Keep that aside but the mentality and language you are showing here definitely proves that you are backward for sure, who can make judgment of small proportion, totally neglecting something called statistical and without any valid reasoning. How can you get readily agreed to his negative views while if I tell you that large number of Bihari and UP girls are in fact more interested in more esteemed and prestitgious institutions like Delhi University, IIT, AIIMS and MBBS??? Do you have any idea that large amoutn of those girl constitute the population in such esteemed university instead of your cornered some unknown REC whom noone knows perhaps??? Or they just dont want tot ake admission in such places where your kinda narrow minded people gripped in false pridehood and regionalism stay??? Ever bothered to get the statistics of BIHUP girls in AIIMS IIT JNU and other reputed isntitutions??? Also I pity over your mental level of sense of humor which you could not ctach from that guy! Just know that the great Guru Gobind SinghJi who established Khalsa, was a born Bihari! So baby dont have false pride just look upon yourself where you do stand..learning in some backward REC college whom actually only worst people from Bihar UP join when they dont qualify for IIT AIIMS DU and JNU! Check it up then talk.

I would like to know about the anti-South Indian riots that happened in Mumbai. I wasn't born then hence would like to know th details. How many were murdered ? And what did the leaders in the South do about it ?
RE:Provincialism
by Tamil natan on Mar 20, 2008 02:45 PM Permalink
I don't know much about this riot either, but I guess you are right, the politicians or the leaders of the southern states must have made some good decisions after the anti-south riot. The South is not that bad anymore, still lot of development is required, but the south is not the backward states of India. It will be interesting to hear from somebody who knows about that recent past in the South.
This is an editorial written by an idiot and it is so biased in its taste that rediff needs to think about its editorial team...Such shrewd people should be refrained frm writing on public platform...I dont see any reason why Rediff keeps publishing such writings when there is absolutely no reason for it...Violence in Maharashtra has long subsided nd no one is giving any provacative remarks...Is it because Rediff loves people abusing each other and creating rift in the country?
I don't know what development in Maharashtra this retired Colonel is talking about. He is talking about Maharashtra as though it is California where everyone is dying to get into. There are some questions which beg the answer. Why is interior maharashtra so hopeless? Why are so many farmers committing suicide in Vidarbha while Sharad Pawar (the agriculture minister) is making merry in IPL? There was a song in that movie Rang De Basanti:
Khalbali hai khalbali...
Vidarbha farmers should sing the same song with the words:
Khudkashi hai khudkashi...
I think ghattees should ask for independence from India and make Nagpur the capital. Their national anthem (as a tribute to suicide committing farmers of Vidarbha) should be:

Very true my friend, this retired col is a nonsence and has no knowledge of History. The maratha rulers are the one took to Britishers appeasment. These guys dont know much but still trying to force their thoughts
we had non marathi maharashtrians chiefminister in vasantrao naik, sudhakarrao naik, antuley.we may see prafull patel or sureshdada jain or gurudas kamat as chief minister northie can also become chief minister.keep barking.

Which now means that Maharashtra do not have a problem with non Maharashtrians coming into power through the electorate.
How about a Mukherjee or a Pande or a Sinha or a Singh.
Why should Biharis not come for Railway jobs in Mumbai? Athale, you are showing your prejudices Maharashtrian colors. read the constitution of India. Any person in India can come to Mumbai and work if he or she wants to.
You say Mumbai gets very little in return? You are wrong. For the first forty years after Independence, most of the development was concentrated in the four metros and especially Mumbai due to the unfair policies of the Central Government. Most businesses were in Mumbai. Mumbai and Delhi were the only two decent international airports at that time. Film industry is in Mumbai. Stock exchange is in Mumbai. IIT is in Mumbai. I can go on listing so many things. It is only after liberalization, that states like AP and Karnataka have achieved some progress in the IT sector. Before that, there was an excessive concentration of development in and around Mumbai. Pune also developed because Pune is relatively close to Mumbai. Further, Mumbai also gets mostly uninterrupted power supply. And for goodness sake, Mumbai has a very good local train system. Because of such unfair concentration of development, Mumbai is too overcrowded and that is the reason why there is so much strain on it. Flies will always prefer jaggery compared to sand.

The Holy Koran is full of very unholy and terrorist ambitions, it is obviously not from God, as the Muslims would have us believe. Any sane individual can see that it is a journal and collection of a terrorist%uFFFDs criminal activities and ideas. This terrorist%uFFFDs name is Mohammed (popularly known as the prophet of Islam). During his lifetime, Mohammed organized at least 86 expeditions against people who either refused to follow his teachings or simply came in the way of his power crazed ambitions. He led the life of a serial killer, terrorist and rapist, who perpetrated genocide throughout Arabia. Along with the pagan Arabs, many Jews and Christians were victims of this mindless terrorist. Mohammed was a man who destroyed peace wherever he went, and in its place brought terror, carnage and death. And he did all this in the name of God! Mohammed has clearly stated in the Koran that God has instructed him and all pious Muslims to loot, pillage, plunder, rape, torture and murder innocent human beings, in order to further the interests of Islam.

This article has nothing to do with Islam. So don't bring religion here. Here a retired ghaatee Col is talking about a civil war between Hindus and Hindus.
Very good article, Dr Anil. The problem in India currently is the BIMARU states. They are the sick states of India, and something need to be done. I am not saying the other states of India are perfect, but most of them are making positive move to progress and develop. But how can BIMARU develop, if most of the politicians that has ruled India since independence, has come from theses states- and has never done or will do any meaningful work to bring progress and development to the people of the BIMARU states. The BIMARU politicians has become extremely wealthy like any other politician from the other states, but the difference from the BIMARU politicians and politicians from other states- is that the BIMARU politicians just think about themselves and their family bank account and not their states (whereas politicians from other states think about themslevs nad their family bank account BUT also the development of their respective states). The BIMARU people is alo responsible for this ill because they always vote for the same politicians even if it bring no benefits to the BIMARU states. Education for the mass is not as widely nutured and respected as some states in the South. (I am not talking about the elite from BIMARU states here). The problem now is that the BIMARU people and their language- is sadly seen as being unwanted in most states.
It is an unfortunate situation that Hindi-speaking people are being treated badly in some parts of India like Maharashtra, Manipur, Assam. Most unfortunate are Biharis, who are treated badly even in Delhi. This trend should stop. The rest of India should not hate Hindi-speakers.
RE:RE:An unfortunate situation
by murli nair on Mar 20, 2008 02:39 PM Permalink
The reason is your arrogance, unhygenic behaviour and people really resent Hindi being imposed on non-hindi speakers especially the huge amount of public money being wasted on 'Hindi promotion' and also the undue advantage hindi speakers have in jobs, business etc. just because it is their politicians inpower at the centre. Beware, this can really break up India which would be disaster for everyone, as functionally, i dont think any part of India can survive on its own.

Dear Murli, It is market driven advantage. 50 crore people speak Hindi. To sell your product you have to employ hindi speaking people. Otherwise nobody is getting any advantage in the name of Hindi. So many Marathi are making Bhojpuri movies (The language of Bhaiyas) just to capture a market of 20-25 crore people in India and abroad. All for money- man otherwise who cares the Bhojpuri language. I wonder even they will not like to listen a word of that Language.

You first learn to control your population and then think about controlling anything else.We don't need the Hindi-speaking people to teach us nationalistic feelings. If you want to teach anything, teach your Laloos/Mulayams/Mayawatis a fitting lesson a fitting lesson and strive towards the betterment of UP/Bihar.With no dearth of natural resources, a progressive and developed UP/BIhar is in the national interest. As for you calling us cheats, it sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.Don't forget that the resentment for UP/Biharis among non-Hindi speaking Indians will rise as time passes as none of the other linguistic states would be willing to take upon themselves, the burden of the influx of innumerable unemployed migrants from these tow states.
