It is wrong to say that he won becuase of CPIM ticket. He has won 8 times 40 years is no less figure. And the one who are asking him to resign are Karat and Yechuri who have never won or even faught corporal elections, all back door leaders.Karat himself studied in London and now telling others to be anti west.If election takes place who will come power in next election?BJP as we all know.So whom Karat is helping? It is ironical that Karat is with Mayawati who is as honest as we know now She is agree to take support of Ateeq Ahmad who killed BSP MLA. What kind of BSP leader she is standing with murderer of her own party MLA. As these crooks will return again in next election it is better this govt survives one more year saving Money wasted in Mid term election. If we have better alternative we should go for election but next parliament will be agian hung with devgauda, Ajit Sibu all bargaining.

Somnath was the best speaker so far. He is one of worthy politicians of this country who deserve respect and admiration. With the kind of mean and rowdy opposition in the Parliament, he managed the show with finest democratic skills. Dragging him in controveries is only ruins the Indian demaocratic standards.

Breach of Trust to people who elected Mr. Chatterji
by Kamal on Jul 20, 2008 08:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its all can be argued the way in which you want to argue. The very fact is had Mr. Chatterji did not win Lok Sabha seat on Left seat, he would not have become a speaker. By taking this stand, he defies the people who vote for left and elected him to Lok Sabha. Its a clear Breach of Trust. The reason he attributes is totally absurd. Its because of left's withdral of support the current scenerio is created. Its not because of BJP brought in no confidence motion. Who knows? Is it yet another 25C matter? I dont believe so taking into calibre of Mr. Chatterji. He took advise of his close political guru Mr. Basu and set aside his advice too.

Somnath Chatterjee, as a national leader, once elected as speaker of Lok Sabha, can only be sacked by the house. There has been no formal moves the Lok Sabha to sack him, so he remains by law the supreme ruler of the House. Check your facts on this. The speaker doesn't have to follow party line, but has casting vote in the event of a deadlock.
This is the big difference between speaker and all other MPs.
Until Indian politicians realise and respect this fact, there will be no parliamentary disclipline in India, and we as a nation, will continue to reason by emotion and not facts, such that you have demonstrated.
India today is crying out for people like Somnath Chatterjee and Manmohan Singh who believe in the integrity of their office and no short term opportunism.

Do you think people of india does not look at individual and vote only based on party? If that is the case, all these parties would not need to offer tickets to criminals.

somanath clinging to speakers position has nothing to do with dignity of speakers position, indian politicians has no such values, it is his personal matter that perhaps he is against karat or against bjp or any such reasons, no indian politician is so clean that we naive people need to congratulate them.

Speaker
by aandhi on Jul 20, 2008 08:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is simply an article far from truth with a definite purpose just to create confusion in the ranks of left.
Somnath chaterji is speaker of Lok Sabha simply because he was elected on CPI-M ticket, otherwise he could not have been a speaker and afterwards also he would have held a party post. A person can be said apolitical if he resigns from the membership of his parent party after getting elected as speaker.
Somnath has conducted parliament in the worst possible manner openly being unfair.
Somnath is and has been a political person and is in no case above party politics, He is openly opposing and showing his nature by saying that he does not want to vote alongside BJP.
His constituency has been declared reserved, so he can not be a candidate from that constituency which has forced him to look for greener pastures with the help of Congress.

In that case, bring a motion to formally move to sack Somnath Chatterjee.
Since sacking of Somnath Chatterjee has not been introduced as formal motion to Lok Sabha, he will remain speaker.
Respect parliamentary processes otherwise we risk being seen as a laughable democracy where goondaism, threats and bullying is preferred over rule of law.

Communista are perishing from the world!
by MM Gupta on Jul 20, 2008 08:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Darwin's theory was the base on which communism grew at one time!Abundant killing of innocent men cant establish an ideology for ever!Europe has shunned it and China too is leaving it!
Look at India IN 1967, IN WB due to CM late Prafulla Sen's loose comments people switched over to
'YUKTAFRONT' where leftists were allies!THe clever Jyoti Bose grabbed home deptt and oriented police force and slowly grabbed the political control over years and now by manipulations they get seats!
Its not a fair election anyway and people's votes are cast by partymen!
In the central stage too, these leftists (CPM mainly)try to make a furore a totally hollow one, to show to less, understanding mass as if they are doing a great job!
ALL LIES!
THEIR IDEOLOGY WHICH WAS BASED ON DARWIN'S THEORY IS LONG DEAD!IF they are controlled by force somehow all their suppoeters will flee and the leaders will stand naked!
That day is coming!
WHEN TORTURE IS THE TOOL OF A PARTY THEY CANT LAST!
MOREOVER THEY THOUGHT THEY WILL ENCASH THE SITUATION AS THEY DID IN WB IN 1967 !
TODAY IT HAS NOT HAPPENED!CONGRESS HAS NOT ALLOWED THAT!THEREFORE THE SUPPORTS ARE WITHDRAWN AND FUNNILY ENOUGH CHINA HAS SHOWN SUPPORT FOR N-DEAL TO INDIA --TO BE WATCHED BECAUSE THEY TOO CANT BE BELIEVED!
ANYWAY THOSE WHO KNOW IT INDIA'S OWN PHILOSOPHY IS CAPABLE OF ESTABLISHING HER IN NUMBER ONE POSITION IN THE WORLD !ITS NOT SO BECAUSE CONGRESS LED BY SEMI WISE NEHRU DISREGARDED 'SANATAN DHARMA'WHICH IS INDIA'S ORIGINAL PHILOSOPHY !

You are completely a fool..don't know about maxism and darwinism..your view about 1967 politics are build up from some crap data..Its A fair election anyway and peoples vote are NOT casted by partymen..other wise CPIM would have scored more than 75% vote in Panchayet election while they score with almost 50% of Votes..if you have any records go back to the past..just look at what is % of votes CPIM used to get except once it was almost 50% all the time..fools like you are the real boot lickers of congress

If WB election is fair then the corruptions and the present 'horse trading' too are fair!
Kicking out the cpm goons too is fair!

Hats off to somnath chatterjee for his bold step taken. Obviously Speeker is above party politics & neutral post.
I request Mr.Karat to look at china & Russia how they have done the same nukedeal.if they could do Why should we not.why they are so afraid of USA? It is the USA's interest to make friendship with us not ours.We are not so weak that we will loose our sovereignty. So MR. Karat leave your cowardly attitude. BE brave.
