Goa Cover up
by Lalola on Mar 12, 2008 07:50 PM  Permalink

There is a lot of discussion on the moral values, men vs women, Indian vs foreign, police corruption cover up etc. Fact is Goa as a beach tourism destination has acquired all the ills such places get like drug abuse, sex rackets, paedophiles. This is a boon for the local goons, the police and their corrupt politician bosses. The Russian and other European Drug Mafias have moved in and made a klling and are now busy buying up properties. They pay their protectors the police and local MLAs well.Such incidents will not make a dent. More will happen. The politicians will help each other out of any mess. How else can the home minister say there is no drug business in Goa. Then why are foreign tourists coming. Cheap and easy drugs attract them. Beaches and scenic beuties are there elsewhere also. But other beach tourism spots have cracked down on Drug abuse. Only places where policing is lax that are attractive for such people. Innocent tourists also do get caught in his mess. The locals of course think they can ape the foreigners and get into the mess as the Mafias use them for their petty work. The top Police Officers have no say. They are all from Delhi who are on deputation till their next promotion takes them back to Delhi. They quietly obey the politicians and bide their time unless someone wants an early transfer back to delhi. Then he can start asking difficult questions and he will be back in Delhi. It is a tough situation for Goa and tourists - careless ones will be victim

the problem here is the unprofessional attitude of the indian police establishment.

you do not hold the authority to decide how should tourists enjoy their stay.

thanks

Mrigank is just an a-hole with a freudian fixation on mothers. Maybe his mom spanked him a lot in childhood. He is being callous in disreputing british mom who is here to get justice. What a shame!

Is that mean tha t the girl deserved death ? Do you know what British media is doing here in UK ? Atleast it is not a good advertise for Indian Tourism. Don't try to cover up the corrupt indian police system. Indian Police are worst than Taliban.

Mrigank,
First get your English spelling rigth before writing stupid things. The job of police is to investigate crimes & produce them before a judge, not to accompany every tourist. This duty is in no way diminished even if the person murdered is a drug addict.
Nothing has been proved so far in a court of law.
Your idiotic post shows utter contempt for human life & moral posturing that is nothing but hypocrisy. Today, teenagers in India are also heavily into drugs & pre-marital sex. Does it mean that the police have no duty to investigate such murder cases?
Please see how degraded is a section of teenagers in India before abusing Westerners.
So stop this 'pontification' about 'morality'.
Also, our govt is trying to lure foreign tourists since it is a untapped source of income & employment. Will any Westerner come to India after such behaviour by the police & state govt?

Mission Impossible
by a k on Mar 12, 2008 07:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The term Police and Polotician are two tragic jokes of our country. The Police irrespective of which state they belong to are just a bunch of illitrate drunkards who thrive on the power given to them by the netas , they misuse and victimise anyone they want to.Police should change their punch line to For the netas, By the natas, With the netas. The police should be stripped of their powers to a reasonable extent. Hope they burn in hell.
