Saultations to you
by Akhlaque Khan on Jul 01, 2008 02:43 PM  Permalink

He is the FM. And practically and virtuall FM is higher than President or PM. He has the Army and army is more powerful than civil. Hope the civil learns to respect the army. Army does not require any respect from civil, it is civil that needs the army.

Presence or absence of any civil does not mean anything for FM is above all of them. The Rank itself is greater than any other rank and is incomparable.

My Salutations to you FM.

Avoid display of your Ignorance, wake up please !!
by shrinivas rao on Jul 01, 2008 01:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

To call Mumbai, again as Bombay displays great ignorance about the history of the city and esp. about a legal fact that took place years ago when the name of the city, like Chennai, Ceylon,Calcutta etc etc has been restored back to its original name, Mumbai. Please dont take pride in displaying your ignorance like one Pearl Padamsee.

Ambani a 'charlatan'?
by Manish Mittal on Jul 01, 2008 12:48 PM  Permalink

The message from the article is clear; but insinuating that Dhirubhai Ambani was a charlatan is taking things too far. Is it an attempt to get attention to the article?

Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw
by dhayanandhan reddy on Jul 01, 2008 11:37 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

On one side it is difficult to digest his dparture from this world.

On the other side, the news that NEITHER the President of India, who is the supreme commander of the forces, NOR the GREAT PRIME MINISTER,NOR the Defence Ministern NOR the 3 Service Chiefs TURNED UP. THE ABOVE FUNCNTIONARIES DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE BASIC COURTESY as the LOCAL COMMON MAN HAS SHOWN THE RESPECT TO the Field Marshal SAM. The notes of Mr. KrishnaPrasad echoes the feelings of thousands of admirers of Mr. Sam.
By any standard the common man who has shown Last Respect is much above the above mentioned functionaries who have NO RESPECT for THE GREAT HERO. During 1962-63, when I was studying B.E.,-in the 3rd College of Engineering Guindy FIELD MARSHAL CARIAPPA came to our college (just after the news broke about Chinese aggression)and Students Union requested Principal to organise an address in the auditorium for the entire college. Mr. Cariappas adrdress for 20 minutes kept every body spell bound and his advise still sounds in my ears. During his talk he mentioned about the differences which crept in with the then Prime Minister and felt TOTALLY IGNORED. If such is the treatment by politicians (Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru may be a great leader but a politician)
for a commander like Mr. Cariappa what we can expect from the politicians for a brave and true soldiers. I personally feel this NEGLIGENCE on
the Part of functionaries to be raked up in a big way.
LET GOD SAVE THE COUNTRY from DIRTY Politic

The present President was nothing but a state unit president of the Congress party, she has not yet grown out and can't behave like an independent president of a noble country. She must be looking for approval of Sonia for each of her moves. Its the old pigmy Indian story. let us forget it and await a period when more self-respecting persons are at the helm of the affair of this country.

Great Soldier
by Rethish Kumar on Jul 01, 2008 07:50 AM  Permalink

The soldier I had always known, the soldier loved by everyone, the soldier who taught a lot for others, a soldier who is in the history. We lost a great soldier.

While I was reading the above news, it took me nearly 10 mins and three rounds of reading to figure out who pratibha patel and hamad ansari was. Its better to write in brackets (President and Vice President of INDIA) so that we can know these people exists in India. Shame on those bloody politicians...

Indian news (esp TN news)
by Your BALAJI on Jul 01, 2008 03:59 AM  Permalink

I am ashamed that I didn't know Sam Bahadur had been living in TN for the past 35 or 40 years.

In India (let me talk about magazines in TN) the news never talks about this great man.

But because of this stupid news service, I even know the names of dogs owned by all Tamil cine stars.

I am sorry, Sam Bahadur.
Citing TN magazines (or Indian magazines) can only be a lame excuse.
My sincere apologies for not knowing that you were living next to me (in the same state) for so long and I didn't know that.

Bhagwan, mujhe maaph karo!

Shame on the Service Chiefs
by Ramesh on Jun 30, 2008 09:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont mind if the politicians gave the funeral a miss. After all they are politicians. But what about service chiefs ? Three decades plus of service in the armed forces, leaders , etc, etc.
See their sense of values. If politicians says eat shit, they will do it.

Passing away of a Legend
by Count Meout on Jun 30, 2008 08:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The reason why the people mentioned in the article did not attend the Funeral of a Legend was simple. They did not know who Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was! Just as they all mistook Wellington to be in New Zealand; many Up there must have thought Sam Manekshaw was Field Marshal of New Zealand Army. God Help India, if we were to go for another war - with the kind of 'Leaders' we have today. 'Our' Netas Live and Die for the moment.
