nero is fiddling!
by shiva on Jul 21, 2008 06:27 AM  Permalink

It is time all parties came together to further core national interests & energy security is at the top. If 70% dependency on Gulf countries does not warrant immediate steps, it looks like even atheists leave it to God to take care of us!

Communist ideology is good in theory but has inflicted misery on the people. China has discarded it & now embrace nationlism to keep the unity. Millions died & those who fled to other countries flourished. The rest learnt a bitter lesson from lost decades. Now they are in a frenzy to make up lost time by outdoing even US & Europe! Vietnam is embracing capitalism & US! Cambodia is still in a daze trying to make sense of the Pol Pot atrocities which killed quarter of its people. People just went on a frenzy to mutilate & kill their own who they felt were not toeing the line. Even the brightest, like prison chief Duch, led one of the most inhuman episodes. North Korea & Cuba are taking baby steps to come out of the caves!

Our politics create heat only & is like an endless TV serial. Our future is tied to our weaning away from fossil fuels & even China is making giant steps. We even import coal! Those who oppose should give positive vibes on their takes on solving the problems than playing games to ruin our future. Are the party interests above country's? Do we want to be manipulated by a system like those under Mao & Pol Pot? Keralites could run away to keep body & soul together but what about the rest if they prevail? Think of aam aadmi!

Neeraj Chaudary's arguments are not correct
by mallaiah anchoori on Jul 21, 2008 05:56 AM  Permalink

Neeraja Chaudary tried her best to prevail upon the readers convinced of her arguments which basically support the stand of the left parties & paradoxically, also,of Somnath. Her urge for appreciation for Somnath ignores the basic fact that he could be speaker only because he happens to be an MP and his happening to be an MP is only because of his being the member of his party on whose symbol he got elected. His constitutional role should, hence, come only next to his loyalty to his party. He should first prove himself as a disciplined soldier of his party which was instrumental for his being speaker today.Somnath is known for his emotional imbalance which became a subject matter for more than once during his term as speaker till now.His contributuion to the party for the past 40 years does not give him a free handle to defy his party's discipline, which,as said by Chaudary herself is valued a lot by communists. It can also be not ruled out that, being once the candidate for presidentship to have been unobjected by Congress,he must have developed a sense of gratitude towards it in his heart of heart. After all, human passions some times, outweighs all politics & party disciplines & Chatterjee need not be an exception to this. There is nothing wrong in Karath's including his name in the list of his party's MPs withdrawing support, since while forwarding it at the time of extending the support too his name figured. In what way does it alter his primary membership of the party?

In India the communists
by good desi on Jul 21, 2008 05:49 AM  Permalink

The text below was taken from historyofjihadDOTcom :

In India, the communists have been at the forefront at white-washing the record of Muslim tyranny in India. The shameless or rather shameful Romila Thapar and her ilk are busy in painting the Muslim interlude of savagery in India as a glorious period of Indian History. It is such creepy ideologues like Romila and her tribe at the JNU (Jawarharlal Nehru University) and other campuses which the commies have infiltrated where they spread the canard about the poor lower castes who they say converted to Islam to save themselves from Hindu tyranny. The commies who are the bosom pals of the Muslims should be purged from all the universities, the media, from political and all aspects of public life. We need communists like Islam Karimov, not ones like Pranoy Roy, the owner of NDTV, the communist TV channel, or N.Ram, the editor of Hindu, the pro-anarchist communist newssheet in India, or Romila Thapar and Irfan Habib two of those communist specimen who infest Indian universities; or the scum (socially challenged urban morons) of all of them – the likes of Sitaram Yechury, Somnath Chatterjee – both of whom lead rumps of the two communist outfits in India. Romila and her tribe should be banished to the concentration camps in the true communist tradition to be re-educated, and if they do not fall in line then to be purged mercilessly again in the true communist tradition of Gulags.

Shameless, hypocrite CPIM / CPI: The great Traitors in Indian History
by Arijit on Jul 21, 2008 03:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

"Karat himself has made it clear that it is 'hypocritical' to think that the Speaker is 'without a party or politics.'"....Good for Karat to confess in some direct way that the Speakers are not above the party colour, and thus, the speaker of West Bengal Assembly is still allowing stupid CPIM ministers to do whatever they feel! Somnath is a bourgeois crap. Karat was enjoying the luxury though he was not having any responsibility inside the Govt. Now he can foresee that Somnath is stil enjoying facilities and Somnath will be elevated to the position of Diplomat (as promised by Sonia)!! This is one sort of political jealousy rather than CPIM's STUPID, BASELESS NORM!!

Karat, Yechuri (Sita Ram), Bardhan, Jyoti, Raja, Buddha, all of you are craps. You people know how to KEEP THE POORER SECTION of citizens as POOR for ever and enjoy the benefits of their illiteracy, poverty!!! I wish that Karl Marx get awakened from his grave and kill you people immediately!!! You CPIM/CPI deserve this fate!!

Shameless, hypocrite, HEADLESS CHICKEN Karat, Bardhan, Jyoti, Surjit, Raja, ChandraChodan (!!!), Buddha!!! You people are the traitors and enemy of India.

What Karat said is treason. every MP who had taken oath has done to defend the constitution and its principles. The what karat proposed was treason. This the real communist ideology. The facade of democracy is to fool the common man. Atleast now recognize them for what it is. The same with any communal(muslim league or KC) or facist party(BJP,BSP) they are just doing it because they cant govern on their won.

Benefits of Nuclear Deal
by M Srinivas on Jul 21, 2008 12:08 AM  Permalink

If nuclear deal goes through, India's energy needs will be fully met, Nuclear energy is infinite energy though it more costly by 20% to 50% than coal or hydro electricity. More and more industries can be started, lot of employment can be generated for people and there will be overall improvement of life of people. There is possibility that India can become an economic superpower like Japan or USA. Regarding security, when India gradually become an economic superpower, more and more i.e. 10 times more conventional weapons, 10 times more missiles, 10 times more fighter planes and 10 times more nuclear weapons can be built. More navy ships and more submarines, more fighter planes can be built or purchased. India had already exploded nuclear weapons. When India gradually becomes a economic superpower, govt. will have more money, hundreds or thousands of missiles with nuclear and conventional warheads can be built. No country will raise a hand against India. Now it is necessary that, India's energy needs are to be met and India had to become an economic superpower. Massive build up of weapons (nuclear and conventional) can be taken up gradually in future. China or Pakistan will never dare to attack India, as India is a nuclear power and nuclear missiles can reach Bejing. If nuclear deal goes through, India likely to become an economic superpower as well as military superpower or mini military superpower in future. There will also be an option to buy gas from Iran in addition to nu

CPI CPI(M) = ?
by Singh SD on Jul 20, 2008 10:46 PM  Permalink

While looking back in the last 40 years everytime there was a need both main communist parties got together ,right. If it is the case then why don't they go for merger ? Reason is very simple like other parties everybody wants to be a leader and they are not in a position to accept others as their leader .And that is the reason with every party ,thus comrades are not different than others.
Now again on Somnath issue polarisation is going to take place within CPI(M) & A Split is inevitable .

Why this undue haste
by Gopal on Jul 20, 2008 10:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Look at the scenario. Every one talk of politics and number game. They forget the basic issue. Here is the winner -the N-deal.

Let every MP be in the know of all the details of N-deal. Starting from the surrendering of India's sovereignty and independence. The hidden and undemocratic and unethical moves by the congress. Deceitful handling of the whole subject. They are answerable to the people during the next election.

All these kala-bulee is for the sake of just 10% max of total energy at a total cost of 3 lakh crores of rupees scheduled to be spent in 20 years crippling the financial system of India. The waste disposal and safety against radiation is the biggest problem -technically and financially. Twenty years from now Uranium will be a rare material!! The congress is in for any kind of 'back-door deal' to gain support from anybody in the parliament.

It is unpardonable to divide society vertically for the sake of a N-deal -'sign-off' of our sovereignty and freedom. All the good works done by congress will be made opaque by this single act. Let the present congress leaders emulate the old generations of congress leaders who lead freedom movement. At the moment I can only pray to God to give them good sense and allow them to think without prejudice and biases.

Why this 'undue haste'?

Let a VIDURA be born in congress to guide them.

Prestige of an individual is nothing when we talk of NATIONAL INTEREST.

Avoid number game.

congress of the old had a diffrent result in mind, freedom from Britain. COngress and BJP(hopefully) of the present have diffrent results. Development of the nation. Also please realize that congress and BJP do not disagree on the deal per-se. They disagree on the points and technicalities. Left does not want us to have any deal with US at all for any reason.

GOVT OF the Chores, By the Chores, For the Chores

NUCLEAR DEAL AND CORRUPT POLITICIANS.....

There is NOT one person here who thinks that there is ONE politician or party that is SOLELY thinking of what is good for India. They are all power and thieves.

I have worked on design and commissioning of a Nuclear Power Plant, in India case it will be 15yrs before you see ONE KW of power is generated and huge cost overruns. Till this deal is satisfactorily resolved, India can start building coal fired power plants, using scrubbers to reduce CO2.

OUR problem is not natural resources, brains or manpower--its our corrupt low life politicians==who reek of greed, ghoondagirdhi, treason, corruption to their very bone and soul.
They are satanic and live on the blood of aam aadmi.

RE:GOVT OF the Chores, By the Chores, For the Chores
by Girish Rao on Jul 20, 2008 10:41 PM  Permalink
India has very poor natural resources compared to US or Britain. India has very little oil, gas. Even in metals and minerals India is quite poor compared to China. Many regions are arid and desertification is creeping up slowly. India does not have substantial irrigation and many regions still depend solely on monsoons with no science and technology and no irrigation whatsoever. And if monsoons go kapoot India's food sufficiency is down the drain. India's per-capita land is very small compared to many regions. And do not forget that windpower, bio-fuel, Solar Energy all take up lands and lots of it. 15 years is a short time. You should be happy that atleast one political party is thinking of things 15 years down the line.

Tnaks for PM's decision
by VB on Jul 20, 2008 09:57 PM  Permalink

A person like Mr. Manmohan Singh only could take bold decision by risking his govt. He stood for the country. This will in long term benefit the country. As we see country benefited from IT, auto, Textile, economic liberalisation and farm loan waiver. This is such a fturistic decision. We people anst it and our represenatives would take good decision.
