My worry is only item No.1 - Modi will reduce corruption in India by 42 percent. They may do whatever they like on Item No.2 to Item No.16.
Yes, why only 42 percent reduction in corruption, WHY NOT 100 PERCENT?.
My heart goes out to Scarlette Keeling's family for their loss. I feel ashamed that I am from India which boasts a booming economy but fails to provide proper protection to both the visitors and it's own people (Indians). I blame politicians followed by Police (lickers) and than news media (for sensationalizing the news and this includes rediff).

why do you need to be ashamed that you are from India if some1 did something to some1 ? in that case every1 in the world will have to feel ashamed of himself, all these kind of crime happen everywhere. that does'nt mean that we should'nt feel bad... but never ashamed for something nobody is responsible. why do you blame police? we cannot police each and everybody...........
First my heart goes out to scarlette and her family. A young life was snuffed out unnecaasirliy because people have no fear for law or order. The conviction percentage for all the FIRs filed by police for rape and murder in India is 6%. This is just way too low compared to Japan-95%, US, Canada-85%, almost every other industrialised nation above 60%. The survival of a peaceful society depends on the fear of repercussions for unlawful behaviour. In India there is no fear for consequences for unlawful or wrongful behaviour because the judicial system is a joke. We are talking about scarlette because the media got in. There are lakhs of people who have been wronged against and are silently crying inside against the system. India just does not work for people because the system breeds cowards and the cowards feed the system. This will be the same situation after another 10000 years.
My Nephew went to Goa with his friends and they were enjoying at the beach, suddenly 4 local people came and asked for money. One of my Nephew's friends started protesting and they stabbed my Nephew 10 times. Luckly some vendors saw that and took him to the hospital and they did timely operation, my Nephew survived. Local police adviced my sister just to take her son home and keep quiet otherwise they have roam around courts. This is the fate of Goa.

This is sad and is not only the fate of Goa but of India.
India is a free county but eventually that's not the fact and neither does every one get's the justice. You open news channel and news are about rape, teacher beating small childrens brutally, guys burning a 6 year old child just because his bycycle was hit by a Qualis?
I hope things starts going fine for everyone. Culprits open your damm eyes after all you also have families...........
Why was the CM so prompt in not wanting a CBI enquiry. What is there for him to loose. Clearly shows these politicians are hand in glove with the local culprits.

go CM has no time for all these. He is busy saving his post under the "able guidence" of our PM and SPM(super PM-Smt.Sonia)
All countries has problems, the problems in developing third world countries are very grave and basic human rights are violated. Rampant corruption is like Cancer which is slowly killing India. I am a Goan and I know Goa police is like any other state police - corrupt, lazy and horribly hopeless. Criminals and politicians have made a mockery of democracy in India and it is high time for a revolution like the French revolution. We need to invent our own guillotine and to correct this system
It feels really bad to even look at this innocent face and think about the trauma and pain she must have gone through before her murder. May her soul rest in peace.
India took a high moral ground and decided to lecture Britain on racism when the Shilpa Shetty controvery erupted as a result of a television show. Now Britain gets to see India in action. Indians are the biggest hypocrites in the world and India is one of the worst nation in the world full of castism, chaos, curruption, non-compassion, pain, injustice and misery. I thank the God everyday for giving me a chance to get out of that place where justice, fairness and ethics are raped and murdered every single day.

Your hypercritism suggests that you have great hate for India. Nobody will take you seriously as a result. Tone it down and it wont be seen as hysteria.

Really? You seem to be another insensitive person. Grave injustice doesn't seem to bother you at all, unless it happens to you personally or your family. How typical? How will be the rot fixed if people are not even outraged by injustice and criminal raj?

all this is true at this point of time.
Remember only in India jews, parsi were protected . all these exist in all parts of world and in india it is less, thats it. when you talk abt rape Indians make it an issue because they feel virginity as most sacred...
India is still better than any other place ...but we are tending toward that.
People responsible for everything, make people aware thier responsibilty the entire nation changes. people often talk about their "rights", but what about their "duties" ?

For criminals and anti-socials there is heavan on earth, it's call India. Criminals and anti-socials are the only ones whom the Indian 'system' benefits. The satan has rewarded them well by giving them the Indian society.

My friend..not only india ..the entire world is a big hypocrite.you name the country and it will turn out to be a hypocrite.as i am writing iam also a hypocrite and so are you.only the degree of hypocrisy differs.we all are hypocrites at some time or the other in life.the system in india needs a change, laws need change.there should be strong deterrents for crime and punishment should be severe.capital punishment should be expedited.and it is the people..people like you and me who should confront the govt to change the system.the problem with us is that we don't learn from our mistakes and we don't want to change for better.indians are definitely good and competent in so many fields but there are these drawbacks which always haunt them.we go and vote the same corrupt politicians every time inspite of knowing everything. I can understand ur frustation .I too feel the same.but the mentality has to be changed and it does not happen overnight.

That is one of the few well tempered and practical responses I've seen on the Rediff message board since a while.
