Why We the prople do not understand
by Devs on Jul 31, 2008 05:40 PM  Permalink

US has cheated us earlier and will cheat us later..so why the INDIAN people are so fools...and what about the Indians in US...they have become so great chamchas of the system that they dont see anything in India's interest.. Look at US....IT IS REWARDING PORKISTAN FOR BOMBING INDIA.....millions in aid..does not give a shit to all the blasts that have occurred.had it occured there..there would have been a hua and cry!
If people say US-INDIA has commercial interests ..it is fine..but US-INDIA do not share strategic interests..

Congress and MMS has betrayed the people of this country. Wake up India. India can no longer perform n-test. Thats a kind of restriction. Why India has to ask US for permission to do anything. I want my India to be self dependant and free.

I am not against N-Deal (frankly I like some of its clauses and have skeptism for few). Unless we know full details, we shuld not comment in details. but surely here I find a contradiction from what politicians were saying abt indias position on Hyde act...If i see first contradiction here, whats wrong if I have doubts whether N-deal can really give hope to those 600 million people....

DO we need nuclear plants ???
by Reporter on Jul 31, 2008 03:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Think.

Dont we hv any other option than nuclear fuel ?

Do consider all factors when u comapare all sort of energy production . Raw material is not the sole consideration. The factors such as maintanance, handling of nuclear waste without any harm to environment , humans and all bio and non bio things in the locality, decommissioning of the facilities etc.

Does anybody thing it is a simple and routine job like in any other chemical plant. All materials exposed to the nuclear material are considered as radiactive waste and treated accordingly.

In case of a war, it is very easy destroy India. Nobody has to drop a nuclear bomb in India, but they just hv to drop a bomb in nuclear plant.

I dont know whether anybody is aware of the fact is that american companies will be involved (they should be, as per the deal) in these projects only if they get a guarantee that these companies will not be responsible for any disasters occuring in these plants & neighbourhoods and they dont have to give any compensation.

Who will be suffering then? Only our people.. if govt. decides do something, then it will be good , otherwise, i dont know.

Why do we welcome such projects even when we had faced disasters like BHOPAL tragedy. Has anybody done anything in favour of those poor people there .

I'm not against the deal, but I am against the nuclear plants in India. We must try other sources of energy. It will be much efficient when we consider all these risks/ fact

Thanks Reporter
You have enumerated the problems connected with nuclear power. It is not exhaustive. More points will come to light as time pass on. These people in the capital has no time see that only Japan and France are encouraging nuclear power. Their Delhi men) intension is getting clearer and clearer as time pass on. The end loss will be for the congress and the country. It is the price they pay for choosing a man from outside congress to lead the country. Now get ready for the final rite for the congress, congress men!!

RE:DO we need nuclear plants ???
by Reporter on Jul 31, 2008 05:18 PM  Permalink
Nuclear waste is DEADLY WASTE, more serious than CO2 and other emissions.

If a disaster occur in a normal power plant, we can do something to make the locality habitable.

But a nuclear disaster can make that area uninhabitable until the radio active nuclear waste is inactive and it can take may be hundreds of years.

Take the exmple of Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. The city is still mostly uninhabited due to radioactivity.

In order to meet the rising demand for energy, invite private companies to build power plants based on conventional fuels and new renewable sources ....

If well designed power plants in the capacity of reliance refinery in jamnagar comes up in south north east and west of India, we can solve the demand, may be in 5 years time . Anybody there to bet ???

If u go for nuclear plants, it is 100000 % sure that private parties will not be involved, investemnt to be made by the govt. Where is the money for it ??? ( They cant even subsidise oil or fertilizers ) So it will be on loan from world bank or IMF ...... how many years for construction and commissioning ??? Safe storage of nuclear waste generated ( high level and low level wastes) and finally disposal of the same safely for hundreds of years

So which option is better ???

If a desalination plant is also set up with power plants, it can meet the water requirements of millions with a little additional cost

And what are the other resources do you think, what other options do we have. I understand the dangers that you mentioned but you also need to know there are may countries who use Nuclear energy so why this fear, secondly is it that easy to bomb a nuclear Installation. Why didnt the scientist point out this points are they naive or may be they are not as good as you.

A party becomes largest when it has the necessary numbers to form a government, and you are talking as if BJP had crossed the mark and they were denied the right to form a government.
BJP failed because of their lies and all the promises they had made to which they never stood true, that was the reason for BJP's downfall.

US can terminate N-deal if India conducts tests: Nicholas Burns
by Hebbar R on Jul 31, 2008 03:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

By the way the Govt did not win the trust due to the importance of the Deal nor due to the commitment of the Congress to it or any other reason. They won only because they could purchase MPs and because the MPs have shown their true colours of being up for sale.

that the congress could buy some MPs is not a sign of corruption in congress alone, it is a sign of corruption in India. BJP tried its own tricks, maya also tried tricks. In such an atmosphere you also have to do tricks to surive. Did not Arjuna kill Karna by deceit and treachery, how come guys like you celebrate that ?

Not sure whether it is anti-bjp, pro-MMS, pro-congress statement. Only thing is when Vajpeyee resigned in 13 days it was dignified and there was no case, talk of corruption. Corruption is normal in India but still I expected some standards from PM who have already maligned this in Narsimha rao time and now again...!! just don't be blind devotee...waise u r true..Congress can do anything to survive !!

I think so would have been done by BJP, i am not saying if at all that happened it was right, but look at BJP what they did in Karnataka oure poilitician have no ethics so it would be fool of people to find it in our politicians. as far as BJP is concerned i think its the worst party in case of corruption, they are so corrupt that then the defence minister did not moved back a little or had a second thought when the coffin scam happened, in this case also instead of putting his heart out for the soldiers who died he was busy in making money over the coffins.

This admission is straight slap on the face of the Congress and particularly the PM. It calls the PM's bluff even to Parliament. They have consistently maintained that the Hyde Act will not apply to India and all the while big names in US have been insisting to the contrary.

Duplicity of the UPA Government
by Siddhartha Singh on Jul 31, 2008 02:58 PM  Permalink

Application of the Hyde Act and the IAEA draft not acknowledging India's Nuclear Weapons status are two primary objections raised by NDA in the parliament. Both have been acknowledged by Nick Burns, the US negotiator of the deal. What does UPA have to say about it?
