Electricity in India is being produced by coal and hydro electric, not by nuclear which contribute only 2.6 percent of the total. Even if shut down all nuclear plants, only a few people in Tamil Nadu( where most of the plants are located) will be affected. Electricity can be produced by many other ways, nuclear is the most expensive option and that option is already available independent of the Americans since 1968 ( when USA asked India to sign NPT, and then USA imposed sanctions against India).
