Russian mafia in India..??? Is this India or Russia..??
by Ritu Singh on Mar 10, 2008 03:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

For God's sake... Is the Indian government blind to purchases made by foreigners ??

I am sure the fact that Russians are purchasing land in Goa is not without the collusion of the local authorities.... As they say.."Money talks then bullshit walks"..

Goa's plight is purely because of its own doing... Foreigners abound in plenty in many countries like US, UK, UAE etc... And all of them are hot spots for tourism... But never has there been an incident where the local drug mafia lord is a foreigner....

The point here is...
Are we so pathetically blind to what is happening, that even a foreigner can easily form a mafia cartel in our own country..??? If yes, then God help the citizens of India...

Its very simple - An Indian company is incorporated with a Board of directors which would include foreigners or just investors who control the Company and this company buys the land in India. The net result is that the Company is Indian but it is controlled by foreigners. There is a law in India which prohibits foreigners from holding or buying land.

a bit strange
by Ashok Gupta on Mar 10, 2008 03:21 PM  Permalink

The drug dealers apparently knew the girl and that she had no money - so why deal with her- OK if they did then why rape as she was alledgedly used to sex. All this does not condone the crime.

We want independent police
by Dheeraj Akula on Mar 10, 2008 03:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Our police is heavily dependent on our politicians, ministers and government of the day.

The Home MInister controls the police department and he transfers the police officers according to his whims and fancies.

The government has several times been accused of transferring of honest police officers (at least in Andhra Pradesh, especially in Hyderabad, leading to the terrorist attcks in Hyderabad recently).

This must change.

Police department must come out of political influence and governmental influence.

The government must not "CONTROL" the police department, it must only lay out regulations and ensure that the dpeartment is following them. Day-to-day adminsitration of police department must be left to the police officers.

We want INDEPENDENT POLICE!

Government and ministers are capable of only one thing - messing up everything they touch.

Till we get reliable police, people will have to do the work of the police. Like in Bihar.

Punish all the culprits.

Just a thought. What would have been the reaction of the spineless media if the incident had taken place in Gujrat?

No, it is unlikely to happen in Gujarat precisely because of Narendrabhai. Kiran is probably asking about Gujrat, the town in Pakistan occupied Punjab.

Cops mafia
by Dheeraj Akula on Mar 10, 2008 03:09 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Our police system is polluted.

Police does not consider its duty to help the people.

They are there onoly to help the politicians, goondas and anti-social elements.

Something is severely wrong with the mindset of the police.

Just 2 substantiate the quantum of truth in your statement, here is a LIVE example:
Most readers may recall that there was this program in BBC World (Fridays 10PM IST) by title, "Question Time India" (hosted by Dr.Prannoy Roy). In 1 of the programs, 1 of the dignitaries on the dias was Dr.Kiran Bedi. During the course of the program, there was a lady who raised the issue of corruption, which is deep-rooted within the fabric of cops-by citing her case:
She hd applied for a passport (at least 4 times) and each time-she applied, she did not get her passport. The reason: The cop, who came 2 her home 2 carry out his investigation demanded bribe (about INR 2000) 2 write a favorable report abt her. This was asked 2 her-during all times of routine police enquiry (i.e., whenever she re-applies for passport, the cop used 2 demand bribe).
The lady posed a question to Dr.Bedi - why are these cops demanding bribe to do their duty? In reply, Dr.Bedi gave an assurance to personally look into the matter and sort it out a.e.a.p.
Having assured her, Dr.Bedi reciprocated 2 the lady, "Did u ever bother 2 complain this matter 2 the next-higher-up (superior) of the investigating cop?" Just before the lady could give the reply, Prannoy intervened, stating "Kiran, hd the lady approached the investigating officer's superior, then he would hv demanded INR 4000 or so." The whole audience, including Kiran, burst into laughter. These things can never b solved in our motherland!!! JAI

teen murder in GOA
by RAJASEKHAR on Mar 10, 2008 03:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Looking at her photo, I wonder if she is really only 15yrs age? And somebody really spoilled her at a tender age by exposing her to drugs. Her mother is equally responsible for the murder.

You are right on what you say about her mother. Govt of India should inform her that she has to bear all the expenses for this investigation involving her drug addict daughter and some drug selling criminals. Indians are paying tax through their nose , not for finding out what went wrong between this drug addict girl and some criminals

Obvious
by Anup on Mar 10, 2008 03:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I think the reason is quite obvious. Such a reputation would tarnish Goa's image as the traveller's paradise and for a state so heavily dependent on tourism this would definitely impact the industry and also bring out other nefarious activities like drug trades going on in certain areas to which cops are turning a blind eye.
