both may be big melting pots of cultures and busy... but that's it.. u can't even dare to compare anything beyond that.. Mumbai could be compared to any gr8 city in the world 30 yrs back.. but now its a shame to its own past...
Yes the pan walla of Mumbai. These vendors and consumers should be locked up for their dirty habit of spitting on pavements. Another method of passing on disease.
Surly Mr Singh at least you could cover your Samosas and Gulabjamuns for hygiene . No one wants to what the flies have tasted. Not out of India nany way. But I am sure they are fit for sale in Mumbai including flies and all.

If you think that whole of India is a big DUSTBIN it is hightime you changed your glasses. You don't have to compare India with US to measure our progress. They too have their shortcomings which no one hilights.

What about your home as compare to the Anil Ambani's home. Imagine India is your home and America is Anil ambani's home. Will you say that your home is DUSTBIN as compare to Anil Ambani's home. Never u will say like this because according to your family income ur home would also be good enough. and Anil ambani's home according to them. So Plz dear never compare our India with developed conuntries.... Insha Allah India will shine....lets our currupt leaders and officers stop corruption...

Have you ever been to NY yourself? Come to think of it, have you been to India at all? What constitutes a 'dustbin' in your opinion?

NOT ONLY MUMBAI, the whole of India is Rude. Go to any city and one will see the rude side of it straight away people of India do not know how to talk, address some one behave. We the Indians are the dirtiest people on earth when it comes to manners. Even a dog when sitting down will clean the place with his tail before settling down. But we create rubbish everywhere. Dirt, open sewerage people passing water where ever they can. There is no shame at all. Yes those living in India are used to all this and do not bother but those who live abroad and visit India can see the whole scenario straight away. The impact is felt instantly and the shock lasts a long time. Now blame the government for all this, It is not the governments doing, government does not throw rubbish in the streets and government does not discharge sewerage in open places behind living accommodation. IT IS THE PUBLIC; THE PUBLIC OF INDIA GOT TO LEARN. Indians want to be westerners but only in fashion a Sex nothing else matters. Cities pavements are full of red spit from eating PAN. Even big places such as London, New York, Paris etc are not spared by this dirty habit of Pan spitting. Paris main streets, London's main streets are paved with granite, and are beautifully maintained by the government, but they can't remove the red color of Pan from them. What a shame it is. They get ruined in no time. Go in any area of these cities where Indians is a majority and you will see the whole thing first hand. Cont:-

It is really aplling to see these Non Reliable Indians talkin shit abt India.. India does not need stupid advices from these unpatriotic and shameless Non Indians who are first to comment but last ones to act upon. These ppl wont mind being slaves in US, but its against their principles to clean the dirt from thier own motherland. They will even sell themselves to go to US and then talk about Dirty Public in India

Sheetal, yur comments on mumbai shows ur ignorance of what mumbai is and ur understanding of what civilisation is... in 2005 mumbai had a its worst flood in 200 years in which nearly 1100 ppl died. just remember tht the local & central govt were lacking even a remote measure of resources USA has. the water level was higher than that in New Orleans which ws affected by hurricane Katrina in the same year in august. but the ppl in mumbai were civilized and strong, they pitched in together and helped each other. they responded in the same way as people in USA did..this is civilization in its true sense...
before yu comment on the cleanliness in mumbai or in india....u hv to understand the socio-economic conditions prevailing in india; there is an immense pressure on the natural resources, infrastructure in india due to its huge population..and naturally they fail sometimes...but still people are learning...india is changing...yes the process is slow, but it has been there..yu cannot expect a 20 wheel driven truck to run with the same speed as a ferrari..similarly u cannot compare india & USA on a common base...its the responsibility of ppl like u who are educated and been to places to bring that awareness in people!U dont do that...its still ok...but then u lose ur right to comment againist them...it shows how uncivilized yu are!

To know Mumbai one needs to live in Mumbai & experience it or for that matter anywhere in India. People like you who live in abroad & comes once in a blue moon to visit India are better off staying abroad in that silver cage of yours.

It's ok, you so-called 'Mumbaikars' (or whatever it is they call you guys) and the other 'patriotic Indians' don't have to bristle in indignation at what sheetal kaur or stav have pointed out. Forget the language..what they say is unfortunately all too true. Mumbai is one of the filthiest 'cities' (that is if you can really call it a city) in a by and large dirty and shabby country. No point fooling ourselves by shouting about Mumbai's 'spirit' or whatever..fact remains, it is quite an unlivable place. It is ridiculous to even COMPARE Mumbai to New York, or for that matter any city in the West..more like comparing a molehill to a mountain...forget New York, look at the cities in China, forget even that..even Delhi and Bangalore look neater than Mumbai. Sadly, Mumbai's administration has made sure it is a city that is dying a slow but sure death. 'To know Mumbai one has to live in Mumbai'. Nicely said. I have lived in Mumbai, for three years. It did give me money, true. But at the end of it I felt I had lost not three, but six years of my life living in that hellhole. The sad thing is that this is true of almost any big city in India..Delhi, Bangalore, Calcutta, Chennai..I have lived in all of them, and they are all uninhabitable. Maybe we should think of making our so-called 'cities' livable..New York, London yeh sab door ki bat hai...(sigh)..
