Field Marshall Sam Manekshaw
by dhayanandhan reddy on Jul 01, 2008 11:37 AM

On one side it is difficult to digest his dparture from this world.

On the other side, the news that NEITHER the President of India, who is the supreme commander of the forces, NOR the GREAT PRIME MINISTER,NOR the Defence Ministern NOR the 3 Service Chiefs TURNED UP. THE ABOVE FUNCNTIONARIES DID NOT EVEN HAVE THE BASIC COURTESY as the LOCAL COMMON MAN HAS SHOWN THE RESPECT TO the Field Marshal SAM. The notes of Mr. KrishnaPrasad echoes the feelings of thousands of admirers of Mr. Sam.
By any standard the common man who has shown Last Respect is much above the above mentioned functionaries who have NO RESPECT for THE GREAT HERO. During 1962-63, when I was studying B.E.,-in the 3rd College of Engineering Guindy FIELD MARSHAL CARIAPPA came to our college (just after the news broke about Chinese aggression)and Students Union requested Principal to organise an address in the auditorium for the entire college. Mr. Cariappas adrdress for 20 minutes kept every body spell bound and his advise still sounds in my ears. During his talk he mentioned about the differences which crept in with the then Prime Minister and felt TOTALLY IGNORED. If such is the treatment by politicians (Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru may be a great leader but a politician)
for a commander like Mr. Cariappa what we can expect from the politicians for a brave and true soldiers. I personally feel this NEGLIGENCE on
the Part of functionaries to be raked up in a big way.
LET GOD SAVE THE COUNTRY from DIRTY Politic
