N deal
by Anil Bharali on Jun 24, 2008 09:22 AM  Permalink

Official of US department has commented that next US govt will make their own decision on it.It is a good point there is now or no theory was a pressure tactic. We expect Obama( I wish it happens) will not present this bill in present form.Govt should be hurry to sign the deal right now.Better to wait for the next US presedent who is calling for "change".

Unwarranted pressure from the US
by SS Kumar on Jun 24, 2008 08:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The pressure tactics of the US Government are too obvious to pass the credibility test. If it is getting too delayed, we can postpone the nuclear deal till we have fully debated the pros and cons and deal with the next US President whosoever is in place. The same pressure tactics they tried with the new Pak Govt and they were suitably rebuffed.

US cannot force their calendar on India. Let them bury their calendar in the debris of WTC.

They should just shut their mouth? The problem is that we have US-phobia. We are ready to believe China that wants encircle us but will suspect that has anything to do with USA even if that is good for us.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

SIMPLE SOLUTION TO N-DEAL...100 by 100 FORMULA

The USA NSG is worried that India will divert fuel for weapons. The solution is very simple.

USA and Russia have 1000s of nuclear war heads that can destroy the world 100x over. AND iNDIA HAS AND WILL DO WHAT IT NEEDS TO DO to protect itself.

So its simple USA and Russia give 100 powerful nuclear missiles to India FREE and CLEAR. It was done for is real. They (USA,Russia) won't even miss them. They sit in the silos anyways. THE SUM TOTAL IN THE WORLD REMAINS THE SAME.

This gives India its security and the USA NSG and other countries the business of civil nuclear power plants. The NPT etc become irrelevant. The clean air problem is addressed as well. I WORDED ON THE DESIGN AND COMMISSING OF A PLANT IN MICHIGAN. The contracts can even be given on turn key basis to USA/France/Russian countries to build and operate them at 90% plus efficiency, instead of 50% as they currently do in India. Once Indians can run them competitively they take over full control.

Everybody wins. This may sound radical and off the cuff--but sometimes you have to think outside the BOX. Tough situations require tough decisions. Japan/France build three nuclear power plants concurrently in 5 years, 3000 plus megawatts total. India will take 15-20 years.

THINK SERIOUSLY, Is India going to use them nuclear weapons against USA/Russia/France/Japan OR any other country near or far on first strike basis. ?????

Why reinvent the wheel ext

A really since US should first disarm itself, junk all its nuclear weapons and then call for world peace. It is not that I have everything I want but you all maintain restraint. We are sovereign. If we don't have fuel, we should think of making our own instead of depending on these guys.

Every passing day makes it tough: US on N-deal--yes it is because Indians are waking up
by Sameer on Jun 24, 2008 04:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As the fine prints of the deal slowly come out in the open, it will be known this deal is the worst sell out of any country in the history for a few mega watts of nuclear energy.

If this deal goes through, it will be death knell of independent India.

Suspicion on Nuclear Deal
by Anand on Jun 24, 2008 04:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As more and more information is out it gives a suspicion that there are so many grey areas in the deal.
1.If at all govt is sure that it is not sacrificing the interest of our country why the MP's were not briefed?
2.Scientific community was not taken into confidence?
3When the inflation is resulting in enormous price rise, PM so called economist instead of solving inflation giving more thrust to nuclear deal?
4 Why opposition not taken into confidence?
BJP is NOT HAPPY, lEFT IS NOT HAPPY, NOW SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY IS NOT HAPPY!
Very sorry state of affairs.

This no longer looks attractive, as more info flows in!
by Vijay B on Jun 24, 2008 04:07 AM  Permalink

Something is badly amiss - when we look at the costs involved (3 times the cost of normal electricity generation), the secrecy in which the Congi govt is carrying out this task, like some shady job, its refusal to clearly state the effects/ repercussions of the deal, its inability to clearly and unambiguously state that India's nuclear freedom will not be curbed, we can clearly feel that all is not well here.

The worst part is the govt's refusal for a discussion of any sort!

Nuclear Deal
by raja sunder on Jun 24, 2008 04:06 AM  Permalink

While I am not a supporter of Anti-nuclear commies, if it is not for US interest and financial and controlling power, US will never agrees to a deal. So watch what you are getting into thoroughly. No need to rush by Sonia maino and Manmohan. We do better if we watch things before we sign. We can't cry over things once we signed. If US can't wait, they can find their way. They can sell it to chinese and Pakistan as they already do it any way.
