Jyoti Basu is indirectly encouraging dissidence in CPM like Vajpayee doing in BJP. In a disciplined party like that of CPIM, it is expected people at whatever level they may be, toe the party line and Somenath Chatterjee should have resigned the very day his party withdrew support to UPA. It's sheer opportunitism and greed on the part of Chatterjee not to have resigned. In all fairness to Karat, the decision to withdraw support to UPA and vote against them in the Lok Sabha was taken in principle once the UPA govt goes ahead with nuclear deal. In that case everyone knew that when it comes to voting out the UPA government, there would be simultaneous anti-UPA voting by BJP as well. My point is that why people like Subhas Chakraborty and Somenath Chatterjee did not object it all these days and remained a mouse. Where were these tigers at that time? They should have had the courtesy to point out to the CPI M and left leadership the problems voting with BJP and should have forced the Left to toe congress line, which they actually favour. A person who has been taken into State Committee after about 30 years of struggle and that too at the mercy of Jyoti Basu has no locus standi. Subhas Chakraborty cannot even fight with his district comrades Amitava Nandy and others and where is the question of his fighting Karat others. The write-up is quite cheap and is quite uncalled for. Finally he is brave just becos of Jyoti Basu and a brave man like him should be sent to fight terrorists and
