Lessons from Panipat
by Ram Bharadwaj on Mar 20, 2008 05:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A little snippet from History. The col referred to the 3rd battle of panipat between Afghans and Marathas.

In the battle , the Afghans were led by Ahmad Shah Abdali. When planning his attack on India, he was very worried about the might of the combined Armies of Indian Princely states led by the formidable Marathas. He decided to spy on the combined army to asceratin its strength and weakness.

It is said that Abdali himself came down under cover to spy. To his amazement he saw that the army had organized its camps in different clusters and each had their own kitchens. When he enquired he got to know that each cluster represented a different caste and the army strictly followed the caste system even in the face of a war.

Abdali was convinced that the army which looked so formidable from far was actually a divided lot and it would never be able to put a united fight. He went on to smash the Combined Indian Army led by Marathas and won the battle of Panipat.

Our problems are common. The problems of Budelkhand in UP, Vidharbha in Maharasthra, Telengana in South is common. In each of these areas farmers in thousands are commiting suicides. Mumbai/Delhi/Bangalore has developed because of its cosmopoitan populace. Bihar and UP and a large part of India is backward because people are still divided and follow the caste system.Lets not fight. We dont need to look far for inspiration. The Indian cricket team is the best example of Team spirit.

Hindi is not the mother tongue of Biharis. Our mother tongue is Bihari ( Magadhi, Bhojpuri, Maithli). Do we force these language on you? Would you please mind learning these languages in helping me preserve and spread my language? I feel like slave when I see no body taking interest in my language.

TO ALL - WHEN YOU GO TO SOME PLACE FOR YOUR EDUCATION, JOB, SHELTER, IT IS YOUR "MORAL" DUTY TO LEARN LANGUAGE OF THAT PLACE AND RESPECT THAT PLACE WHICH HAS GIVEN YOU SOMETHING, WHICH WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO YOUR OWN PLACE. WE MARATHAS ARE ALSO IN OTHER STATES ALSO BUT WE HAVE ACCEPTED THEIR LANGUAGE, CULTURE. IT IS FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN MORALITY. THE PRESENT CRISES IN MAHARASHTRA IS DUE TO IMORALITY OF OTHER STATE PEOPLE.

How can rediff.com justify calling northern states as Bimaru?
by Tom on Mar 20, 2008 05:57 PM  Permalink

How can rediff.com justify calling northern states as Bimaru. BIMARU term was invented by ahole Ashish Bose for his p.hd thesis! Shame on Indians that they justify such acts. Indians lacks character. They make jokes on themself, laugh on themself. They don't have self respect.
They mock their own country men. And tomorrow they them self will be mocked.

I am not very impressed.

You gave a lot of history and facts but not much of it was related.

From my relatives in the famous fergussen college, Pune, I came to know that is commonplace for teachers to proclaim in class that 'you north indians are spoiling our great culture'. Marathi lobbies have got bad teachers who cannot even pronounce English to teach English. The whole system is in trouble due to bad education.

Strangely, the same 'great' marathi culture does not stop houseowners from colluding with 'uncultured' brokers and throwing residents out every three months and increasing rents. And mind you, these are properties little better than 'cattle sheds' - an expression the writer may identify with.

Yes, the solution lies in economic reforms in the BIMARU states but how can that happen when the 'cultured' marathis are supporting congress, which in turn, supported the misrules of both laloo and mulayam in UP and BR?

Last, WHY DO YOU GUYS BRING BOMBAY INTO YOUR MARATHI THING? Bombay was never marathi. It was a fishing village / port and everyone other than the descendants of those 'original' inhabitants there are OUTSIDERS. These include marathis. Why can't you guys see beyond language and land, etc.? You did not develop Bombay, nor did you develop Marathi. Yet, you claim both marathi and bombay as your own.

I am not too impressed either,Mr Das.Mumbai is because of what it is.A port city on the western coast of the city nearest to the developed European countries.Nobody made Mumbai. Its geographical locational advantage has contributed to making Mumbai what it is today.Mumbai is very much part of Maharsthra-the state of the Marathi manoos, for which 105 martyrs had to give up their lives. When Maharsthra and Mumbai were submerged in mid-2005,where were all those, who claim to have made Mumbai. You pointing fingers at the Marathi tendency to talk about land and language sounds paradoxical as you Bengalis are always at the forefront when your dada Saurav Ganguly is excuded from the Indian team.So improve your attitude first before pointing accusing fingers at others.Let's hope Calcutta is the first city that the central govt decides to bring under Central Rule and we Marathis would love to see how u Bengalis react to that,Mr Das

we are heading for split sooner than the British imagined while leaving our great nation
by Manu on Mar 20, 2008 05:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear all,
For your perusal a comment from another rediff aricle on Karnataka poll.
"by e servee on Mar 20, 2008 05:29 PM
Krishna developed Bangalore as an IT savy city, but ignored the interests of local Karnataka people. IT revolution in Bangalore saw huge influx of outsiders and the local Kannadigas got reduced to minority and feel strangers in their own city. The city stands dominated by Tamils, Northies, Telgus & Muslims:

A vicious war among each seperate culutre has been started and it will end in dividing our great country into several small independent countries if things go in the same direction. Then the proud marathi manus, or Tamil or Bhaiyas will be again slave for another 2000 years to anyother stronger and united culture.

This is the strange thing - these kannadigas did not develop kannada/ They also did not develop karnataka. Not even did they develop any software that would develop karnataka or kannada or bangalore. Yet, once karnataka is in the limelight and earning money, they suddenly claim it their own - esp bangalore. Cheap opportunistic mentality.

This is the same as the oil example in Assam in this article itself. These assamese insurgents want us to believe as if they have given birth to the oil. How come it is 'their' oil, boss? Similarly, how come bangalore is 'their' (kannadiga) land? How come bombay is marathi land? None of the industries that developed bombay into a mega city was developed by or catered to marathis. Same for bangalore. Yet, these people, who have contrbuted nothing to their state and language, are fast to latch onto the idea of 'our own city' and 'outsiders'.

Bangalore / Bombay was made by outsiders only. Most of the kannada/marathi people in these cities are from OUTSIDE villages and towns. Then how come they are suddenl becoming insiders and everyone else is becoming outsiders?

islam sanctions terror
by grir reeg on Mar 20, 2008 05:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Holy Koran is full of very unholy and terrorist ambitions, it is obviously not from God, as the Muslims would have us believe. Any sane individual can see that it is a journal and collection of a terrorist%uFFFDs criminal activities and ideas. This terrorist%uFFFDs name is Mohammed (popularly known as the prophet of Islam). During his lifetime, Mohammed organized at least 86 expeditions against people who either refused to follow his teachings or simply came in the way of his power crazed ambitions. He led the life of a serial killer, terrorist and rapist, who perpetrated genocide throughout Arabia. Along with the pagan Arabs, many Jews and Christians were victims of this mindless terrorist. Mohammed was a man who destroyed peace wherever he went, and in its place brought terror, carnage and death. And he did all this in the name of God! Mohammed has clearly stated in the Koran that God has instructed him and all pious Muslims to loot, pillage, plunder, rape, torture and murder innocent human beings, in order to further the interests of Islam.
