I am not very impressed.

You gave a lot of history and facts but not much of it was related.

From my relatives in the famous fergussen college, Pune, I came to know that is commonplace for teachers to proclaim in class that 'you north indians are spoiling our great culture'. Marathi lobbies have got bad teachers who cannot even pronounce English to teach English. The whole system is in trouble due to bad education.

Strangely, the same 'great' marathi culture does not stop houseowners from colluding with 'uncultured' brokers and throwing residents out every three months and increasing rents. And mind you, these are properties little better than 'cattle sheds' - an expression the writer may identify with.

Yes, the solution lies in economic reforms in the BIMARU states but how can that happen when the 'cultured' marathis are supporting congress, which in turn, supported the misrules of both laloo and mulayam in UP and BR?

Last, WHY DO YOU GUYS BRING BOMBAY INTO YOUR MARATHI THING? Bombay was never marathi. It was a fishing village / port and everyone other than the descendants of those 'original' inhabitants there are OUTSIDERS. These include marathis. Why can't you guys see beyond language and land, etc.? You did not develop Bombay, nor did you develop Marathi. Yet, you claim both marathi and bombay as your own.
