Present and Past
by Gopal on Jun 01, 2008 09:25 PM  Permalink

Historically all of present day AP was divided between tens of regions and hundreds of kingdoms. It took a lot of maturity and cultural advancement to arrive at this stage of unifying most of the telugu region into one. There are still some historical telugu lands where telugus are in majority but are still not part of AP. I hope someday they will be included. Telugu identity is more powerful across AP than subregional identities - which has been abetted by media, cultural exchanges, people exchanges, and uniform laws across AP. That is what this election and future elections will prove. Any political party betting against it will have to face odd results.

Telangana
by Gopal on Jun 01, 2008 09:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The truth is Telangana region is the body of Andhra Pradesh. Uttara andhra, venginadu(delta region), prakasam, nellore and rayalaseema are only attachments for this body. Without Telangana being part of AP, every other region is on it's own with it's own distinct identity and differences. Telugus have a stake in making sure that AP stays united. Telangana people need not disown their ancestry and write the history from Nizam rule(slavery) just for the sake of demeaning Rest of AP settled. It's a canard that Telangana people are very different from coastal people or rayalaseema. Orugallu(warangal) was historically the region where pure Telugu(atchha telugu) was nurtured. Muslim rule tried to undermine that heritage and changed the names of many people in telangana region.

Lesson to TRS leaders

Now KCR can realize how much taxpayers money he wasted before general elections next year. This is truly politics and hunger for power. He did not do anything for telengana. AP should be left like a state not to break in pieces.

I do agree. KCR has done nothing to Telangana except wasting people's money. Also the language he uses is ridiculous. Telangana people really have given him a correct treatment

Do you know that Madurai is the center of TN politics and most of CM's of tn are around from that area. For Karnataka it's old mysore. For AP it's rayalaseema and for maharashtra it's konkan etc. Who rules is not that important.

arrogance of trs leader kcr
by Gummadivally MuraliKrishna on Jun 01, 2008 06:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is quite obvious from the results that people have put brakes to the arrogant attitude of trs leader kcr. he was behaving as if he is the sole person representing the telengana people and also the sentiment. Whether he is there or not telangans is an issue which he misused for his self aggrandisement therough the party and used it perfectly for his growth.
His arrogance has cost him lot of leaders like narendra and 9 MLAs and now he has proved to be the nemesis of the party. It is high time if he sticks to his resignation and gives the mantle to well educated and decent leader from the party. Well done people of telangana. By giving mixed results it is beyond doubt that evry thought of school has been given a palce give a right representation of thoughts. I think that is what is the feeling of the people. TDP and Congress winning good number of seats is a good sign. If congress takes a decision on telangana it would be better for it. Even TDP has to decide on it. Then TRS can not be seen anywhere in telangana. Mr.KCR has done enough damage to the party right from the begining till date. Hope he will only continue the agitation and not fight elections again if he is sincere on telangna. His decision to resign is correct and he should stick to it if he has even a little bit of sense and shame.

Dear,

We can call this election as referendum for separate Telengana. But people totally rejected the leaders who raised the issue. Hence, we can presume that people are against separation and they want united AP.

TRS is not telangana... their loss is merely a vote of no confidence against the party which was expected. Now the real people representing telangana should raise their hands. THe farmers' woes in telangana are much ignored while crores are spent in developing andhra area. The culture of telangana, the food and the mindset of the people are all different from andhra. JAI TELANGANA

Every district in Andhra Pradesh has a separate culture. Srikakulam and East Godadavari is one example. If we keep separating the country and states on such a fine grained basis, we will have more politicians than civilians!

What is required is adequate representatiion for all types of people in the state government. The people also need to choose their leaders wisely. So, a separate Telengana simply does not make sense. As long the people of Telengana do not choose wisely, they will be in the same state of affairs whether they call themselves AP or Telengana.

How will there be equal representation when 95% of the government positions all over AP are hold by Costal andhra people.

Telangana people wake up and fight for our share in water, land and jobs.

Andhra people have settled in every telanga district, i do not see any telangana people anywhere in andhra.

When the people here in u.s feel the pinch in jobs and resources because of immigrants, they will start hating us. As of now the u.s is still the land of opportunity and still has abundant. Thats not the case with telangana outsiders are taking their jobs and resources while telangana people are struggling to meet their ends.
