Dear Mr Siddiqui, Neither the deal is going to affect the foreign policy for 50 years nor the coming generations will have to suffer from it. The deal is initially valid for 40 years and automatically renewable to the duration of 10 years each after expiry. So its a never ending deal which can be revoked by giving 1 year notice by the either party (reasons for such withdrawal must be stated). It is clearly stated that the sovereignty, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, reciprocity and due respect for each other's nuclear programmes will be followed. Commitment towards the prevention of proliferation of nuclear warheads is there which is in no way like signing NPT which has been against India’s foreign policy, all of us know that every citizen of the world is against any kind of nuclear war. This deal is about India getting access to uninterrupted fuel supply for the lifetime of its nuclear reactors. The fuel must be used for peaceful purposes, if violated then US/NSG have right to require return by the other Party of any nuclear material, equipment, non-nuclear material or components transferred under this Agreement and any special fissionable material produced through their use. Its so pity that none of our lawmakers understand the deal, in spite all of them are doing every bit possible to oppose/favor the deal. Positive Points: India will have access to fuel which it has always wanted to use for peaceful purposes. India is

Abhinav, It is good you spent soem time to understand the deal. It is a Unipolar world and US has absolute control. Here the concern is with US's might it can correlate nuclear fuel supply with foreign policy. If India is good with them it may get supply etc. We can get supply from France or Russia but these countries also will follow what US dictates.

Dear Rasheed,
UR urself contradicting ur words, u know USA is so powerful that they can influnce France and Russia means whethere we sign a deal or not we dont have a option to be good with USA. In world politics no permenant enemy no permenant freinds take example of Russia & USA or USA & Japan........ So better to be friend with USA and benifit from it, like Nuclear fuel, parmenant UN seat and some more...

It is nothing new .. where you got a PUPPET PM, a RUBBER STAMP PRESIDENT and 60 years old LAW, where a Howard educated PM still sees benefits in CASTE/CREED RESERVATION, it is not surprising.

This is a country where a party president bribing in US dollar. You cannot expect more...
Wake UP my countrymen ! I know this will fall on deaf ears as most of us are, since most of us have grown up blindly believing the mass media which is greatly manipulated and controlled by the corporates and the politicians. You have the choice of actually listening before making the decision. Rise above the herd and look for the facts about the US-INDIA 123 agreement, about the Hyde act, about the US policy towards South Asian nuclear disarmament and world dominance, About the IAEA safeguards agreement.
You will begin to see that this deal is just a ploy to gain greater control over india's foreign policy. I will also drain money out of India when we already has a trade deficit of US$ 20.5 Billion . We are headed for an economic meltdown ourselves, just that it is long way away and the media never publishes stuff that the "Bosses" don't want them to.
I am not favouring Mr Siddiqi, he is just another case of the broken clock giving the correct time twice a day.

Power corrupts , greater power corrupts greatly and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
A few bribes here and there for saving the government are insignificant when compared to how the Corporates are growing at the cost of the Country.
If the above comment does not make sense, please, please google (search) "The Corporation" and if possible download the movie (It is a freely available download via torrents- and legally free too). This will wake you up to the truth of what our civilization calls "growth".
I will be highly grateful if the above message reaches even a single fellow human.
Now the time has come, Supreme Court, the highest legal authority of the country, should intervene in this situation to save the country. They should stop the defection among MPs immediately to curb the horse trading.Only money game is going on behind the deal and the actual nuclear deal is shaded. What unfortunate the poor people of the country!

All the defections including that of Shahid Siddiqui shows it is not UPA but UNPA and NDA that are indulging in the defection game. But Shahid Siddiqui's defection has made the game clearer:
a. The Left's game-plan is to foster Mayawati on the nation b. As the UNPA gains momentum, BJP's prospect of victory shrinks. What follows maybe is mass desertion by regional parties, particularly of NDA towards UNPA c. The deal is being opposed as anti-Muslim
Within these re-alignments taking place, the BJP and NDA may re-consider their vote. Abstentions maybe the order of the game

Your surname says it all! For 80% of the 60 years that this country has existed the Congress party had ruled this country. We don’t see electricity, roads or buses or trains? So why do you think the some one who is not a patient at a lunatic asylum should believe you? If this was this entire nation needed we should not have got independent from the British. They did a better job in all these aspects.
As if this man, is standing against the deal for India's Cause. His mind did not work till yesterday and now only he realized truth and changed to BSP!!!. Are we fools to believe this ? You stupid politicians..Go to Hell...
RE:RE:What a Stupid Argument?
by PKN on Jul 20, 2008 02:04 PM Permalink
Stupid politicians rule the country only because stupid voters like you vote them in! Shahid Siddiqui was a member of a party that believed that the N-deal was not good for India. If that party suddenly in two weeks, after meeting Kalaam and Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid decides that the N-deal is good then Amar Singh and Shahid Siddiqui are equally immoral! If Amar Singh had good personal reasons to go with the Congress, Shahid Siddiqui has good personal reasons to go with Mayawati. Every politician cares only for himself. Even that ego-maniac Jawaharlal Nehru cared two hoots for this nation and was more concerned about himself and his personal image. His obsession for himself to some extend for Lady Mountbatten was much larger than his concern for this nation that chose foolishly to make the PM. So stop daydreaming that Shahid Siddiqui is the only immoral politician in this country
