RE:There is a difference between entrapment and sting operation.
by Umesh Sharma on Jul 24, 2008 12:50 PM  Permalink
u mean to say if all the parties do this it is commendable??? the problem is the system, of which all of us are a part. the moral fibre anyways denigrated after nehrus death, anybody's guess who governed the country. u name it for e.g the license raj/ pl420 / grain import scams even during nehru time the jayanti shipping case, probably a lot of people were not born. so the prob is not with one party all are the same, we hv to see who is least amongs all. again a matter of opinion.
as far as people are concerned they are always the losers

The CPM
by SP on Jul 24, 2008 12:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The present CPM Central Committee under the leadership of Prkash 'Carrot' consists of illiterate people of Bengal and Kerala, which includes Kerala CM (4th Pass); Kerala Education Minister (BA-Not Pass); Kerala Home Minister (BA-Not Pass), Kerala CPM State Secretary (probably 10th pass) and so on. So there is no surprise that there is no support to Somnath Chatterjee, who is highly qualified.

Uneducated fellows are far better in understanding and less corrupt compared to the highly educated who are greedy and willing to sell their country for peanuts. Example: Manmohan, Chidambaram, Somnath.

CPM is the looser at the end of the day
by Marlene Menezes on Jul 24, 2008 12:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Somnath has stood up for the country's benefit and not for dirty politics of his party men. Finally it will be the likes of CPM / BJP who will be the loosers and not people like Somnath. BJP and CPM force their thinking on their members without giving them the right to exercise their own thoughts. BJP even air lifted people on stretchers against doctors advice just for their own selfish ends. This is the way they work

Chatterjee had no backers in CPM Central Committee
by Arunava Mukerji on Jul 24, 2008 12:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Just as CPi(M) party gave opportunity to Somnath Chatterjee to rise to the speaker's post , it is also charismatic people like Somnath Chatterjee who lent credence and respectability to the party , which was otherwise regarded as the party of anarchists and aethists who believed in the totalitarian rule of the middle ages .Now that respectable people like Somnath Chatterjee are expelled who will follow the dictat of Mr & Mrs Karat who have no personal achievement in any field .

Hey,

Look at the name of the person.

This is purely a Bengali vs Malayali fight.

Please explain Mr. Somanath's achievement other that threatning to resign from Lok Sabha many times. He is like a police IG critisising his own police dept. and failing to do any thing.

As far his mind set is concerned, his secular credentials are a ?

CPM EXPELS SOMNATH
by SOAL on Jul 24, 2008 12:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

THERE WAS NO ALTERNATIVE WHEN PUSHED TO WALL. MR CHATTERJEE WAS FIRST OF ALL CPM MEMBER, THEN MP AND THEN MADE SPEAKER WHEN CPM DECIDED TO SUPPORT CONG TO FORM AND RUN GOVT. WHEN PARTY DECIDED TO WITHDRAW SUPPORT AND NOT ALLOW CONG TO RUN GOVT, CHATTERJEE WHO HAD NOT RESIGNED FROM PARTY MEMBERSHIP AND CONTINUED AS CPM MP SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED PARTY LINE TO JOIN OTHER CPM MP. THAT HE COULD HHAVE DONE ONLY AFTER RESIGNING AS SPEAKER

IT IS SPEAKERS POSITION WHICH IS APOLITICAL WHEN YOU PRESIDE OVER THE HOUSE. BUT HAVING GONE TO HOUSE AS CPM MP AND REMAINED AS A MEMBER OF CPM EVEN AFTER BECOMING SPEAKER IT IS CONVENIENT SHIELD OF CONSTITUTIONAL POSITION.

IN FACT BY EXPRESSING HIS VIEWS THAT CPM IIS DOING WRONG BY VOTING WITH BJP, HE HAS EXPRESSED HIS CLEAR BIAS. HOW CAN HE TAKE A STAND AS CPM MEMBER TO ADVISE HIS PARTY AND STILL SAY HE IS ABOVE PARTY. AND HOW DID HE GET THIS WISDOM OF NOT VOTING WITH BJP WHEN IT WAS THE OTHER WAY ROUND. THIS TIME BJP WAS VOTING TO SUPPORT THE LINE OF CPM WHO WAS MORE AGAINST DEAL WHICH BROUGHT ABOUT VOTING SITUATION. BJP AFTER ALL IS NOT THAT MUCH AGAINST DEAL AS THE CPM IS.

SOMNATHJI HAS NO MORAL GROUND TO PREACH TO CPM NOT TO VOTE AGAINST UPA BECAUSE BJP WAS TOEING CPM LINE. MR CHATTERJEE HIMSELF HAD VOTED WITH ALL CPM MEMBERS WITH BJP TO PULL DOWN NARASIMHA RAO GOVT.

HE SHOULD HAVE REVOLTED AGAINST THE PARTY WHEN CPM DID NOT ALLOW JYOTI DA TO BECOME PM AND THE POLITBUREAU THRUST COMPARATIVELY FAR MEDIOCRE PM

RE:CPM EXPELS SOMNATH
by Shyam on Jul 24, 2008 12:59 PM  Permalink
You are 100% correct. In fact expelling him is no sufficient punishment for the disfame he brought to the party which made him what he is today. Whether it is CPI or CPM or Congress or BJP, party is prime and all members must respect the Party - right or wrong. If he thinks the party is wrong, he should have first come out openly and quit the party on his own instead of making a mockery of the Party machinery. Greed has taken over loyalty and at 80 he has no other way of making crores of rupees in one go! Now it is for the people of Bengal to teach him a suitable life in case he dare to contest elections once again. Through him to dust bins.

Expellation of Somnathda
by Yogesh Joshi on Jul 24, 2008 12:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Karat is a Hitler in CPI (M) Both he and his wife are not balanced personalities. His wife Vrinda Karat tried to throw mud on to Ramdev Baba over medicine issue which got back-fired on them and loosing the credibility. When CPI (M) portrays themself as massiah of Farmers, look what happened to them in their own state, i.e. West Bengal. There was firing on farmers. How can we forget that? Both Nripen Chakraborty and Mr. V. S. Achyutanand were expelled from the party and today they are Chief Ministers. a time will come when the same party will reinstate Somnathda and will make him CM of West Bengal. Thats the party with difference. Why do you critise of playing double standard when you are yourself doing the same????

Hare Joshi.. if you don't know the factual position, simply shut up. Nripen Chakraborty is not the Chief Minister now. Sarkar is the Chief Minister of Tripura. Achutanandan was not expelled from the party. He was suspended from the Politbureau only along with Vijayan as a temporary measure to discipline them. How can you call Karat a Hitler, when decisions taken at the Central Committee or implemented by the Politbureau through the party General Secretary. CPM is not like Sonia Gandhi's party where decisions are taken in her kitchen by her and her coterie and sent through to Manmohan Singh for implementation. I am not a CPIM supporter but I do not support the double standard of the Hon'ble Speaker.

Ridiculous move by CPIM
by Anand SP on Jul 24, 2008 12:36 PM  Permalink

karat has bent upon taking the party to new lows. This is a ridiculous move to expel Somnath from the party. After he is a great palimentarian and worked for decades for CPIM and this is not a fare treatment meted out to him by the party. I think till Karat is at the helm, he will do enough damage not only to the party but also to the nation. Thank god, now cong can breath easy as these damagers are out of their coalition.
