Where is the money going? Good question !
by chanakya maurya on Jun 09, 2008 11:12 AM  Permalink

It is going down the drain wherefrom it is drained into the secret accounts of the politicians and the bureaucrats.

It is a jugalbandhi. A jugalbandhi between the thieves and the prostitutes.

The beneficiaries are the big industrial houses and the realtors.

Money
by aga on Jun 09, 2008 11:01 AM  Permalink

FM/PM are to suck the blood of tax payers. Maximum inflation is due to service tax on all items as well as oil prices hike, in oil also about 40% are taxes at different levels.
Our FM/PM only think to ban foreign visits or air travelling etc., they are afraid of linking pay of Govt. servants with productivity and performance, this will automatically take care of all extra burden. More than 35% revenue collected by Govt. goes only in salaries.Similarly Govt. everywhere is giving subsidy-about 25% budget, 50% of it goes to corrupt politicians/bureacrates.
We need drastic political and administrative/judiciary reforms.Who will bell the cat?

A Plan B
by Lost Indian on Jun 09, 2008 10:57 AM  Permalink

India has another options also.
1) bring dollar to its actual value (I presume it to be less than 37)
2) blend petrol with Nafta or Ethanol.
3) make the public transport system more veneurable especially in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, if public transportation is comfortable for people to travel people might not use their own vehicals.
I still wonder what hapens to the huge petroleum reserves that Reliance and Essar has where is this oil going.

my friend, you are unlucky.
Today's crude oil price is $138
So please advice
1. to minimise petroleum products consumption.
2. to hard work all Indians and especially polititians for maximum agricultural productivity.
3. don't waist any land, do maximum cultivation.
4. promot less import and maximum export.
5. all indians should think about alternative fuel

What hapenned to the huge Foreign Reserves India had.
by Lost Indian on Jun 09, 2008 10:22 AM  Permalink

Just a few month back india was sitting on huge foreign reserves. The government to help the exporters delebirately increased dollar value, when dollar is getting weak internationally india could have provided subsidies for the Exporters rather than making the dollar strong.
During this time the weak dollar would have helped the oil crises.
This government has failed on all front.
They just want to collect taxes, one day they will tax for air and living and our FM will say since the GDP during crisis time has shown a growth of 8% taxing living should be acceptable to the people.

How does Global prise Rise contribute to India
by Lost Indian on Jun 09, 2008 10:18 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am still not aware with Golbalaisation and how does it effect cost in India.
Example Steel:
India produces a lot of Iron ore but imports a lot of Coal and metcoke(one prime raw material for Steel manufacturing) though the indian miner living conditions are not improving as their wages have not improved, how does the prices of SAIL and Tata increases having their own captive mines. India steel on Exworks basis is costliest than the European Steel manufacturers, intrestingly Indian labor is one thenth of the European labor cost.
Same goes for Cement industry.
If the global prices fo food are increasing why do our farmers commit suside for the lack of funds to sustain their own living.
When India's GDP has grown by 9% and goverment kitty has increased by more than 30% in terms of taxes collection still we dont see any much developments.
What hapens to the production of private players like Reliance and Essar, why does not Indiann government buy from them.
With the social fabric like india where we have more of poor people than rich a capatilist economy is dangerous, why the Indian government cannot force indian companies to keep indian input/output cost terms for companies manufacturing in India.
Why do Reliance Energy cost goes-up when the supply from the source has not increased its cost.
Why?
The present government is fooling all of us, the corporate people are also milking us like anything as there is no one to control them.
India will pay a huge price for this

Dear Sriram,
Remember the Govt and corporate world has to work together for the existiance of both. Today we curse mayawati for her dominating politics but the poor people have faith in her because both the goverment and the "Corporate" are milking them.
Climbing the ladder and having our own fill is not the solution, the complete social upliftment is important, at this moment the gap of haves and dont haves are increasing and this is going to be a big problem later on.
Tomorrow with the subsidies from the goverment will make the farmer more capable to sustain and if he ask for a price hike it again going to effect us.
Just because i am happy my childrens are getting better education and later on they can go and work in US is not going to solve the local problem.
We need to make our country the best to enable everyone to live at a better standards. Instead of migrating to other countries we should make a country where every one in world wants to come and stay/work.
Profits are not the only thing.

Regarding remedies both of you should realise India's problem are two 'P's - Population & Politics. To check population India should follow Chiana's policy. But again this requires Politicians hence not possible. Indians are destined to be ruined.

dear lost indian,
my post was exactly the same sentiments as yours , its just so realistic that my sarcasm was possibly lost when reading it.
i meant it in a sarcastic way ,my vehemence at the brutality of cruelty of pure profit motive without social awareness and human compassion.
thanks for telling me so decently unlike so many posts i see(including mine )
cheers

petroleum prices
by veerareddy on Jun 09, 2008 09:54 AM  Permalink

I do not understand "the oil prices" all countries purchase from gulf.say china, pakistan, india, south korea etc.,and do the same processing to sell to the consumer.
here is the catch
Indian consumers were consistenly paying the highest price(in the world) for petrol on any day. Then how the oil companies are making huge losses????
(The total losses were an estimated Rs 245,000 crore.)
is the govt taking all the money in the form of TAXES???????? I would like somebody from an oil company should answer clearly
under information act.
thanks

NREG in Andhra
by Blue Hamsa on Jun 09, 2008 09:51 AM  Permalink

I have seen myself that NREG is reaching landless laborers in Andhra, thanks to, strong directions from the chief minister. There is actually not much work to do but people spend an hour at work place. Later, some of them go to their regular commitments with the farmers to work on farmlands or just take it easy for the day. This leads to shortage of labor and middle-level farmers have to pay more and take a cut in their final profit. This is actually turning them against the govt. Whose voted are more? The landless labor or low, middle-level farmers?

Most Dysfunctional Government Running Just For The Shake Of Rulling
by sam on Jun 09, 2008 09:40 AM  Permalink

What good this government has done, I think you will never found out. Onlything this government may have achived is defragmentation of Hindus society, fragmentation of India in the lines of caste and religion. They has emptied the foreign reserve, they have lead to sky rocketing inflation what else a government can damage. Problem is after all this also SICKULAR hindus will vote for them and again all the political parties will unite to form a government to keep BJP away from government. Leftist will keep barking thorough out the year, enjoy the life in government without taking any responsibility. This is disgusting situation. What will you call a situation where one minority is PM other is running the government and to call your self from the majority religion is crime or being communal.

Where is the money going?? It is an open secret.
by Sathish N on Jun 09, 2008 09:39 AM  Permalink

The bank accounts (including swiss bank) of the politicians and bureaucrats. These common man's master, who are supposed to be out servants, are taking us for a ride. The reason is also simple - We don't care about common good.
