Hunger has not vanished from India, nor has starvation. These are being simply covered up as malnutrition by lying state governments. Do you know in Thane's Adivasi district (that's just 50 miles from Mumbai) several hundred tribal children have died due to starvation; and several thousand are malnourished, with distended bellies. There was a time, when Mr. James Lyngdoh mentioned, that "we (the IAS) officers were given hell if there was a riot or starvation death under our charge". How times have changed.
Incidentally, Sify carried a WHO report two days back, (Sat. July 19) that a full 1.2 billion people in the world do not have adequate toilet facilities, and are forced to defecate out in the open. 625 million of our unfortunate countrymen (a full 50% of the WHO) form a part of this underprivileged global group.
