have you seen the behaviour of the UK in all these years vis-a-vis the US? Even the France and Germany have toned down their voices. Do you see the condition of Pakistan & Afghanistan? Have you ever seen Philippines, Saudi or Australia, speaking out against any single policy of the US? You may remember during Iraq war of Sr. Bush, the lady solders of the US were seen moving around in bikinis in the Saudi, when that was NATO's Central command. And after long persuasion, US did heed to restrict these beauties to within their Camps. You must be well aware about this. I have seen those clippings on BBC. Can you imagine an Indian girl doing so there? She would be lynched to death in no time, along with all her relatives there.
No, None of the countries that allied with the US had gained. And none will be.
FOR ALL THOSE WHO THINK INDIA WILL BE SUPERPOWER ONCE IT GETS NUCLEAR POWER ARE LIVING IN CUCKOO LAND.
- coz, u congressmen r selling our nation to the west, in those secret pages.
- coz, u r giving away: 2,000,000,000,000.00 dollars (thats 2KB), from our nation's treasury to the west.
- coz, u r moving our once-proud-and-independent army, scientists and jawans, to become puppets in the hands of the west,
- coz, for the next 250 years, our children will be paying back this `loan-agreement` you are signing, on our behalf!
- coz, india will once again become a slave of the west, like it was for a thousand years b4 '47.
- coz, IAEA's spies (read inspectors) from porkistan, usa, uk, europe, saudi arabia, bangladesh, basically even from the worst banana republic country on earth,
- they can legally enter our innermost-secret-defense-wartime-armed-forces-areas, LEGALLY THEY CAN (AND NO INDIAN CAN STOP `EM),
- and they can LEGALLY check up on ANY PAPER, AND DOCUMENT, AND EQUIPMENT, ANY OFFICER, ANY JAWAN, ANY COMPUTER, ANY ANYTHING!
- coz, our home will become a wasteland, a home we have protected from the invaders from mid-east and the west, for the last millions of years...

You are a fool. Like you there are several other fools chilling about the deal. Do you know thorium technology can not work unless you have plutonium reactors of FBR kind? When you do not have plutonium (due to deal), you will be forever licking the boots of US for H1B visas.

the last line especially shows how scewed up this guy is...we have never protected...we have always included any invader, check what happened to alexander the great, the mughals...our culture is richer & Hinduism has grown in Stature by this...unlike xian which needs to be spread, Hinduism has spread without any effort...and no indian, especially, MMS will every sell India cheap...go MMS go!!
two aspects, the supply of uranium and the addition of new reactor capacity. At least within this time horizon, neither nuclear breeding reactors nor thorium reactors will play a significant role because of the long lead times for their development and market penetration. The analysis of data on uranium resources leads to the assessment that discovered reserves are not sufficient to guarantee the uranium supply for more than thirty years. Eleven countries have already exhausted their uranium reserves. In total, about 2.3 Mt of uranium have already been produced. At present only one country (Canada) is left having uranium deposits containing uranium with an ore grade of more than 1%, most of the remaining reserves in other countries have ore grades below 0.1% and two thirds of reserves have ore grades below 0.06%. This is important as the energy requirement for uranium mining is at best indirect proportional to the ore concentration and with concentrations below 0.01-0.02% the energy needed for uranium processing – over the whole fuel cycle – increases substantially. The proved reserves (=reasonably assured below 40 $/kgU extraction cost) and stocks will be exhausted within the next 30 years at current annual demand. Likewise, possible resources – which contain all estimated discovered resources with extraction costs of up to 130 $/kg – will be exhausted within 70 years. At present, of the current uranium demand of 67 kt/yr only 42 kt/yr are supplied by new p
At present, of the current uranium demand of 67 kt/yr only 42 kt/yr are supplied by new production, the rest of about 25 kt/yr is drawn from stockpiles which were accumulated before 1980. Since these stocks will be exhausted within the next 10 years, uranium production capacity must increase by at least some 50% in order to match future demand of current capacity. Recent problems and delays with important new mining projects (e.g. Cigar Lake in Canada) are causing doubts whether these extensions will be completed in time or can be realized at all?? In case only the proved reserves below 40 $/kt can be converted into production volumes, then even before 2020 supply problems are likely. If all estimated known resources up to 130 $/kgU extraction cost can be converted into production volumes, a shortage can at best be delayed until about 2050. This assessment is summarised in the following figure. Possible uranium production profiles in line with reported reserves and resources are shown together with the annual fuel demand of reactors. The reserve and resource data are taken from the Red Book of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA 2006). The demand forecasts up to 2030 are based on the latest 2006 scenarios Uranium Resources and Nuclear Energy EWG-Paper No 1/06 Page 5 of 48 by the International Energy Agency, a “reference scenario” which represents the most likely development, and an “alternative policy scenario” which is based on policies to increase the share

If it was so simple, why was the Govt reluctant to publish this earlier? How did the Govt expect even its supporters to sign without seeing the contents of the text??

AFTER READING THE AGREEMENT TEXT I FELT TO SPLIT ON LEFT PARTIES FACE. THEY ARE REALLY AGAINST INDIA. WHY THEY ARE OPPOSING MMS?
Think about this draft as a indian and not a political cader and u found that nothing is wrong in this as we are asking power for only civilan need (replacement to oil). Good thing is that we already have nuclear wepans and we not signed any deal that we are not producing nuclear weapons, we only told to IAEA that the nuclear material we are getting in this deal is used for only civilan purpose and not millitry.

The deal as its title indicates is a Civilian Nuclear Agreement. India has presently 22 reactors. The deal permits India to separate our military and civilian reactors and place the later under an inspection regime of the IAEA. India has accordingly identified 14 reactors to be under the deal. The other 8 reactors, outside the deal, permits India's military nuclear program to continue unfettered.
When India conducted Pokhran II under the NDA regime, the US reacted by constituting the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG) which presently has 45 countries as its members. For countries to engage in nuclear transactions globally, it needed a NSG waiver. Because India did not have a NSG waiver, our nuclear program in this country began to hurt. Uranium supplies, spares etc dried up and consequently nuclear power generation capacity are operating at less than 50%. This means that the thousands of crores invested by the country is not providing full value in returns. The US is the most influential member of the NSG. Without US support, no waiver is possible. So the necessity of first striking a deal with the US, which even the Chinese have entered into.
