This is called 123 Agreement because this comes under USA's Atomic Power Act Section 123. (1) After this Agreement USA will supply all fuel, machinery / equipment & technology to India for producing Nuclear Power. (2) All these days from about 22 Nuclear Power Plants, India is producing power as well as Atom. It's a high security / secret that from where which is produced, how much is produced, where it is supplied, what research is being done with that, etc. to anybody. But if we sign this Agreement, we have to disclose these secrets and also agree to 14 of our Nuclear Power Plants to be under the scanner of International Atomic Power Organisation. (3) The fuel utilised to produce Atomic Power can be recycled for reuse and this plant will be under direct supervision of IAPO. If India does nuclear test, this agreement gets cancelled. But (1) USA will take back all the machinery / equipments / technology supplied to India thus far. (2) Those 14 plants will continue to be under scanner irrespective of the status of the agreement. On the other hand, if any of the commitments given by USA is breached by them, then there is no clause for cancelling this agreement. The agreement is apparently like this... USA can either hug India or slap India. India will not ask why are we hugged or why are we slapped. On the other hand, India cannot hug or slap USA for breach of agreement. This is only capsule so that easy to read and digest.

This is an example of knickerwallahs disinformation campaign. After all they are the followers of LK Advani.
Knickerwallahs are known for their love of Goebbelian communications techniques. Advani in his speech against the motion accused Nehru wanting to sign the NPT. Pranab Murkherjee literally caught him with his pants down. He retorted that how Nehru who died in 1962 could sign a NPT which came into force only in the 70s?
The discussion must be held with all decorum and we must see all sides of an issue before concluding. We should not be synical but to the point since this a matter of country and its future. It seems that our leaders and scientist have done good home work and we must move on. Agreement and cooperations are in interest of concerned parties and these keep on changing as per circumstances but we should get into international matters to paly an effective role.
Our FM is a gr8 man. He has mastered the Hyde Act. He knows in and out of Hyde Act. He must be right. Only thing that may be wrong is the definition of India. He must be thinking his home in Karaikudi, a town in Tamilnadu, is India.
Both above fact is real. Govt may win the trust vote, but to be extra ordinary measures to be taken for curbing price rise else next election will be nightmare for cong.
"Highlighting the achievements of the UPA government, Chidambaram said rice production rose to a record 96.43 million tonnes in FY 2007-08, wheat at 78.4 mt, coarse cereals at 40.7 mt, pulses at 15.1 mt, oil seeds at 28.82 mt and cotton at 21.81 million bails."" then can anybody tell me why the prices of rice & wheat is so high!! the cheapest quality of rice is rs.18per kg & wheat is rs. 13 per kg.. where the all grains hav gone mr chidambram..

prcies are high for all commodities coz of problems of global nature. crude has touched record highs n that is the primary reason for inflation across products.
You seem to be taking an active interest in world economics....Go and check the economist of 7th june; inflation in most european countries is less than 4%...In cananda it is 3%..In malaysia 3%....They are also not oil producing countries
Who is paying for the subsidy bills....like the 100 thousand crores for NREGA

dude.......growth rates of these countries are significantly lower than China/india. If you want to compromise growth for controlling inflation then its ok. but not sure hw many would want that to happen esp with iip figures dipping severely.
He can't be trusted for anything. He is the biggest enemy of salaried class & has burdened the ecpnomy with all kind of taxes which has lead to runaway inflation. He deserves to be taught a lesson in next election by making him lose his deposit.

Mr pradeep, I don't think you have any knowledge about individual taxation. Mr. Chidambaram has rduced a lot of tax burden for the salaried class. Of course but I do not support him the way he has handeled inflation growth. I know there is a overall price hikes in crude oil but some measures should have been taken to control atleast the food prices in India which amounts to more that 20% of the total inflation.

He has simply increased the slabs which were anyway due for revision due to infationary conditions. He has otherwise burdened the entire gamut of services by way of indiscrimnate service tax regime making every service expensive by 12%.I am quite amused with your & other writers comments on individual taxation matter. It is not simply IT but lot of indirect taxes that affect our outflow & PC is a past master in dodging individuals thanks to his laweyer background
