Missing the point
by Pawan Singh on Jul 17, 2008 04:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The point is not the Nuclear Deal but a decision on who the country should be consorting with. Consider: Would you consort with the devil if he presented himself as the most appealing, charming, witty and urbane man/woman knowing his true nature?

Today the US stands discredited and for sound reasons post the recent wars. Further, its motives can only be suspect after Bush denounced India for rising food prices. Both McCain and Obama appear to be worldly wise and sensitive to world opinion. Both have declared support for a nuclear India. We can go in with better protection of our interests. In the worst case we can always give in - later.

I think the opposition camp has got it right but for all the wrong reasons. Includes the Left. So what. Long live the right step. Gives a chance later.

by Subhankar Basu on Jul 17, 2008 04:42 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If the price of support (per M.P.) in 2008 is Rs 25 Crores, then at what price (per M.P.) did the CPM support the UPA in 2004 ?

To be a True Communist one must be a True Nationalist, it is for the first time Indian Communists have shown their Nationalist character. Secondly, in Marxism, there is nothing called, Secularism, it is a creation of Indian communist only. Recently China has demolishes 41 Mosques in Xingxiang province for propogating Islamic fundamentalism and separationist movement. So, there is nothing wrong if Left votes with BJP for the interest of Nation, those Bangali Babus donot like this decision may go to Bangadesh. Thank you.

CAN WE SAY LOUDLY NOW AS 'MERA BHARAT MAHAN
by wani bhardwaj on Jul 17, 2008 04:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As far as the present trust motion is concerned, it is unfortunate that UPA is bringing a trust motion on Nuclear Deal or 123 agreements even though we are enough problems to solve. I understand that all the political leaders irrespective of the left, right, small parties, are supporting nuclear deal, but they wants to clear some clarifications which has to be rectified or corrected before they goes to sign the agreement finally. Instead of bringing a trust motion at this later stage, UPA had to make a two days special session of parliament for the discussion of nuclear deal in Parliament and find out an amicable and favourable passing of bill after giving clarifications requested for by the elected members of Parliament thereby getting complete concensus on this issue. By making parliamentary democracy a mockery and coalition politics a farce, UPA Govt. is nothing to get but making our India a laughable. People around the world will make their already made opinion that India is a MERE BANANA DEMOCRACY!!!

This special session of the Lok Sabha has not been called for Nuclear deal but to prove majority on floor of the house on instructions from the President following withdrawal of support by Commies.

Sincere suggestion wani: Please read a lot of newspaper. it's very cheap. It's free on internet. Please read before commenting. I feel pity on people like u (of course our MP's are also the same) who dont know anything abt anything and keep on commenting on public forums.

There is nothing wrong
by Dipak Bose on Jul 17, 2008 04:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is nothing wrong if CPI(M) vote along with the BJP. They did that before. in 1977 Morarji Desai government has survived because the LEFT was supporting it from outside, when Vajpayee was the foreign minister.

This is a national issue: (a) whether India would retain nuclear weapons to give up to satisfy American demand; (b) whether India will retain an independent foreign policy or it will be reduced to Thailand or Kenya.

India gains nothing from this 123 Dances; American Energy companies will gain. Just like ENRON , they will come to India to offer their junk nuclear plant at a high cost and just like ENRON they will run away without producing anything or just like UNION CARBIDE kill several thousands people.

Only the Corrupt most talks about PRINCIPLE in Indian Politics.
Communists are bunch of Cowards from their inception and they are filthiest and rotten most.
These Chinese Bootlickers are the real pests and parasites of India.
Al they do is misguiding the youths and converting them into scumbags.
Slap the Communists on their faces and be ashamed if you ever voted for them.
Communists are anti-civil and filthy people.

Copassenger theory
by Viswanadh on Jul 17, 2008 04:35 PM  Permalink

Good that the Left is reasonable to itself in calling BJP as co-passenger in the journey of dislodging this UPA govt. I was worried that this Left will jump off from the train and rather commits suicide than traveling with the BJP!! Good sense prevailed.

Biggest Losers: LEFT!
by J John on Jul 17, 2008 04:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is what most certainly going to happen:
1. UPA will lose the vote of confidence.
2. After next election, NDA will come to power.
3. BJP will sign the Nuclear deal with the font of the draft changing from Times New Roman to Arial
4. In the bye-elections, left will lose 13 seats from Kerala and 12 from West Bengal.

So, effectively, Deal will be signed and left will lose 25 MPs from loksabha.

Mr. Karat and company... Prepare for it!!
