Firsr let me put it rightly, Nehru infact wanted Bombay State to be divided as he was afraid of two stalwarts, YS Chavan & Morarji Desai, both from the state. So was the case with Madras Provience - Rajgopalachari. After Madras Province & Bombay State were divided, UP & Bihar were the only large states to support PM candidate. Nehru ensured that only UP bihari can be a PM. MUMBAI is actually MUMBA AAI, Mumba is the name of a goddess, like we have jagdamba, Amba and AAI is mother, in ANY language. Seven islands possessed by Portugese, who named them as BOMBAY. Britishers harrassed by King Shivaji's frequent invassions on Surat, found it safe and shifted their Surat HQ to new port. Along with them came Parsis from Surat for ship building - Wadias, Bhatias merchants, Kutchhis as the port was midway of Mandvi Kutch & Malabar. First railway link was Bombay-Baroda -Central India BB&CI, Then came GIP Great Indian penninsula Railway, for collecting cotton from Khandes & Gujarat for exporting to UK. Looking to cosmopolitan culture, imporatnance in national economy & not to forgate defence, IT IS HIGH TIME MUMBAI IS DECLARED UNION TEERRITORY LIKE CHANDIGARH. In fact Mumbai is eating away major budget provisions of the state and remaining parts of the state are deprived of. Major share of income in terms for IT & Excise goes to Cetral Govt. If Mumbai's development is left to Central Govt., remaining Maharashtra will prosper like Gujarat. Mumbai is a big liability for Maharashtra.

looks like your entire knowledge of history comes from Ashutosh Gowarikar's absolutely crappy movie Jodha Akbar ! And even he did not have any local actors in the movie.....
The army has a rule to retire incompetent officers as Colonels and Lt Colonels...but anyway.
This guy has got his facts wrong and blames wrong
1) Migration to Mumbai has come down dramatically in last 20 years. 2) 70% of those migrating to the city are now from interior Maharashtra 3) Biharis are an inconvenient scapegoat for incompetency in running the city to ensure it is slum free and and has good transportation system. Laws related to rent control ensure 500 sqft pigeon hole apartments are worth 1 crore Rs. The responsibility of all this lies with elected governments and not Biharis who form a very small part of the city and live in the shadows doing work no one else wants to do.

Thanks Secular India, for pointing out that the whole world (except you) is drastically flawed.
70% of the migrants are from interior Maharashtra? Of course you are sitting at each and every railway platform and counting the migrants as they enter this great city, don't you?
Also, the responsibility of development is ALWAYS with the elected governments (which by the way has been mostly the coveted Congress.. go figure what they have done in these past 50 years for the upliftment of the common man - either from Bihar or from Interior Maharashtra).
But because this responsiblity rests with the government doesn't mean that Biharis form a very small part of the city. Come Amar Singh, Laloo, and Abu Azmi; and you can see this "very small" city congregating and flocking in lakhs; as they do when Mayawati / Kanshiram used to do the constitutional rounds.
Of course you are free to believe what you choose to. This is just my 2 cents.

THUS RICH GET MORE PROFIT, NATIVES BECOME MORE POOR, NORTHIS HAPPY WITH LOW WAGES BEING LOW STANDARD OF THINKING DUE TO HIGH ILLITERACY. THE GAP BETWEEN RICH AND POOR STARTS WIDENING AND SO AS UNREST IN MINDS OF LOCALS.

Well sir - do you know who made Mumbai ? If you knew that - you will not be talking such nonsense. And yes - if you come to NOIDA and Gurgaon - you will find cities a 1000 times better than Mumbai. 70% of migrants in Mumbai come from interior Maharashtra. I like Mumbai because of Hindi film industry and financial services companies out here. And you know very well who runs them !!

You are trying to make a case to get more Biharis and UPiites into Mumbai so as to make Mumbai equal in terms of development to Noida?.. :-)

off course if u will not get a job u will work at low wage thats what all indians does in abroad. infact whole indian IT system is working only on this principle. its problem of india not maharashtra. this problem is true at all levels not only at labour. talk on keeping constitution of india in mind. constitution is not for poor or rich its same for all. y u dont speak anything abt north indians whos r working in it, manufacturing sectors??? please stop targeting weaker section
