Useless country
by indiman on Mar 13, 2008 06:57 AM

First my heart goes out to scarlette and her family. A young life was snuffed out unnecaasirliy because people have no fear for law or order. The conviction percentage for all the FIRs filed by police for rape and murder in India is 6%. This is just way too low compared to Japan-95%, US, Canada-85%, almost every other industrialised nation above 60%. The survival of a peaceful society depends on the fear of repercussions for unlawful behaviour. In India there is no fear for consequences for unlawful or wrongful behaviour because the judicial system is a joke. We are talking about scarlette because the media got in. There are lakhs of people who have been wronged against and are silently crying inside against the system. India just does not work for people because the system breeds cowards and the cowards feed the system. This will be the same situation after another 10000 years.
