i love the Lord Vishnu... but instead of identifying the Pandavas and the Kauravas, this mortal, imbecile person with the Lord's Name is not even able to appreciate honest, nationalistic and diligent articles... its all Maya!
I am wondering why in the world did Abdul Kalam favored the deal. Why did he not notice what Rajeev is saying? Perhaps Rajeev is pulling it bit too much? Whom to believe? My gut says APJ Kalam and his blessing to the deal is good for the nation.

Moon - You sound about right. I have seen Kalams view on NDTV regarding this agreement and he had favorable views. Based on views and expertise from someone of Kalam's stature - I have no doubts that the deal is good for the nation.
Myth #11: India needs more nuclear power to assure its energy future.
Fact: Nuclear power has been virtually insignificant in India’s energy mix in the past, and will be no more important in the future. India has been generating electricity with nuclear reactors for more than 40 years. Yet, reactors supply only 2% to 3% of its electricity today. India has not built more reactors because they have not turned out to be as safe, or as clean, or – most important – as economical as originally thought. Even if India were to achieve a 50% increase in nuclear power generation (which is unlikely) such a step would only increase India’s overall electricity output by one percent at most, and would only increase India’s overall energy output by a fraction of one percent. That is not a significant increase in the energy available to India and would not decrease India’s demand for oil and gas.
Myth #14: The deal is not primarily about making money; it is about creating a new U.S. strategic relationship in south Asia.
Fact: The deal is primarily about making money. The main effect of the deal will be to pardon India – to remove it as a violator of international norms. After such a change in status, there will be no impediment to U.S. arms sales. This is where the real money is, not in nuclear reactors. U.S. exporters have mentioned selling as much as $1.4 billion worth of Boeing airliners, hundreds of F-16 or F/A-18 fighter jets, as well as maritime surveillance planes, advanced radar, helicopters, missile defense and other equipment. The Russian press has even complained that the nuclear deal is a ploy to squeeze Russia out of the Indian arms market.
Rajeev Srinivasan you can ask your RSSBJP leaders to bycot the loksabha and resign from loksabha thus creating presuure on the Govt. for cancelling the NDeal !And march to America Rally -at least you kulak can do it all alone -if you do I will follow you to the American Embassy and protest ! And do write about the hurry that your Atal Vajpayee shown while approving the counter Guarantee to ENRON during his 13 days stint when he had no majority in LokSanha !If you do not write one may rather all should be dubbed as one pof the bunch oif Thug with bunch of Ideas as ur Ideology!

Classic case of comparing apples with oranges. If somebody had done something wrong in the past doesn't allow others to toe the line. Grow up. Atleast give it a shot.

The BJP paved the way not only for ENRON and MONSANTO but tacitly supported this stupid Nuclear deal also. Congress and BJP have always been working in collusion. People like you are fooled by their drama.
At least the Marxists were clear who they were supporting. But the Congress has cheated all of us for their own personal gains. They tell us Muslims about their great concern for us, yet they ally themselves with the US which is killing Muslims by the thousands. Manmohan Singh must have made a few billion dollars from this transaction.

You are right and thats why many people hate them. Unfortunately they have successfully employed the policy of divide and rule to ensure all others are defeated. If nothing works they use money power.
Unfortunately BJP's stupid rhetoric against Muslims has isolated it, it is a known fact that terrorists who fight in name of Islam and common Muslim man in India have very less in common.

Why is it always about muslims.. can't you be Indian for once? This is about India not about 7th century arabian desert cult.. you care less about your countrymen dying in Kashmir and rest of India (at the hands of your co-religionists), may be you even secretly thank your sadistic allah for getting rid of Kafirs... but your heart bleeds for muslims dying in far away places like Iraq! TRAITORS!

Yes, Indian Muslims are more like the Jews in America. The Amercan Jews cry and mourn and do not fail to make a big noise in the press after a Jew is killed or dies in far away Israel.
As usual RS appears to grasp and retain only what his fundamental brain can assimilate. NOT ONCE - not once has he mentioned about the division of Nuclear facilities into defence and Civilian - the fact that only a list of Civilian facilities handed over to the IAEA will come under the purview of inspection and other safeguards that he talks about. He has also not 'noticed' that India's planned production of 10,000MW of power by Nuclear methods have fallen far short of the target at only 2000MW. He has not highlighted the low plight of energy needs in rural India and the fact that because of the 'greatest achievement' of the NDA of exploding Nuclear devises the entire technology and supply of quality uranium was banned to India resulting in the near crippling of our Nuclear facilities.
Other than griping and whinging - in line with the Opposition who have taken their nomenclature seriously and oppose everything even when it gets them a bloody nose-he has not come up with intelligent ideas or alternatives! How can he really when all his brain cells are attuned to hatred of Minorities and any government that is mature enough and at least appears to protect them from the goons of the Sangh Parivar. There have been grave miscarriages of justice now too towards the minorities but at least there is no State Patronage to the lumpen elements as we have seen in Gujarat.
It's time to grow up Rajeev. Improve your writing skills so that there are not so many glaring holes in them

Nuclear power wont even support 10% of our total demand at its best plus importing tech. and fuel comes with heavy price tag and kickbacks too.

If India decides to do nothing after signing the deal, ie, not import any uranium for any reactors (and not declare them as civilian), not build any reactors with external help, etc, we would be no worse off than we are right now.
So, the base line is that after this deal, we are no worse than we were earlier.
It is sad that Rajeev has not read the IAEA safeguards agreement. 1.The safeguards apply to civilian facilities.(Para 11) 2.No agreement would guarantee fuel supplies. Please check if a gas based power plant has guaranteed fuel supply. In a nuclear power plant, the organisation that supplies the equipment also is contracted to supply fuel. Ex Koodankulam in TN. 3.Saying US of A would be benefited is childish, any country with advanced technology in nuclear energy would be benefit. It is like saying, I should not expand my aviation industry because that would benefit Boeing. For the record, France and Russia are more advanced in nuclear power tehcnology and would benefit more. Remember our honourable ex home minister hislef mentioned post POkhran that INdia does not more tests. Why the sudden need now?

It is not on cap of further nuclear testing by india but to have an option in future.more than nuclear testing, this agreement makes our nuclear plants are subjected to the inspection of IAEA countries and let all our secrets go out of our hand.that means you allow me to see your vaults and lockers at your home.is it acceptable to you this deal benefits only on short term but kills sovereiginty of india on long term.
