Commies want to be with UPA in TN to beg for 2-3 seats
by SI on Jul 17, 2008 04:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I refer to Ravan RAJs' comment.Karat addressed at Chennai y'day. But U pls note down my point:In TN, Cong is the Major party within UPA & Commies(opportunitists) would like to be part of it (thru' DMK)& beg for 2-3 seats. If Commies have guts/spine, they should not be part of Cong-led UPA in TN.They will make mockery that thier alliance in TN is with DMK , which is a part of UPA.Look at BJP,They have guts & stand without even regional parties!!

You cannot do anything against China if you do not have any nuclear weapons. By signing 123 you have to give up nuclear weapons. This is the issue. China supports 123 deal.

There is nothing wrong if CPI(M) vote along with the BJP. They did that before. in 1977 Morarji Desai government has survived because the LEFT was supporting it from outside, when Vajpayee was the foreign minister.

This is a national issue: (a) whether India would retain nuclear weapons to give up to satisfy American demand; (b) whether India will retain an independent foreign policy or it will be reduced to Thailand or Kenya.

India gains nothing from this 123 Dances; American Energy companies will gain. Just like ENRON , they will come to India to offer their junk nuclear plant at a high cost and just like ENRON they will run away without producing anything or just like UNION CARBIDE kill several thousands people.

LEFT expects that The Congress after its defeat will drop MM Singh and after the new election, there will be again Congress-LEFT government.
Very few people in The Congress support MM Singh, so he can be discarded. This is the expectation of the LEFT.

I fear that you have got more knowledge than Dr. Kakodkar (Top nulear scientist), Dr. Manmohan Singh (Economist), Brajesh Mishra (Advisor to Vajpayee), or Ratan Tata (Industrialist). I do not know much abt the deal, but I have learnt to listen to the wise people.

I am leaving ina small village. you can come here and stay 1 day without power and then you told me nuclear deal you want or not. It easy to say "to to satisfy American demand". No one can give you in free of cost. You friend or your bloody Karat's Friends (China) also not given anything without something. if we have to servive we have to produce the energy and right now india isnot capable to produce lot of enery. He has to take help from other nation. If you donot like USA say take help of China. But dont say it's not an national issue.

Electricity in India is being produced by coal and hydro electric, not by nuclear which contribute only 2.6 percent of the total.
Even if shut down all nuclear plants, only a few people in Tamil Nadu( where most of the plants are located) will be affected. Electricity can be produced by many other ways, nuclear is the most expensive option and that option is already available independent of the Americans since 1968 ( when USA asked India to sign NPT, and then USA imposed sanctions against India). So even without 123 dances There can be nuclear power plants from Russia, which has helped India for the last 40 years.

However, electricity production is not the issue. Nuclear weapon is the issue. USA wants to destroy India's nuclear weapons, it is trying very hard since Clinton came into power. Bush is trying differently and he got his agent in India, MM Singh and his associates.

What is more important?
by sainadh p on Jul 17, 2008 04:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

UPA and all the other political parties are fighting over Nuclear Deal as if it is the main problem the country is facing now. The common man like me is more worried about inflation, prices, monsoon and law and order situation. So for me nuclear deal is a non-issue and I will vote for any party that tries to solve the above problems.

If the Nuclear Deal is pushed through, Congress will have enough grist for their election mill and they need it most given the dismal performance so far; if the deal fails, both Congress and the Left will lost no time to become comrades again as no party wants to lose power nuclear or political. Most probably, the trust vote may not take place and Cong. would backtrack on nuclear deal to stay in power and the left would also probably unabashedly support them then.

Nothing wrong in CPM voting with BJP. It is the prestigious issue for CPM to pull down the UPA and they have done it before also.

CPM is not a party in running the government. Except for the speaker, there is no ministers from CPM in the UPA. They have agreed to extend external support not par taking in the government.
Whereas Congress is different. In the past, they had alligned with may governments in running the government and at precious times, have pulled the rug and forced the nation with extra burden on unwanted elections.
I think majority of the indians likes temporary governments only.
