Somnath Chatterjee happens to be my neighbour in South Kolkata and believe me he wants for nothing. He has much more wealth and comfort than his speaker's entitlements. He is refusing because he is a true patriot unlike most commies who are agents of China and don't want any development in India that would push it ahead of China. These commies should be packed up and sent to China (one-way ticket). Long Live Somnath Babu, you have truly proved your mettle as a man. COMMIES, hope and pray there are no elections now, otherwise you can rest assured that 95% of your clan will not be back in Parliament. Shame on you anti-nationals

I guess you are not only his neighbour but also a relative of Mr.Somnath Chatterjee the great Barrister and Parliamentrian. His father Mr. N.C. Chatterjee is the founding father of the Hindu Mahasabha, the old name for today's Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP. Thats why the old BJP stalwarts have a soft corner for Somnathda. Yes he does come from a highly aristrocratic family much like Mr Jyoti Basu, also a Barrister (he ofcourse never practised since he was very rich to spend time and indulge in politics). Somnathda knows that even if the CPI(M) turn against him, he has many friends within BJP and Congress to bail him out. Just ignore his public image of being a BJP basher and hater, its only for the public consumption. Haathi Ka Danth, remember. Jo diktha woh nahin, Jo nahin dikhta woh hin. Remember two types of people join politics - Very Rich or Very Poor. The middle class guys have no time for politics he is worried about rising prices, education for his children and life after retirement. Another reason why Somnathda refusing to step down as Speaker, since he does not want to go down in history who could not complete his term since his party asked him to climb down from the high chair on the podium. Ofcourse although I am not a commie, I would however as a Bengali would like to see him on the chair till the term ends. Its not that we see any Bengali on the top. be as Prime minister or a President, even though Bengalis sacrificed their lives for India's Freedom.

B u l l s h i t....hungry for power, greed and political opportunitism. Your neighbour has changed my dear .. In a disciplined party like that of CPIM, in which your neighbour was a Central Commitee member and five times MP, how can refuse to toe the party line.. my simple question .. has he entered the present Lok Sabha as an independent candidate or CPIM candidate.. He became MP and subsequently Speaker at the cost of the work of hundreds and hundreds of CPIM cadre and for his own sake ditching the cadres and the party.. shame.. shame... shame.. shame...
Mr. Chakraborty, please have a look at this Salary & Govt. Concessions for a Member of Parliament (MP) Monthly Salary : 12,000 Expense for Constitution per month : 10,000 Office expenditure per month : 14,000 Traveling concession (Rs. 8 per km) : 48,000 (eg.For a visit from kerala to Delhi & return: 6000 km) Daily DA TA during parliament meets : 500/day Charge for 1 class (A/C) in train: Free (For any number of times)(All over India) Charge for Business Class in flights : Free for 40 trips / year (With wife or P.A.) Rent for MP hostel at Delhi : Free Electricity costs at home : Free up to 50,000 units Local phone call charge : Free up to 1,70,000 calls. TOTAL expense for a MP [having no qualification] per year : 32,00,000 [i.e. 2.66 lakh/month] TOTAL expense for 5 years : 1,60,00,000 For 534 MPs, the expense for 5 years : 8,54,40,00,000 (nearly 855 crores) Think of MLA's and Ministers in India of 28 states and their expenditures per month. BUT OUR PRIME MINISTER IS ASKING THE HIGHLY QUALIFIED, OUT PERFORMING CEOs TO CUT DOWN THE SALARIES OF IT AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERS….. This is how all our tax money is been swallowed and price hike on our regular commodities........ And we all know what is the present condition of our country.
855 crores could make the poor people's life livable !! Think of the great democracy we have.......... PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO ALL REAL CITIZENS OF INDIA ... but, STILL BE PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN .. I

All the CPI(M) MPs give their salary to the party. They get allowance from the party as other full time party worker get.

last time the L.S.passed a bill for hike in the salary of M.P.s in both the house and the procedings starting from introduction of bill is completed with in 15 minutes. A bill of reservstion for women in parliament and assembly is still under discussion for 15 years.
the sport's minister's comment on salaries draw by IT employees and ministers is stupid. the freebies that a minister gets far supercedes an IT professional. a software engineer gets the salary he draws after studying and sitting late night. we in india have only a few educated ministers. a school dropout minister also draws 65,000/-. now can you tell me who draws more money. it is the minister. a software professional gets his salary after proper TDS. name a minister who has files their returns properly.

Very wrong concept. Becoming a minister is more difficult job than to become a software professional.
It is wrong on the part of veteren astute politician like somnath chatterjee to revolt against party leadership on the lame excuse that he does not want to vote with BJP. If he had the same guts , he should have refused to accept the speaker's post since BJP has also supported it. These power hungry people once if they occupy the chair, don't want to vacate it. He should understand that he is not going to help BJP if he votes against the nuclear deal. On the contrary, this precarious situation arose only becuase of the stand taken by left. If he does not want to vote with BJP, LET HIM FIRST RESIGN THE POST OF SPEAKER AND NOT VOTE AGAINST THE DEAL. BY DOING THIS, HE NOT ONLY OBEYS THE PARTY DECISION OF RESIGNING FROM SPEAKER'S POST, BUT ALSO ACT AS PER HIS CONSCIENCE, IF HE HAS ONE. We have been thinking that members of the left are not power hungry and have principles, but by Somnath Chatterjee's threaten that he is going to resign from CPI(M), the fact is something else.
Why at this age someone shall let go the comfort of a toyota Corolla airconditioned car, speaker's bunglow, its comforts and unimaginable variety of perks, status of a cabinet minister etc just like that. Can CPM give such facilities. So even if one has to leave the party one will do that for these comforts and perhaps Rs. 25 crore. Why forget these things at thi`s age. Let one be there till 22nd. collect all dues. If ministry is there, resign from party. If ministry is not there, come back to party with Rs. 25 crores in suitcases. Whicheverway , it is profitable,
Communist ideology. Better to die with hunger & poverty but not work and earn money under a capitalist system.West Bengal is the biggest Example of Communist ideology where 60% of population lives in Slums.

I dont understand this crap..Bharatiya Janata Party is communal, Rashtriya Swayam Sevak is communal but Muslim League is not? It was right there in West Bengal the hindu muslim hatred started resulting in the partition. So who is more communal? BJP in the North west or West Bengal?

Extremes exists in all factions... but its the Centre of these extremes i.e. BJP in case of Hindutva, that has to showcase its readiness for inclusive politics....not the two faced approach that was adopted earlier....
Congress has been a fence sitter and is incapable...but the BJP instead of playing on its strengths (like Modi today versus Modi yesterday)...is playing on its weaknesses (look at Rudy on any tv channel, or arun jaitley/sushma swaraj)...they dont have any good national leaders...
my record in saving the party & country.... i killed so many...i raped so many...i beat up so many....i looted so much....i went to jail so many times....I AM BRAVE!!! I deserve a Bharat Ratna!! My Statue where is it???
