Whatever media says, Advani never changed stand on Ayodhya, Gujarat, or Jinnah
by Tathagata Mukherjee on Mar 21, 2008 09:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is sign of a great leader.

I don;t know he will become PM or not. But he is eminently suitable, specially at this juncture of India.

Spcially in UP where Islamism, terrorism is becoming a major issue, and also as a location of Ayodhya, BJP will always remain powerful.

Look at the way she has taken stand against terrorism. Also she has banned Periyar's book.

She never said she will restore the mosque back.

When Ambedkar, a top intellectual, leader 1000 times more powerful, capable than Mayavati could not do anything, what will a one man army Mayavati do?

Nothing.

BJP/RSS has spread downward and bringing those supposedly 'lower castes' up in mainstream.

This is the right way. She will cease to be a factor within a decade.

Hmm
by Kaushik Das on Mar 21, 2008 09:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This man is probably the best man to have happened to India. He is less a politician and more a principled man. Why can't we Indians WANT TO have a strong leader for our country instead of weaklings like Mr sleepless-over-terrorist?

As far as the jinnah statement is concerned, I still wonder what is wrong in what Advani said. He claimed jinnah to be secular which is a 100% true fact. Whether jinnah was the cause of partition or whether nehru/gandhi was the same is not the point here. How good or bad a human being jinnah was is also not in contention here. The simple question is: WAS JINNAH SECULAR? The simple answer is: YES. Remember that he made pakistan a secular state although he used islam's name to create the state.

Kaushik Das worry about the sorry state of Bihar and how to fix it before worrying about the world problems. This is the core issue with Bihar and Biharis, they don't care what happens in their villages and localities and would discuss what happens in rest of India and Somalia.

Strategy
by VH on Mar 21, 2008 08:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I feel whole Jinnah episode is a strategy. In certain sense I really appreciate RSS & BJP's plan. Advani purposefully went to pakistan and that too Jinnah Mousoleum and purposefully made a controvarcial statement. Advani, who is always famous for think twice before talk one word, will not shoot his foot like that. It was well thought out strategy.

Because until then Vajapayee was moderate leader and use to get a criticism from hardcore hindutva followers or conservatives. Advani was hawk and use to get criticism from liberals. Because Vajapayee is both old and poor health he has to retire. Obviously next possible and deserved leader is Advani because he is senior and well accepted with hardliners. But the problem is liberals. So to appease liberals and get an acceptance from NDA partners Advani made such controvercial remarks. As planned RSS opposed him strongly and made him to resign so that he get some sympathy too from liberals and non-BJP voters. As dust settles they made him PM candidate.

So Advani is taking Vajapayee's sandals. But the question is who is taking Advani's sandals? Who else other than Modi? He proved himself as hawk & leader, successful in arousing people's emotion & winning elections, and development hero.

Earlier the idea was I guess Vajapayee-Advani, Advani-Mahajan, and Mahajan-Modi. But now after sad demise of Mahajan it is Advani-Modi. Also it could be a ploy to silence other jumping leaders to support Modi. Because Advani is already 81.

My country my life
by Rajesh Kumar on Mar 21, 2008 07:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Advani has written a very honest memoir and a foreword by Vajpayee is another shot in the arm for this book. Though I haven't read it I did go through some important sections of the same which were mentioned in India Today. The good thing about this book is that Advani had not failed to mention his differences with Vajpayee on some issues and also the feud within BJP after his much criticised, praising of Jinnah as secular. He also said he never regretted for the remarks made about Jinnah and gave the reason for the same. Everyone would have thought that the book would be simply Congress bashing right till the end but it wasn't. Advani has praised Narasimha Rao and Manmohan for bringing lot of economic reforms in the country during the former's tenure as prime minister but at the same time he also described Manmohan as the weakest Prime minister ever and he also wondered whether Sonia Gandhi's residence was the offical residence of the prime miniser. He also sympathised with Sonia Gandhi for the pains she had undergone as a woman, but at the same time questioned her for applying for Indian citizenship only when Rajiv Gandhi was about to enter Indian politics. What was she doing all along for 14 years after her marriage. Overall it was an open book in which he had covered almost every aspect of Indian politics he has experineced all these years. With elections not too far way this book will have a serious effect on the Indian voters and
might pave the way for BJP rule.

LK Advani---Efficient politician.
by chandrashekar dalawai on Mar 21, 2008 07:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

NDA govt was better compared to UPA--Age definitely matters for Mr.Advani--but he definitely can perform better than the present PM-Mr.Manmohan singh-irrespective of ratha yata and masjid issues he is still a better politician in indian present political scenario---His effors at Pak regarding mr.Jinha needs maturity to understand and appreciate ,for the welfare of the people of both the countries especially living near border it was a right step--but definitely present set of Congress party won't be much of picture after next loksabha elections NDA or left parties has more responsibilities on their shoulders.

Congress leader Nehru messed with Indian History through "Bharat-Ek Khoj" his book.

We read all good things about Congress Leaders in school which we least the truth.

And now again we all now, that Rediff talks in favour of Congress and ShahRukh Khan.
Do we need any proof? we see it here everyday.

Congress is out to do anything to win this election to fool us another 5 years as they have for 60 years.

Keep getting fooled.
The writer seems to be well in contact with Congress Leaders..need not name them. Right?
