It is true that west Bengal has unbroken record of sending the maximum numbers of left MPs and still it has no say in CPM Politbureau .
CPM politbureau has been hijacked by rootless fellows like Prakash Karat & power brokers like Yechury who have not won even a municipal elections.
These fellows have thrown out Jyoti Babu and prevented bengal leftist to occupy any important position in CPM.Karat is like Greg chappel who showed finger to Kolkat ,same way Karat/Yechury showed finger to Somnath da when Somnath da wanted to contest Vice president .. CPM politbureau is full of oppurtunist like Karat & Yechry who are opposed to west bengal welfare..although they derive power from MPs ..
I think Bongs are realising that they are being taken for a ride for far too long!!!!
Bengal has to learn to live with biases just like case of Sourab Ganguly declared as best Asian criketer of the year with avg of 50 plus ,still he was dropped... Remember Mr Chakravarty is not a man to be ignored. He is the Right Hand Man of Mr. Jyoti Basu. While everyone of us enjoy his various gimmick that brings him to the limelight, he does not do this without weighing the options. By suddenly adopting a stance that appears as if he will go against either his own party the CPI(Marxist) or his own Chief Minister, he actually tries to defuse the tension within and outside the party on a highly debatable issue. Say in the last election to the Cricket Association of Bengal, when Buddhadeb Bhattacharya the West Bengal CM was supporting Prasun Mukherjee, Mr. Chakravarty opposed the move and openly supported Dalmiya. So supporters of Dalmiya lowered down their guard, hoping Chakravarty's supporters will vote for Dalmiya. But in the last moment citing party discipline Chakravarty showed how much he is committed to his party and so Dalmiya lost. Here also the same tactics is being repeated. What Mr. Jyoti Basu cannot say openly, he tells it through Mr. Chakravarty, taking the blame for being just a Maverick, much like Laluji does sometimes. Man, don't believe the politician. The game of politics is to deceive others without the players (the politicians) being deceived themselves. This is only a caveat for the common man. Actually Mr. Chakravarty does the dirty work for his party. CPI(M) shows they are with the common man, but when it comes to drive away Hawkers, the old General was entrusted to carry out Operation Shinning.

West Bengal has become self sufficient in agriculture. Even when Karnataka, Tamil Nadu in need of power, West Bengal provided it. Decentralisation of power has not happened in any other state like West Bengal. 50 percent of the revenue has been given to the local panchayats...

Bengal Self sufficient in agricultur? Has anybody checked the demand for food grains by Bengal under PDS system?
Somnath da is first a CPM MP and then Speaker. In normal circumstances, speakers should be above politics, but it should not be forgotton that he is there because has been elected on a party ticker. Can you imagine a speaker withour he being an MP? Somnath Da is a very respected and senior person. I don't think he is sticking to the post for any lust. There must be some intristic reason for the same which one will know only after some time.

Somenath chatterjee became known ONLY BECAUSE OF CPIM. The party picked him up from somewhere and made him a five time MP. This man lost to a novice Mamata Banerjee in Jadavpur and was hiding somewhere till he was brought to Bolpur. He did not have the courage to face Mamata again and ran away. He came to LOK Sabha on a CPIM ticket. He was spared by CPIM to become Speaker when Congress wanted to please CPIM at the beginning of the alliance. His Bolpur seat I think has come under SC Quota and therefore he may be under pressure. What a joke.. A speaker is supposed to take action against erring MPs who defy their party.. in this case when he himself is defying his party who is going to act? Political opportunitism, Greed and hungry for power at its peak. God save India
Jyoti Basu is indirectly encouraging dissidence in CPM like Vajpayee doing in BJP. In a disciplined party like that of CPIM, it is expected people at whatever level they may be, toe the party line and Somenath Chatterjee should have resigned the very day his party withdrew support to UPA. It's sheer opportunitism and greed on the part of Chatterjee not to have resigned. In all fairness to Karat, the decision to withdraw support to UPA and vote against them in the Lok Sabha was taken in principle once the UPA govt goes ahead with nuclear deal. In that case everyone knew that when it comes to voting out the UPA government, there would be simultaneous anti-UPA voting by BJP as well. My point is that why people like Subhas Chakraborty and Somenath Chatterjee did not object it all these days and remained a mouse. Where were these tigers at that time? They should have had the courtesy to point out to the CPI M and left leadership the problems voting with BJP and should have forced the Left to toe congress line, which they actually favour. A person who has been taken into State Committee after about 30 years of struggle and that too at the mercy of Jyoti Basu has no locus standi. Subhas Chakraborty cannot even fight with his district comrades Amitava Nandy and others and where is the question of his fighting Karat others. The write-up is quite cheap and is quite uncalled for. Finally he is brave just becos of Jyoti Basu and a brave man like him should be sent to fight terrorists and

Do you know the amount of foreign exchange that are sent to India by the Indian Taxi drivers in New York, is much more than the total foreign exchange thats generated by the whole of the Indian IT industry. IT is a prestigious white collared job whereas the Taxi Driver's job is considered too low, for the Indian Le creme de creme to actually acknowledge the facts. Do you know many Indian techie H1B VISA holder in US work part time in an IT company just to fulfill their Visa obligation while they make most of the money doing odd labor jobs such as working in a Gas filling station and as waiters, lawn mower, caretaker, and also in Malls and Superstores. So don't think that all IT guys in US are making money from softwares. When they visit India they splurge to show off, back in the US they have a miserable existence. They remain there because they do not wish the others at home to learn the real truth. They even sometimes spend the night by buying tickets on a to and fro long distance bus since they cannot afford the house rent. Remember the adage "All that Glitters is not Gold"
