This just goes to show that whoever is against America is doomed. America provided enough money to make sure that the confidence vote was in favor of the UPA govt. America always wins in the end. Now, only problem is that since America is going to take control of India, I would like to convert to Christianity. However, I read in Bukhari's hadith that if I try to leave Islam, it is punishable by death. Can someone help me convert to Christianity? Please help. Thanks.

S(K)ing Speach .. The Leader of Opposition, Shri L.K. Advani has chosen to use all manner of abusive objectives to describe my performance. He has described me as the weakest Prime Minister, a nikamma PM, and of having devalued the office of PM. To fulfill his ambitions, he has made at least three attempts to topple our government. But on each occasion his astrologers have misled him. This pattern, I am sure, will be repeated today. At his ripe old age, I do not expect Shri Advani to change his thinking. But for his sake and India’s sake, I urge him at least to change his astrologers so that he gets more accurate predictions of things to come.
As for Shri Advani’s various charges, I do not wish to waste the time of the House in rebutting them. All I can say is that before leveling charges of incompetence on others, Shri Advani should do some introspection. Can our nation forgive a Home Minister who slept when the terrorists were knocking at the doors of our Parliament? Can our nation forgive a person who single handedly provided the inspiration for the destruction of the Babri Masjid with all the terrible consequences that followed? To atone for his sins, he suddenly decided to visit Pakistan and there he discovered new virtues in Mr. Jinnah. Alas, his own party and his mentors in the RSS disowned him on this issue. Can our nation approve the conduct of a Home Minister who was sleeping while Gujarat was burning leading to the loss of thousands of innocent live

Okay, I am not a great fan of Congress, but I am proud of MMS as our prime minister. How many of you have been in a thankless position before? Maybe then you can empathize with him. MMS is playing very well with the hand that has been dealt to him. Lesser mortals, and there are plenty of them, would have thrown in the towel.
As a manager, I sometimes work with people who I dislike, but then the project is always more important. The same is the case with MMS - there may be morons around him, but the important thing is that he is pushing ahead with what he thinks is right.
As for those who call him weak and mediocre, remember that he was a former RBI governor. You do not become that because you are mediocre, or weak.
Then there is a lot of you who thinks that MMS takes his orders from 10, Janpath. Well maybe he does and maybe he does not, but how does that make him any less as a prime minister? Tell me one person who has never taken help in his life, and I will show you pigs that can fly.
And finally to those who think India deserves a better PM than MMS, I think it is the other way round - MMS deserves a better country than India. We Indians are not fit to be ruled by academicians and visionaries like MMS and APJ. No we deserve back biting, conniving back stabbers because at the end of the day, that is what we are. In a nation that cannot forgive or forget Gandhi, what chance does MMS stand?

Dear Rupinder, I appreciate your positiveness but if I look at the 4 years of MMS in totality, doesn't feel myself aligned with your words. As a manager you still push on your work inspite of morons around cause you feel accountable to your position and the work expected from you. What if, if you never do anything seriously but suddenly in a certain project takes so much of interest as if it is a question of life and death to you? Beside this deal, in last four years how much dedication we saw in MMS, and if I am not born today, I think there were plenty of important issues Indian public or the country were facing. It is like a father who is hell bend to listen to some charming lady from neighborhood who has mesmerized him by her charm but ignores all the demands and issues of his wife and kids. Why I cannot see him so strong before, when he gave up literally on everything which Left said to him including the ignoring of incidents like Nandigram? Do you really think that MMS used to take "HELP" from 10 janpath? If yes, please do a little more study about congress and its culture. He has studied well in his career, he may have good economic skills, but he definitely do not have skills to lead a complex country like India, and I hope you will agree that economic books do not give you skills to manage issues like our country is having. You need a character for that. Yes, I do sincerely think that India needs a better PM then him, I wish to have a PM who can help our poorest peo
I think you have posted the most rational reply to my comments. Thanks for that. Shame you could not complete it though.
As regards to your rebuttal to my answer, I appreciate your concerns, but there are three aspects to a project - time, cost and quality. You have to balance one against the other two. The trick here is to do the best in the limited resources you have at your disposal and I think MMS is doing a decent job there. I respect your opinion if you think otherwise.
But do keep your comments coming. People like you reaffirm my faith in the little amount of sanity that is left in this country today.

Shamelessly following few leaders won't give us any vision. We need to open our eyes and see how our country has been sold.Confidence vote is over and we still don't have any answers ro many important questions.
How much power will be generatedthrough nuclear technology? How much will it cost? Who will provide the technology? What about the environmental effect, how the nuclear waste is going to be handled? What if the US decides to stop supplying raw materials and technology? etc. I think Govt. should have taken the scientists opinions on these issues before even thinking about the deal.

Well, that was a witty one alright? But have you considered the cost of shipping him to Pluto? Maybe letting him stay on Earth and get us out of this economic mess will be a better idea. I know one thing, I cannot solve the problems this country faces, but that does not give me the right to bark at people who are trying. It is like what a German goalkeeper said - "Few people remember the shots you stopped, fewer forget the ones you let in".

I dont belong to any party/partyman. But hats off to MMS. MMS could have avoided everything if he had not gone for the N-deal. How many political parties and politician are there in India who can put their govt in danger for a vision, which can fulfill energy needs at low cost, if implemented in time. Even how many political parties have some national issues. How many politicians are educated as he is? How many politicians are not involved in any scam/scandal? Stepping back on N-deal was very easy for MMS. Let us make our head clear and should not expect any Ram Raj. But at present persons like MMS are the only hope. Atleast he does not have any corruption charges. He is one of the most eduacated person among world leaders. He has not played any blame game or politics of revenge as others like Mayawati do. I wonder why we Indians start bashinh him. I personally will give him duo credit for being a lesser politician. Otherwise what you expect we need a PM like Lalu, Mayawati, Karat. Bullshit. I think we need more and more educated, selfless & sicere persons like MMS in Indian politics. Only then there will be little hope. He is the best among what ever we have. I am sure US will never propose any big deal like N-deal to the persons like Mayawati/Lalu/Mulayam. Because everyone know it is beyond their understanding. I wish if MMS could have become PM without the support of any party especially left earlier.

Yet another congress, sonia sycophant, who thinks he simply HAS to defend the actions of an immoral, conscience-less, power-monger like MMS.
You say the ""project is more important." That is precisely what many Indians are questioning, MORON - WHAT project, WHAT agenda has he up his sleeve? Is his agenda to keep the Nehru-Gndhi can in power, because of his gratitude to Indira Gandhi? Is he using the highest office in India to fulfill his personal favors?
What part of the criticisms of MMS didn't you get? You seem to think that criticisms of MMS's handling of the nuclear deal and his conduct as PM in the last five years is some kind of personal attack against YOU and your Sikh community. Poeple want to know what is the private deal that MMS and Sonia struck with the US lobbyist.
Plus, are we supposed to sympathize with the PM who has openly shed tears for the terrorists that blew up Indian civilians, while ignoring the plight of the victims of the terrorist blasts? What is the grand agenda of MMS and Sonia?? Pray tell us, since YOU seem to know a lot about it!

Okay. I think Vas is getting a bit carried away with all this. I can report this for abuse, but on second thoughts, it would only mean hiding the true feelings of some misled and misguided people, who love to misinterpret things.
Vas, he may be the worst prime minister we have, but tell me one guy who can do better. I respected ABV a lot but I think he has grown too old now. I cannot trust LKA because he has a history of "foot in the mouth" syndrome. Who else is there? Well there is Mayawati of course but we are talking progress here. If you think that MMS should go, great, but tell me this - are you willing to take his place? I know I am not, because it is at the end of the day a thankless job. Push the nuclear deal, he is pushing his personal agenda. Do something for the minorities, he is appeasing them. Accommodate a minister, he is following orders from 10, Janpath. PLEASE, give the man a life. It is not easy leading a country, but let us give credit to a person who is trying to do it IN SPITE of people like you who love to hate him.
And no, I don't think you are a Sikh hater, and yes, I am a Sikh. BUT, I am not proud of every Sikh who becomes something in life. I dislike Navjot Singh Sidhu, I detest the leadership in Punjab, I think that the Sikh community itself was to blame for what happened in 1980s.
I don't mean to change your opinion about MMS, but I hope that I have given you some new line of thought. Hopefully, that would mean that democracy has a chance h

just when did we last took pride in our democracy. When Indira Gandhi imposed emergency or when Narsimha rao won trust vote or may be when Gujrat was burning and the then PM and home minister chose to look other way and a certain cabinet minister retorted that since such things have happened in the past there is nothing so abnormal about it!!!! Wake up dear, there have been countless number of occasions when a common man has hung his head in shame over the slow degeneration of indian politics

Yup, congrtulations to the congress for buying off votes here and there. Plus, receiving enormous kickbacks from US nuclear lobbyist, particularly from the Bush administration, to go push the nuclear deal through, etc,.
Anymore of the "achievements" of the Congress you'd like to congratulate them on? The list could be a verrrry looong one!
RE:Biased article

Not enough as the congress paid the other MPs to vote for them. And certainly not enough as the congress received from the US lobbyist, particularly the Bush administration, to push the nuclear deal through...
By the way, how much does congress pay to loyalists like you, to fart out their "accolade" every few seconds. Come on...fella..don't be coy. Let us know your price. I promise you won't even have to dance on top of the table in your bikini underwear for that sum, unlike what the congress makes you do. I'll slip it to you in an envelope - real decently and nicely, and you can be fully clothed.
I am delighted! Forget party lines, for the first time in India's political history, a common Indian, an educated professional, who has no politics on his mind has used the politicians to forward his mission - because, he definitely understands the good of the country better than these politicians who only know 'notes' and 'votes'. MMS has shown what an educated, smart, Indian can reduce these politicans to - he proved to be smarter and more cunning than all these politicians on both sides of the deal and beat them hollow in their own number game. The way he mobilized support within his own party to push the deal through without support of the Left, and the way he cornered the BJP and put the Left between the rock and the hard place (read, between "Advani" and "Mayawati") is hilarious. I think this should motivate more sucessful professionals from various walks of life to join politics and save the country from the clan of 'netas' who will sell their mothers any way to get more power and money. Mr Karat, who thinks he is a master of the blackmail game, has been reduced to a sorry state within his own party, and Mr. Advani, who has always instigated crisis rather than resolving one, has been made to eat humble pie. And all this has been done with the politeness and humble attitude of a man who knows what's the worth of these politicians and what treatment they deserve. Bravo, Dr. Singh, we salute you!

How about the way congress paid for the votes? Wasn't that real clever too...? Oooo, I'm gushing with pride for the 'educated' blokes of India. What a smart man, MMS! He knows how to take bribes and how to give them! WOW. I'm all full of goose-pimples. No wonder he makes everyone of us eat humble-pie with his "smartness." We idiots don't know how to buy people off, like the way MMS and congress does. WOW! I'm all dazzled...blown out of my mind, dude! Does he have a daughter I can marry, dude? I want to learn to be smart like MMS, dude! WOW!
This is a typical reponse from BJP.they have always been bad losers, after the defeat of BJP in 2004 Parliamentary Elections they came up with simmilar rhetoric.sushma swaraj and uma bharati were even ready to tonsure their head so that a perfecly legitamately elected person could not become PM.Shame on BJP.there script reads like a c grade bollywood film having c grade actors.

Hasn't congress been playing this 'bad loser' game all their lives? When NDA was in power, didn't they buy off most of the Indian press to say nasty things about the BJP, and pump up their own image through lies and deceit. Weren't the congress the first to label the BJP as a HIndu fundamentalist group, and use that in every political meeting. Didn't Sonia stoop so low as to call Modi as the "merchant of death' and then tried every trick in the book to bad-mouth the Modi government after she lost miserably.
Talek about sore-losers! Congress has history of licking its sores after every loss from time immemorial! Its like the kettle (on the fire)_ calling the tea-pot black. Er..you get the idea?
