In national interest
by jaideep shirali on Jul 21, 2008 03:49 PM  Permalink

A typical bureaucratic statement to hidethe uncomfortable truth. When a riot takes place, a commitee is appointed to fidn out the truth "in the public interest". When it blows the lid off babus, netas or thier chamchas, the report is buried "in the public interest". So Mr Singh, for once, we the people need to know in the national interest, why it is necessary to free crooks from jail to save your skin ?

i agree with rajesh, pls look at the common man how many under bpl, social security, medicines, medical facilities, electrification of villages, roads, where is basic infrastructure? narayan murthy will talk as per scientific progress, pls read the preamble, v are a democratic secular socialist republic. what has happened to comman man? cities like new mumbai going 5 hrs without power, pls donot even think abt rural areas, no power for more than 12 to 15 hrs. u call this progress? look at the esis schemes, ar ethey beneficial? no medicines available you think this is progress. by launching a satelite what good has it done when u cannot predict natural disasters, law and order in capital itself is bad what about states like up/bihar. 60yrs of independence has only increased the gap between rich n poor and divided the country more on sectorial and caste basis by acknowledging that economic backwardness is not the bench mark but the birth of a person is determining the reservation to education/jobs. well the list is long. am sure alot of my friends will contribute on this board of the progress of the nation. pls dont count billionaires but chk percapita income.pls dont compare with bhutan/pakistan/indonesiaafghanistan. the bench mark has to be higher, take japan/china even russia. u will realise what v hv achieved in 60 yrs, buying selling of mps to retain power.

halum, progress will happen until ofcourse u are an african nation, as matter of fact we are better than some, but if u compare with cuba, the social security of common man/ education/ sports have developed more as compared to us, n v have done better than them in space and science. but pls accept that the country exists in rural and semi rural areas instead of the metropolis there again the gap is too much.
dont we as indians who specialy from middleclass and the service oriented poeple pay our taxes on time? it people like us who are regulars in paying our taxes compared to businessmen and politicians who dont. as a person who payes the taxes, isn't it my right to basic necessities of life? what does it matter to me if v hv launched a satelite? lets think aboout that, toll stations rip you up, one keeps on paying for their up keep, cess which is applied on all taxes goes on for generations. is there any sanity in this?? public money is misused by right from the corporator to the mp, loan waivers/electricity bills waivers all done by them who pays we tax payers, we hv all the right to ask for better facilities. hope the next elections are earlier after this sordid chapter by a bunch of morons coses with the fall of the govt. on 22nd

Hunger has not vanished from India, nor has starvation. These are being simply covered up
as malnutrition by lying state governments. Do you know in Thane's Adivasi district (that's just 50 miles from Mumbai) several hundred tribal children have died due to starvation; and several thousand are malnourished, with distended bellies. There was a time, when Mr. James Lyngdoh mentioned, that "we (the IAS) officers were given hell if there was a riot or starvation death under our charge". How times have changed.

Incidentally, Sify carried a WHO report two days back, (Sat. July 19) that a full 1.2 billion people in the world do not have adequate toilet facilities, and are forced to defecate out in the open. 625 million of our unfortunate countrymen (a full 50% of the WHO) form a part of this underprivileged global group.

You will have to accept India as she is. Nobody will be able to eliminate caste systems in India. This situation is because the majority of the people (we are) are dumb and no spine. Thats why all politicians and merchants ride on our back. Not only congress but BJP, Jansangh, all caste based parties, the present 'holier than thou' communists, Ambanis, Tatas, Mittals all are responsible for this plight. even you and I are also responsible since we sit in A/C rooms and write these messages which reach only 0.00000001% of the population of India. waste of time.

      India is dieing
by fun guy on Jul 21, 2008 01:50 PM Permalink | Hide replies

Indian agriculture largest employment provider is dieing.

Indian textile industry, which is second largest employment provider, is dieing with out proper technology and infrastructure.

Other core industries are dieing due to lack of technical manpower due to migration to IT industry.

even IT industry is dieing because of lack of competent skilled manpower to create product. Now they are doing low level works.

Poor are dieing due to high inflation

So india is dieing but foolish economist like MMS want only nuke deal for future.

What a great people

When power fails, people like you curses the govt. It is only because of people like MMS & PC that we are surviving this difficult time which is affecting economies world wide. Its true that little was done for 'future' in the first six decades of our independence. But it is first time that a PM is fighting to do something which is going to benefit the generations to come. For this cause he even has put his govt. on stake. Please dont under estimate this deal.

GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE
by Govardhan Brown on Jul 21, 2008 03:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

And for the first day of the 4th week of the 7th month of 2008, here are my thoughts in response to Ahmad Nawaz:
I don't know Ahmad Nawaz, if you would put that tag of sponeless, servile idiots, on P V Narasimha Rao, or even Atal Behari Vajpayee.
What is needed is a clear hard-headed vision: this bit of tinkering with a law here to gain a local advantage there, ignoring the crimes of your supporters, while setting the hounds on your opponents, roiling the country with
reservations, when you are currently unable to fill up the early generous quota, the incredible
pettiness and shabbiness of a health minister who seeks to humiliate an eminent surgeon, and
gets Parliament to pass a law to oust him, all these are something that we can see, but unfortunately not the politicians. The 'upright, honest, intellectual, eminent economist' who is our PM says he has taken all these measures in the nation's interest.

When you are bogged down in such cheap, squalid mean little manipulations and maneuvering, the last thing that is possible is to flex your your muscles internationally, or make yourself heard.

Anyone, almost anyone in India could have told this unelected Prime Minister of India that
taking the Left's help to form a government is to put a noose around your head, with the lead rope in the Left's hands. You move too far... you move too slow... you stand still...any which
way the noose will tighten.

RE:GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE

PART II of my posting.

I didn't want to bring religion into this discussion, but to Muslims, the Prophet (Sal'Allah-Wale-Wa'sal-Allam) is a man as perfect as Allah could make. Muslims venerate (not worship, note please) the Prophet; Hindus venerate Ram equally as Maryada-Purshottam.
To denigrate Ram in the language that Karunanidhi did, I suppose the man of integrity, honest, upright, intellectual, subscribes to the view that this, too, was in the nation's interest.

With such 'visionaries', you expect India to flex its muscles, internationally.

As regards Pakistan, since their founding they have had 3A pillars, Allah, Army & America. Fine, move closer to America (BUT ON YOUR TERMS). As far as the Pak Army is concerned, raise your strategic and tactical resources to a level that Pakistan, even with China's help can never match. For years together, you have allowed Pakistan to set your agenda, now move so far ahead that Pakistan ends up "eating grass" if they try to match us.

The move to support the Karzai government in Afghanistan is the first genuine strategic
initiative that this government has taken. Otherwise, the less said, the better.

why hide ?
by Sandipan Gupta on Jul 21, 2008 03:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why the details of the deal is hidden from the general public ? Both sides have been repeating these words for the last few weeks - "in the interest of the nation" - but the citizens of the nation are still waiting for the details of the deal. People should know which clauses in the deal has brought two extreme rivals of each other the BJP and the LEFT, on the same side of the fence.

I agree with Kalam, he is a role model, but I think he will get caught up (just like Manmohan Singh has) in politics, it is very unfortunate. As for the other replies, you people are the problem, instead of having an intelligent discussion, you get pulled into bullshitting around, or if nothing else abusing Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and everyone else.

As for Mayawati, I don't think she should be running a country, same goes for Modi. Both of them (in my opinion) don't have the intelligence or respect from the Indian people. Now I know Manmohan Singh was picked by Sonia Gandhi to be PM, but atleast his credentials are in the right place.
