Goa Cover up
by Lalola on Mar 12, 2008 07:50 PM

There is a lot of discussion on the moral values, men vs women, Indian vs foreign, police corruption cover up etc. Fact is Goa as a beach tourism destination has acquired all the ills such places get like drug abuse, sex rackets, paedophiles. This is a boon for the local goons, the police and their corrupt politician bosses. The Russian and other European Drug Mafias have moved in and made a klling and are now busy buying up properties. They pay their protectors the police and local MLAs well.Such incidents will not make a dent. More will happen. The politicians will help each other out of any mess. How else can the home minister say there is no drug business in Goa. Then why are foreign tourists coming. Cheap and easy drugs attract them. Beaches and scenic beuties are there elsewhere also. But other beach tourism spots have cracked down on Drug abuse. Only places where policing is lax that are attractive for such people. Innocent tourists also do get caught in his mess. The locals of course think they can ape the foreigners and get into the mess as the Mafias use them for their petty work. The top Police Officers have no say. They are all from Delhi who are on deputation till their next promotion takes them back to Delhi. They quietly obey the politicians and bide their time unless someone wants an early transfer back to delhi. Then he can start asking difficult questions and he will be back in Delhi. It is a tough situation for Goa and tourists - careless ones will be victim
