Media is the mouth of common public. If the common people have a right to say something, so does the media. They can criticize anything in a well democratic process.

Justice is not about revenge
by True Indian on Mar 24, 2008 08:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Justice is not about revenge. Eye for an eye and a like for a life. We are not in Saudi arabia and thank God for it.

Shram committed a serious crime. But it was out of desperation. Remember Shivani was sleeping with him and pregnant with his baby. She was not an innocent baby. Doent mean that she should have been killed or that she deserved to die but this is not one of those rarest of rare cases deserving death penalty

In saudi, justice is not given against the sheiks. It is reserved for Dravid's like True Indians and also to Aryans who took on Dravid religion ie. Hinduism.

Justice is not about revenge, it is about paying your dues to the society in which you committed the crime. If you commit a crime, you must pay and that payment depends upon the gravity of the crime. That is the way civilized society works. You may disagree whether he should be given a death penalty or not. In my opinion, if you take someone's life, you do not deserve to have yours.

I agree. This was truly a case of a LIFE FOR A LIFE.Shivani may not have been an innocent babe...does that make Sharma one?He was a govt.servant in a responsible position, married(supposedly happily)with two kids.India is not Saudi A ,but sometimes the justice system really needs to take a wake up call and punish the guilty rightfully.

Well said. We often forget the hardship, agony and pain of the relatives who did not deserve this treatment. Death sentence should be mandatory for first degree murder. If you do not give death sentence for first degree murder, then abolish it. The judge seems to have ignored the pain he inflicted to the victim as well as to the family of the victim and that is a gross mistake in his judgment.

Should be the classic case of death penalty
by Sudip Bhattacharjee on Mar 24, 2008 07:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This should be the classic case of death penalty. But what did the judge say?...

R K Sharma has an excellent service record as a police officer and extreme penalty is not needed in this case

- what the .... is the judge saying? Is this the way the Indian justice system works? He deserves death penalty and the judge made a huge mistake of not giving him. Past record of a person has nothing to do with first degree murder. He did not think about the relatives of the victims. They should appeal against the judgment immediately to higher court for the death penalty. I think in India we put undue sympathy to the criminal than what the victim deserves. Also remember that he will be eligible for parole after 14 years. So, I think, this is the height of stupidity of the Indian judicial system.

It is hurting so many people out here.
Seems like he should have not given himself to the justice system.
Do you think he needs some specialized training from "drug syndicate" to be a professional criminal.

Even Advani meets sonia gandhi at Holi so he gains prominence and appears as sole opposition leader...
Keeping all the rhetorics aside. Opposition is hand in glove and they know who needs to be tried, what case need to be tried for showoff and who needs to be left out.
Just a joke :
Advani went with his wife, Atal cannot compete with him unless he has a girlfriend to go with him.

It is shsocking to see some people even support RKS in this forum. I feel, he shoudl have been given maximum punishment considering the oath he sworn in to protect public. I am sure a common man in his position would have been handed capital punishment.

I don't live in India and when I lived in India, lived like a honest person. 40 years ago, stayed few miles away from "such" women.

But India has not MUCH to offer for honesty in return. Even survival is difficult at times for honest people.

Nope, with so much of smartness,
He should have have leaked information to drug syndicate and fetched few crores for himself and also asked them to keep Shivani Bhatnagar happy.

BUT HE sharma is NOT A PROFESSIONAL CRIMINAL AFTERALL. otherwise he would do quite well in India.

I KNOW MANY INDIANS ARE VERY PREJUDICED AGAINST HIS LAST NAME.
