Sam's demise
by Kumarendra Mallick on Jul 01, 2008 07:42 AM  Permalink

The defence minister now defends himself shamefully. As a matter of fact anything can be defended, including the 1975-76 Emergency. But certainly there was lack of sincerity on the part of the Government to accord honour to the departed soul. It looks as if the govt has been merciful for a state funeral accorded to Sam. Well, it is evident that something was missing somewhere. I don't know where! Our love and respects to our departed Field Marshal.

Any doubts about cong government in this kind of situations!. it has cremated with GREAT respects their own once party president and Priminister PV in hyd, leaving behing charred body which was noticed by morning walkers who could not pay their respects and were there to pay their respects.
It will be react spontaneously to gandhi family only. they have to get orders from italian family how 2 proceed! hahahahah

Disrespect to Field Marshal
by Count Meout on Jul 01, 2008 07:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Respect, specially last respect to a Brave Soldier , must be spontaneous, and not something that requires elaborate consultation. The President, PM and Chief of Armed forces must have been present.
It is a 'National' shame for which there is no recourse.

Sam -a tribute
by Vanitha Balasubramanian on Jul 01, 2008 07:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I by mistake missed to mention in Hindusthan TimesI read that there is a lesson on Sam's contribution to their freedom struggle in BANGLA DESH.I have written the correction so that nobody thinks it is in Indian curriculum.Though our neighbour state is not too friendly with us,yet they have remembered Sam and kept a condolence book much earlier than our Government thought it worthwhile.

Hey, that is a very interesting info. I didn't know about it.

We don't have a chapter on Sam in our school books but BD does, whereas Sam was our hero. But you will find chapters on lot many a&&holes like laloo and many other scumbags in our school books. That speaks volumes about us.

Congress ki galti nahin hain. Unka desh to Italy ho gaya hai. Commies ka desh to pehle sey hi china hai.
India pata nahin kiska desh hain.

If a Maulvi dies PM have time to go and pay respect, Sonia will run and bow her head but if a War hero die they all will sit and home and count votes. Where was Rahul Baba ( so called future of India who pretent to be a great idealist).

It is shame that neither PM, SPM or even deence minister attented the funeral.

What more proofes are needed to prove that this govt have scant respect for those who love this nation and who sacrified every thing for India

Manekshaw- a tribute
by Vanitha Balasubramanian on Jul 01, 2008 05:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Sam lives in our hearts andit hardly matters whether a bunch of so-called leaders attended his funeral or not.Even if they had come, they would be afraid of death and be guarded by so many security men that the commomer would have been kept at bay.The very fact that in every newspaper,so much is written abt Sam that the politicians are running for cover and coming with erratic statements everyday.Even in Bangla Desh, they have called him "THE pride of Bangla Desh. But in India ,the politicians are not aware of the importance of Sam because the only identity they know is the Gandhi family[not Mahatma, but Nehru}.So they have time only for "yes,Madam,Ok madam. We should educate our children about Manekshaw andmake them proud of those who have brought honours to our country.Incidentally,I came across a news in Hindusthan Times that they have a lesson covering Sam's role in their freedom stuggle. So ,we need not be peeved over Govt's indifference and be proud that the whole nation as one is paying the tribute to sam
