stones?

It is time UPA abolishes the post of Governor atleast in WB, Kerala and Tripura. As a bargain, the nuclear deal may be put through.
The Governor has done the right thing to protest against the failure of the Communist government in Bengal. Unfortunately not a single Communist can take criticism inspite of the fact that they fail in every sphere of life. Look at Bengal - No proper Infrastructure, pollution in Kolkata is one of the highest in the world, Bandh culture is still thriving, corruption rampant at every levels in the goverment, the list goes on ... Jyoti Basu really needs to shut up now

NANDIGARM AND SINGUR WILL CHNAGE CPIM VOTE RESULT THIS TIME>
Mr. Basu is the man who started government sponsored bandhs in our country. He has no right to accuse the governor of acting against the state. Let us deport Basu and Yechuri to China where they truly belong - barking dogs of the Chinese Reds.
The action of the Rajyapal of west Bengal Gopal Krishna Gandhi is worth appreciating by all univocally. Gopal Krishna Gandhi being a grandson of Mahatma Gandhi carried his legacy of truthfulness & non-violence in his life. His decision to get power cut for two hours in Raj Bhawan to save consumption of energy when people living in Calcutta are facing acute problem of power cut for several hours is a most welcome proposition. It%u2019s a blow on the face of CPM Govt. Why Jyoti Basu feel should feel irked only just to save their face ? It is an abandon duty of the entire cabinet lead by Bhattacharya to follow the example set by the Rajyapal and get the power & other problems causing life of people at large very miserable solved at earliest.Jyoti Basu is one of the most old living politician who has remained Chief Minister of West Bengal for long. His utterances for the Rajyapal does not speak very high of him. It is bound to tarnish his image as a statesman.
First let commies learn, how to respect their own people.Infact what these commies did for WB. Power cuts are happening because the commies are not managing the power requirements.Infact they want the bengalis to live in 18th century.
You guys are forgetting that Mr Basu is a great leader. Why? Simply because he has skills. You guys don't know much about him. He's worked for the mankind and his views are probably not limited to the boundaries of India only.
