No choice
by Vikas on Jul 15, 2008 03:18 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

NC is the biggest enemy of Congress in the state.

Supporting congress will be suicidal for NC, at a time when they have to prepare to contest against Congress in the state elections within 6 months.

If NC supports Congress, NC can dissolve their party and go home.

anybody can understand that NC will not try to commit political suicide, at a time when they are expected to win next state election

Nuclar deal is for everyone on this earth.
by ramesh kumar on Jul 15, 2008 03:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

To meet the grwoing demand of power, thermal power plants are being built throughout the world. One tonne of coal burnt in power plant produces about 3.5 t of carbon dioxide, which is let into atmosphere. 4 million tonnes of coal is required to be burnt per year to produce 500 mw power. Imagine 14 million tonnes of carbon dioxide going to atmosphere by 500 mw plant alone. our power requirement is more than 400,000 MW. All these gases are crating what is called green-house effect and increasing the earth temperature. If we produce electricity by Nuclear Plants, carbon di-oxide generation is zero. Regarding radations more uranium and radiactive substances are let into atmosphere by coal burning (though it in traces but the magnitude of caol burnt is so hogh that it becomes a substantial amount) than nuclear power plant. India will earn billions by carbon credits if they go for nuclear power plant.
This earth will be saved by green house effect. Moreever efficeincy of power generation by coal is hardly 36 %. Then there is enormous problem of flyash disposal. One t of coal produces around250 kg of FLy Ash. This is eroding the soil fertility. By burning coal in power plants , the earth temperature ha increased by 1.5 deg c in last 50 years whereas the same remained more or less stable for last thousand years. As an engineer I appeal to all concerened to see reason behind the deal and support it not only for India but for the survival of human race on this eartn
Jai Hind.

pls also think about nuke mishaps like chernobyl , india is targetted by the terrorists and besides all that how much difference will it make, it seems by 2030 if v go nuke only 5% of our energy needs will be fulfilled, do you think that this is making much diff, i dont think.

UPA is hurrying just to divert peoples' attention from real problems of the country. Even if this deal is passed by IAEA, it may not get passed in US due to forthcoming elections and will go to the next President. So it is worth discussing in detail as anyway it will hv to b passed by the next President, who will also sign it as it is very lucrative for the US business.

US does not bother about carbon dioxide emmisions. It only wants business. It is the only developed country, which refused to sign the Kyoto agreement on this issue.

RE:RE:Can any Mullah explain?
by maher on Jul 15, 2008 02:58 PM  Permalink
Muslims are not opposed to the N deal. The ulema recently clarified it when some parties tried to the muslims into it.

Same with the Amarnath shrine issue, the news about thier stance was there on rediff.

Vande mataram means worshipping your mother; in this case the motherland. For muslims to worship anyone other than Allah is tantamount to disbelief. For them it is Vande Eeshwaram. Nevertheless as a national song, I have no problem if you sing it. But if I were to do it then it would be hypocrisy or coercion. We must be honest about our national feelings.

Omar-Congress Deal for Quid Pro Quo?
by outspoken on Jul 15, 2008 02:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Omar will back Congress; Cong will back him in Kashmir and PDP will bite the dust. Is PDP a party? Mufti created it to keep his divorced daughter busy. The Ex Home Minister is hardly disbtinguishable from ultras. Time to deport him to his motherlank across the border.
