It is not a bad decision after all - to quit.
by farewriter on Jun 21, 2008 06:10 AM  Permalink

Id indeed MMS is thinking of such a move, it is laudable and goes to show that he still has the guts live by his principles. If Congress party does not have a unilateral thinking in their approach to N-Deal, it is not worth debating about it and cause unrest in the political circles. If at all they had genuine interest in this, they should have gone for expert opinions in the country and if the outcome favored going to N-Deal, they should live and die by it. The it would have gone to show, they are not a party plainly to be in power but only to serve the nation.

N Deal and Left Front
by Master Splinter on Jun 21, 2008 04:32 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Having seen all the situation, it is clear that Left Front has been ruling in West Bengal for more than 30 years and diminishing the the standard life and economy of West Bengal without development (apart from Underground Metro Rail). If The Government takes LF's decision about N-deal in account, probable similar scenario would be happening for whole India. The orthodox communists who do not follow any communisms for their own party, do have a clue modern economy, technology, how can they bring development for whole India?

Thank you for more information about metro rail. In this case, there is no significant contribution from Communist party in terms of development in West Bengal.

However, their strategy in terms of development for people has been catastrophic. For instance, think, when commucnists government came in power in West Bengal, hundreds of jute industries were on boom and revenue from jute industry was very lucrative. Over the year this CPIM government has been so ruinous, hardly, anyone find any jute industry in West Bengal. This proves how bad their strategy is in terms of ecomical development.

Another point, Communist party do not know how to utilise the resources which are available. Instead, they are expert to misuse those resources. That's why West Bengal Government has got one of the highest debts from World Bank.

So I would say, considering any decision from such a party is a threat for whole nation.

metro is not the communists' achievement. Work on it started in 1972, and plans started in 1949 itself. Communists came in 1977. By then, they could not have stopped the project.

BJP is GOOD for Indain Pride and Self Esteem....
by ashok kumar on Jun 21, 2008 04:12 AM  Permalink

A new department for Homeland Security should be created, it should be lead by some as Narendra Modi or with similar values.

I am sure after the last unexpected defeat, BJP will clean up its act and deliver for the common Indian citizen.

BJP's image has been tarnished by Congress as extremist Hindutva party. Nothing wrong with having pride of being a Hindu in Hindustan. Hindus must scream on top of their lungs of their rich culture and heritage and History. Every country and religion does it. Poor submissive Hindus have been suppressed for too long. Hindus DO NOT believe in killing non-believers.

BJP has been given a bum rep. I felt very proud of being an Indian and a Hindu when they were in power. They like any other party need to bring in new and young blood. The OLD members should become advisors instead of repeating history of 'tehalka'.

Read the first paragraph of the above story on which you are commenting...
========================================
Congress sources told rediff.com late on Thursday night that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is putting the maximum pressure possible on Congress party president Sonia Gandhi to go ahead with the India-US nuclear deal.
==========================================

A PM who wants someone else to do the deal for him, is a PM who will ASK before resigning... that's why only the threats, not the actual resignation...

Hmm...so rediff is the credible news source you want to quote to make your point?

Well....PM is not a stand alone dictator. In a political democracy, for any country, any PM, any number of seats....has to consider/adhere and subscribe to political equations !! It doesn't indicate weakness....it is the trait of party based democracy. The current PM's predicament comes from a fractured mandate that we have given. It doesnt come from his party.

Dr Manmohan Singh may resign
by Guest on Jun 21, 2008 03:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dr Manmohan Singh is very able and honest and secular gentleman. He must not leave like this. The Congress will lose heavily if he is allowed to go like this. The whole of allies may be dupmed to save only this gem of a person is 100% worth it. If he cannot win his own Congress party, the party is doomed and finished. Such people are not born everyday. If the party do not go with him, he better resign to save his honour. The next day the whole party will lose over 60% educated middle class and that will be the biggest gain of the BJP & RSS who are using and writing in these columns.

Don't Just Cry in Public...

Please, type up your resignation paper, then drive to Kakee's house (sorry, Madame President) and tell her that you are a totally spineless human being and therefore are a tarnish on the office of Prime Minister. Then go back and sit in your library and read your backs. No one will miss you. Trust me.

Landmark, Institution, Hospital, Park, Airport, etc. named after Nehru/Gandhi family.

The only thing that is left is naming a State after them.

Soon we will have Sonia Nagars poping up. Priyanka could not find a suitable Hindu groom, but a convert 'Robert'. What a joke.
